>Yakuza 0
shit sux
you're so contrarian and cool anon
0, K1, K2, 6, Judgement, Judgement Lost
>muh 3, 4, and 5
didnt play them, they look like ass
This anon has the worst opinions I have ever seen.
frick zoomers, and frick 0gays
5 is the best game perhaps. start with 7 then go to 0 and 1 and on from there.
>start with 7
What the frick? That's moronic advice. The story is mostly self contained until the latter half.
Go back to elementary school and learn to count, then play video games.
Just finished K2.
That was the stupidest fricking ending I've ever seen in a video game. Please tell me the other games don't do this.
>2's ending
>dumb
have a nice day, you absolute Black person. It's highly likely you didn't pay attention to anything.
I paid attention to the entire story, a shotgun blast of six different twists within five minutes of each other makes it fricking impossible to stay invested in anything.
>btw i didn't die this was my plan all along
>btw i was working for him this was my plan all along
>btw it was my plan to kill you
>btw i was also going to kill you
>btw the bomb was fake lmao
They jerked themselves into a coma over how many twists they could cram into the ending and never once bothered to explain what the frick the Jingweon actually wanted. What's so vitally important to the Jingweon that they have to get an entire army of mainland mobsters involved in this revenge plot? Who is leading this? Did they raise an army exclusively to throw them at Kamurocho in a suicide push with no other motives or intentions? Even in the flashback, the Jingweon exist exclusively to frick with the Tojo and have no other motives, what were they doing before their entire existence centered exclusively around suicide? 33+1 people died so they're going to go suicide bomb an entire city with hundreds more of their own guys, how obscenely fricking moronic.
The killing kiryu fake out? They do that every game.
Literally every single game past 2 does bullshit like that, sorry
Akiyama losing the last additional bit of money he didn't know he still had is funny at least
True, also like how the money makes a return as an amulet to wear for good luck in 5 (remastered anyway)
2s was pretty awful with 3 different characters all taking turns saying "It was me the whole time!" "No, it was ME the whole time" "Nuh-uh it was MEE the whole time" and then Kiryu like "I just let myself explode for no reason... oh the bomb aint real lol what was the point"
3s ending has LE BAD THING HAPPEN and then like 2 seconds later literally every affect from le bad thing is negated and Kiryu waves at the camera is like "we did it guys" and halfway through the game some dude just exposition dumps the entire plot of the game after it was shrouded in mystery and they just didn't feel like writing all of it out
4s story is so all over the place with a twist and a turn every 2 seconds its almost impossible to keep track of and even if you do it sucks and the combat in this game is so incredibly terrible its worse than 3 by a mile
5s final boss just kinda shows up and the game ends pretty abruptly and chapter 3 is Haruka sings and dancing for like 5 fricking hours for no reason the pacing is bad even for a Yakuza game
2's ending is only middle of the pack moronic
>hating 2s ending
You gays are so fricking gay, I swear.
>liking 2s ending
0, k1, k2, 4, 5, 6
3 is skippable trash, unless you are desperate for orphanage slice of life compilation
This to be honest, don't get me wrong, 3's story isn't bad, it's the frickin combat. Maybe it's my fault for always playing Yakuza on hard on my first play through, and it's not even hard, it's just fricking annoying
>3's story isn't bad,
The pacing fricking blows
And you are absolutely 100% correct, I'm currently playing 4, because I put 20 hours into 3 and I just couldn't do it again lol
!!!mandatory mods!!!
0 - install hd texture mod, sound restoration mod, and style switching mod (top 10 in nexus)
k1 - install hd texture mod, sound restoration mod, and rebalanced mod
k2 - install hd texture mod, sound restoration mod, remove green light filter mod, extended moveset mod
3 remastered - install 'no more blockuza' mod, music restoration mod
4 remastered - install uncensored patch (westoids censored a rape joke) + hd texture mod, music restoration mod
5 remastered - same as 4 + install new heat actions and movesets mod, it gives every character 3x the movesets
6 - hd textures mod, sound restoration mod, extended moveset mod or classic dragon of dojima mod
says a y5 gay.
>mods
>mandatory
>recommending mods to a first timer
Mod a bullet into your skull
kys troony moron homosexual
Not a troony sorry, not into modding my body. Should be right up your alley though
he is right.
You really should use restoration mods, HD texture mods (Since all they do is add cutscene quality models into gameplay), 4K font mods, and HD menu mods. There's no detriment at all even for a first-timer. Sure, gameplay mods are a different thing, but none of those are gameplay mods, and the restoration mods fix what got removed or censored so you're getting a more authentic original experience.
I have honestly never seen it there. I've seen that one flowery zoom into a gate thing, the phone adverts, and I think one other thing involving some spy movie but never anything about a Kenzan movie. If you can find it I'll believe you but that itself would go against the multitudes of things we see in 3 and 5 specifically. Unless for some reason the Musashi carving looks exactly like Musashi, Musashi's several hundred year old books are exactly the same as the "movie" counterpart, many of the weapons from that era were what Musashi used, and the Hozoin guy is what, inspired by the movie even though I think he or his bio talks about his family legacy?
>Maybe it's my fault for always playing Yakuza on hard on my first play through
that's probably it. i played 3 on normal and thoroughly enjoyed it. my only real complaint was ryukyu was so small, which was a shame because the atmosphere was great.
They don't have infinite blocking on normal I'm guessing?
For OP's sake we need to discuss this: Should you play 1 and 2 BEFORE 0 or AFTER?
I've seen arguments that you look at the games differently cause technically you're getting to the rest of the games with a different contextual understanding based off the path you choose. I started with 0 and playing K1 so I have my feelings about characters a certain way someone wouldnt of if they did K1 K2 then 0
0 was explicitly made to be played first. There's nothing in 0 that spoils the events of later games but K1 and K2 have rewrites and extra content that reference 0 and don't make sense if you haven't played it.
release order
>0 was explicitly made to be played first.
Yeah when they released the first 5 yakuza games they announced publicly
>we hope nobody buys or plays these games in the off chance that in 20 years time we release a "prequel" in which case we definitely want you to play that first.
You absolute moron.
Nobody wants to go back to playing the PS2 games m8
>Nobody
So you?
>Nobody wants to go back to playing the PS2 games m8
Yakuza 1 & 2 HD were released on the PS3, same as 3/4/5 and... wait for it... 0!
You know what he meant, disingenuous homosexual. For the record, I played the PS2 version of 2.
No, I must not know what he meant. I was following up on
train of thought. Up until normie bandwagon hoppers in the west latched onto 0 via brainrot inducing memes, Yakuza was made by Japan for Japan. It follows that them making 1 & 2 more accessible goes directly against the westie marketing line of them wanting people to start with 0.
>Yakuza 1 & 2 HD were released on the PS3
Also on Wee U.
the betrayal in K1 would not have felt as impactful without going through 0 first. that alone is enough to start with 0.
0 was made to be played before Kiwami 1 and 2, as they reference stuff from that game. The choice is between playing them 0 > K1 > K2 or playing the original PS2 games in release order
There's 2 orders
It's PS2(1 and 2)>3>4>5>6>0>(Play K1 and K2 to your hearts content, if you don't want to then skip)>6>7>and so on
0>K1>K2>3>4>5>6>7
Literally only 0
0 then kiwami then kiwami 2
lost judgement, 5, 6, k1, 0, k2, 0 again, 1, 3, 4, 5 again, 2, dead souls. skip the rest.
Shouldn't Ishin technically be first?
Kenzan would be first as it's 100 or 200 years prior to Ishin.
Dude, 2's twists are pretty tame for the series. 4 does the equivalent of that many twists within a few minutes and that's even before the ending comes into play. These are playable jdramas/morning soap operas, if you're expecting something super serious instead of that you've gotta change your mindset.
most people in here are moronic and/or have not played every game. This is the definitive order:
0, K1, K2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Judgment, 7, Lost Judgment
>hurrrr shuld i start wit da 6th game in da seriez or da 1st i am so confuse !!!
Kenzan->Ishin-> 0 to Kiwami 2 (or OG 1-5 then 0) -> 3-5 remastered with restored content mods -> Kuoryhou or however it’s called 1 and 2-> Dead Souls-> 6 -> 7-> Judgement 1 and 2
>hurr kenzan and ishin would be the real first games
they are alt-takes on known stories, you homosexuals aren't funny.
>they are alt-takes on known stories
Kenzan happened within the Yakuza universe as evidenced by Yakuza 3. You are tasked by Komaki to find Musashi's journals and learn moves from them, you can find a wooden statuette of Musashi, and the swords have flavor text alluding to them being owned by Musashi. The Hozoin descendant is also in the coliseum starting from 3 AND he's part of Shinada's Victory Road entry fights and is unavoidable if you want to enter them.
Ishin happened within the Yakuza universe as evidenced by 0 and 6. You can learn Tennen Rishin from Fei Hu who gives you a detailed explanation about it and many of the items from the Tiger Dragon are either items Ryoma wore or owned. In 6 you can find the ghost of Tokugawa at the bottom of Tenkaichi.
Chronologically it happens after 6 which is why Little Asia is under construction and why Ono Michio-kun's manager complains about the last guy being better.
you say all that yet kenzan's opening cutscene is referenced as having been part of a movie in-universe.
Where? Are you talking about the director substory in 3 that specifically talks about the guy wanting to make a samurai movie but it's revealed he was making an embellished story about Kiryu's life that he heard from the grapevine? If not then where?
Tiger Drop is the QR code in the Champion District that needs to be gained with the drone. Don't remember the quickstep one, I want to say it was in KJ Arts but it's been a while. If you missed any story ones do the substory in the sewer next to the doctor and it unlocks a guy who sells you stuff you missed in the story missions.
it's shown on the jumbotron screen in one of the games (I forget which one). "that" version of Miyamoto Musashi's story is fictional even in-universe by that logic.
Where are the quickstep and tiger drop skill books in JE? And the rest of them too.
Skill books are all over the place. Some are in areas you go to as part of the story, there's 3 in the various gambling dens you exchange chips for, 3 hidden on unlock spaces in Dice & Cube boards, there's a couple gained through Quickstarter, and 2 from befriending certain people.
If you're towards the end of the game and there's some you're still scratching your head over, there's no shame in peeking at a guide. Those Dice and Cube ones really burned my ass when I found out about them. How the frick were you supposed to know?
AYO MOOSE, do you know anything about the Kenzan translation progress aside from the latest update on the website? Is there a way I could play it and navigate my way through things without knowing japanese?
>do you know anything about the Kenzan translation progress aside from the latest update on the website?
Their recent updates were
,
, and
. The guys behind it post here constantly but that was their last update about Kenzan specifically.
>Is there a way I could play it and navigate my way through things without knowing japanese?
If you just want the main story then
That translates all of the main story and all the in-between dialogue as you go from area to area.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/943326-ryu-ga-gotoku-kenzan/faqs/52464
This guide is if you want all side content. Keep in mind you need to savescum every single substory and Kakemawari mission (I think) because a mistake in any of them leads to being locked out of the secret boss. You also cannot leave anything to the end of the game because almost everything is time-sensitive and chapter-sensitive along with Gion getting locked arbitrarily so you can't go back even though you have no reason not to be able to. Even if the translation patch was released you cannot play Kenzan without a guide if you plan on doing side content.
http://shenmue.fc2web.com/ryuu/index.html
This is if you want to actually 100% the completion list because the GameFAQs guide is unusable for both the yuujo and the sword crafting/material locations. You will need to either have really good Google Translate skills or some minor Japanese knowledge to know what you're looking for.
http://shenmue.fc2web.com/ryuu/ryuu_katana.html
This is just regarding what you equip in 2kat to get a damage bonus. The 二刀 section at the bottom is what you want. The top name on the left side is the sword, the one underneath it is the wakizashi to get the damage bonus. They're split up into groups of two.
I really don't want to retype this all but if you want 100% look at what I said
and
months ago.
>time sensitive shit
Why would they do this? I'm likely not going to want to 100% it. Mainly just the main story and probably substories if it's not too much of a hassle. However, I can't seem to find a download for Kenzan so I might not even be able to play it.
>Dead Souls after 5 when it was released before 5 and takes place right after 4, obviously not canon but was basically retconned by 5
At least get your non-canon lore right.
Play them in the release order
>Yakuza 1 & 2 (PS2)
>Yakuza 3, 4, 5
>Yakuza 0
>Yakuza 6
>Yakuza 7
Oh and play Kiwami games after 0
I did K1 > 0 > K2 and didn't really regret it but playing 0 first is probably a better idea.
Yakuza threads were ruined by 0. Ishin Kiwami going out of its way to replace characters from the ps3 trilogy with 0 and 7 characters seems like a massive frick you to the real fans who have been there since day 1.
>Yakuza threads were ruined by 0
pure delusion.
yakuza discussion is ruined because of autismos always frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of 0.
>real fans
And you "real fans" are a bunch of cry baby homosexuals. I've played 0, K1, OG2, K2, 3-7, Judgement, and LJ. Every single character they're replacing is fine and they'll have better models anyways. The only one that kinda doesn't fit is Zhao.
>muh real fans
shut the frick up poser, god damn just shut the frick up.
> contrarian homosexuals are the real fans
lmao, what a tryhard
I'm old as dirt, played since the original releases and I still think the kiwamis are superior.
cry more, b***hbreasts.
hating the newer releases won't get you more acceptance from your mates, zoom zoom.
Having less Baba can only improve a game.
I started yakuza with 2 on ps2. Yakuza threads on Ganker before zero would barely get any replies, not much to ruin. I also don't really care about them replacing some characters in ishin, it's not a frick you it's just them putting in the newer, more recognisable actors, I suppose.
stop being homosexuals and post your favorite track
That's the second best long battle theme but i raise you with this
Best long battle track
Saejima after finally serving all his prison sentences.
You can play them either as:
1 2 3 4 5 6 0
OR
0 1 2 3 4 5 6
I don't mention Y7 because its NOT A FRICKING YAKUZA GAME, YAKUZA GAMES ARE NOT FRICKIN' RPGS WITH TURN BASED SHIT.
>NOT A FRICKING YAKUZA GAME, YAKUZA GAMES ARE NOT FRICKIN' RPGS WITH TURN BASED SHIT
Get a load of this homosexual. LAD is just as much of a yakuza game as the rest in the series. It being turn based doesn't make it any less of one.
The Jingweon want control over Kamurocho, numb nuts. Tojo has control over Kamurocho and other factions, like the Snake Flower Triad want a slice of the pie. Kazama and Dojima went and killed a bunch of Jingweon and now they have a deep seeded grudge against the Tojo clan but more specifically, anyone related to Kazama which by default ends up being Kiryu. If you paid attention at all, it was explained you fricking idiot.
>The Jingweon want control over Kamurocho, numb nuts
Is that why they were about to level the city with over 30 bombs
Let me guess, it was actually KEIKAKU DOORI for the bombs to get defused, wasting everyone's time and sucking all tension out of the story
They were placed specifically in Tojo clan businesses to weaken the Tojo clan profits so the Tojo wouldn't have as much of a strong grip on the city. My lord, dude, you're fricking blind, deaf, and dumb.
>0 after 6
Play all games past 0 in release order, with the exception of maybe playing 5 before 6. Watch 3 and 4 on youtube. This is what I'm actually planning on doing. Recently finished kiwami 2 and am planning on watching 3 soon.
1 and 2 are mogged by kiwami and kiwami 2. Keep in mind that the Kiwami games are kinda weak in comparison to the rest, but some people think the combat in kiwami 1 the best in the series. Kiwami 2 is a step up from 1 in that its more fun and the story is slightly better.
There's nothing wrong with playing K1 over OG1, BUT K2 is objectively the worst in the series and you should always play OG2 over it
>K2 is objectively the worst in the series
No.
>BUT K2 is objectively the worst in the series
That would be 6.
Chronological order is good way to get started.
That's how I did it back in early 2022, and I've been having blast so far. Currently at Y5.
Here's the most based way to go about these games, you're welcome:
Yakuza 1 (with the restoration patch) -> 2 -> 3 Remastered -> 4 Remastered -> Kurohyou 1 -> Dead Souls -> Kurohyou 2 -> 5 Remastered -> 0 -> Kiwami 1 -> 6 -> Kiwami 2 -> Judgment (Judge Eyes) -> 7 -> Lost Judgment -> Like a Dragon Ishin! Kiwami -> Like a Dragon Gaiden -> 8
0 then 3
Why did you post the Chinese cover for 0?
Start with 0. It really does help you appreciate 1 more to have some background on certain characters. There are some characters in 1 who are actually very important, yet they get very little time or development. 0 helps remedy some of that. The only downside to playing 0 first is that you're arguably starting with the best game in the series and nothing else will measure up
why do these games have to torture me and make me so hungry
1 on the PS2. Release order is how you should play literally any series.
Release order, you dingus.
0, k1, k2, 3, etc
Mate it's not that fricking hard, just play them in release date
Quick! Claim your wife!
where's yui hatano?
ah shit never mind, didn't see her under kiwami
God, facescan is such a fricking mistake.
Why female facescanning looks ugly as frick but male ones are fine?
Male actors are usually main story while female actors are side content
Male actors don't wear makeup (nearly as much).
I'd just play in this order. 0, K1 ,K2, Judgement, Like a Dragon.
If you liked K1 and K2 play 6.
Watch 3,4,5 on YT.
The best ones are Like a Dragon, Judgement and 0.
This is exactly what I was thinking about doing lmao
Thoughts on Lost Judgement?
Why would you do that? Judgement is its own thing. 3 is stiff but 4 is one of the best in the series and the whole appeal of 5 is that it allows you to travel to cities all over Japan.
Not played it yet.
I only don't recommend the other games because they are super old and out of date, the old games didn't age well.

Start with zero, then the Kiwami games. Try 3 but don't hesitate to skip it if you feel like the gameplay is outdated. Also take breaks between the games, it can feel tedious always going back to kamurucho. Do not try to 100% any of them but do engage in the sidestories as much of the series' charm comes from them.
Chronological is always best.
>0, K1, K2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6, Y7
Although people will say it all goes downhill, it's not entirely true and you will learn to appreciate the simpler mechanics of the early games. Yakuza 5 will be something to look forward to, also.
Yakuza 5 is great but I think the whole Haruka section is something a lot of people disliked. I know people who never finished the game because of it. Although it's a matter of taste I guess, I enjoy rhythm games so I liked it.
I dropped it once I found out Saejima had to break out of prison again
You shouldn't have. While the prison section feels like a repeat, living with hunters in the snowy mountains then getting to discover sapporo is great.
Nah I found out the Shinada guy was apparently the only good thing about the game and he wasn't until part 4 so I just watched a playthrough on youtube and I'm glad I did because wew 5 was such a shitshow
>I watched a playthrough of 5
>Shinada is the only good part
>REEEE 5 bad
prime npc zerogay
*ahem* 5 is not the best. It's okay at best. I didn't mind Haruka's part and Shinada's moveset is garbage.
literally the opposite, kiryu and saejima parts are the only good ones.
it starts decent with kiryu, then peaks with saejima punching bear and prison kino, goes into the trash with haruka unless you are you fricking autistic and like playing the same 3 minigames for like 8 hours, akiyama shows up a moment, and then by the time you are 60 hours in and shinada shows up, you want to have a nice day.
>but I think the whole Haruka section is something a lot of people disliked
That's the only part of the game I enjoyed.
This guy walks by you and does absolutely nothing. How do you react?
I walk up to him and tell my life story as well as my most pressing issue - which I then ask him to fix by beating the shit out of people.
You know you gonna end up with Kiryu giving you a life lesson and not solving your real problem though.
Unless your problem is with loan sharks, then you are 100% guaranteed to get debt free.
Release order:
K1, K2, 3, 4, 5, 0, 6, J, 7, LJ
>Release order
0 came before K1
Why would you need to play judgement after any of the other games? It's a self contained story.
why would you need to play any game after Judgment?
Because Lost Judgment is better gameplay wise.
>homosexuals are still trying to gatekeep newer players because of Yakuza 0
>"oldgays" pretending to hate the best one in the series just because it made the game popular
0 then Judgment then Judgment 2
Play 0 first, you won't give a frick about Nikishi or Majima if you don't
>0gays actually say this shit
K1 actively ruins Yakuza 1 Majima and 0 doesn't "fix" the problems with Nikishiyama's arc.
Yakuza story qs a whole is always shit and basically j-soap opera tier anyway. Judgment did the story way better
>j-soap opera
Um actually they're called terenoberurus.
Playing 0 first will ruin your ability to enjoy the rest of the series. The kiwami games have much less going on so they feel like a step backwards, and if you complete them, you get to play the 'remasters' of 3-5, which are even worse in this respect.
>Playing 0 first will ruin your ability to enjoy the rest of the series
yeah, if you're a moronic zoomer maybe
nani
it does not matter
play in any order
(all "series" are like this)
do not be neurotic.
>Zero
>Kiwami
>Kiwami 2
>Remasters
>7
>Judge Eyes
>Judge Eyes 2
OP here, decided to start with 0 and then play in order. Thanks for the recommendations everyone
>and then play in order
I can't say for Yakuza 1 (ps2), but Yakuza 2 (ps2) emulated holds surprisingly well, I played in order 0 > kiwami 1 > yakuza 2 (ps2) > yakuza 3
and yakuza 2 (ps2) is still a fine game, my mind even gets it's graphically blurred with the rest of the series, in my head the graphics are just like yakuza 0.
Y2 has good art direction but the character models are very outdated. Combat is meh too
0 if you plan to play the Kiwami games instead of the OG 1 and 2
0 if you only want to find out what Yakuza is all about
conclusion, start with 0. It's not always cheap on steam in comparison to the others for a reason, it's supposed to be an entry point for newcomers and it's a prequel, so no baggage.
>bu-but le references to future games
So play it again after finishing the other games.
Post prime Haruka
0 is completely and utterly pointless. Kiryu's story is a rehash of his Y1 story and Majima's complete forgetable. Being a prequel means that none of the main characters or story beats ever come up again. You see this in 6 which at the beginning has Kiryu reminsce over his past adventures of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Not 0 despite having been made and released post-0.
0 expands up nothing for 1's characters either. Nishiki is barely there, no Yumi, lol Kazams's in jail, no Date in his prime, etc. It's literally end of generation engine asset rehash (more than usual even) filler: the game.
>Majima's is completely forgettable
You are either trolling or out of your mind, Majima's story in 0 is what the kids would call "kino"
Ganker is where fat bitter middle aged men come to feel cool and unique by saying anything popular is shit.
>You are either trolling or out of your mind, Majima's story in 0 is what the kids would call "kino"
Okay, but I'm not a kid. Majima's been a literal nothing character since the very first game. I don't even recall half his story in 0 other than being mopey and leading around some blind lady.
>Pocket Fighter
Literal: WHO? Some optional you may never bump into him again side quest bait?
>Muh Majima epilogue
I didn't play K2 so this means nothing to me. All I know is that Majima modes near-universally agreed to be crap.
>nevercomes up again
Pocket Fighter returns in 6, Majima gets an epilogue to 0 in k2
Does anyone know where I can download Kenzan from? I'm looking all over and I can't find a website to download it from.
Any PS3 rom website should have it.
I've went to multiple and I can't find Kenzan
Try KHHsubs
0, K1 OG2, and the rest is pretty simple to figure out
Dead Souls is canon btw
There's nothing really saying it can't be outside of how quickly it all happened and how Akiyama already had his money back when it's I believe within a year of 4? Then there's the government that went from demolishing buildings to set up their secret government barricades to taking them all down from Kamurocho. They even have a reason for why Ryuji is still around.
There's a moment where Majima and Daigo goes to Purgatory and Daigo says something along the lines of "so this is purgatory" even though he's already been there in Yakuza 2. So either Dead Souls isn't canon or this Daigo is a fake and the real one died on the ruff.
I love how they made an entire game out of a silly climax battle with Dead Souls, and then they made Dead Souls into a minigame with Kamuro of the Dead in Judgment.
They also made The Castle of the Dead in BP2.
Kamuro of the Dead > Hama of the Dead.
Actually, Hama of the Dead is better.
>Hama of the dead arcade game
Yes
I really enjoyed 0 and K1 but I'm dreading playing K2 right now, should I drop it in favor of the PS2 game or should I keep going through it? I don't really care about the minigames, the only thing I care about is the Majima epilogue.
You're an idiot.
Play kiwami two, there's nothing wrong with it. The dragon engine is still better than all the outdated mechanics in the og game
Majima's epilogue is great
all you need to know about 2 is that Kiryu gets a girlfriend who immediately leaves for America at the start of 2 and is literally never mentioned again. You can skip. The ending is fricking awful too
start of 3 I mean
Why would anyone play 0 and the Kiwami games first? You are going from ps4 games to ps3 games which will be jarring mechanically.
0 is a ps3 game. It was ported to the ps4
0 and K1 are PS3 games.
Not really, you just punch people
whats the best way to farm rare mats like gold/silver ingots and rare ores? Is it just going through the same 8 levels of the sotenbori battle arena?
Go into NG+ and buy them from the black market. Otherwise yes, either the Battle Arena, I think the FMT had them and that's easy to run plus you need to for money + reliable golden bugs, or I think the Kamurocho Underground also had some.
Is there a way to level up the legend styles faster without using super speed with cheat engine?
I think there's some sort of automated script for it but no. If you're actually thinking of doing the 999 I believe it takes close to 100 hours for Kiryu since one level up is either four or five minutes of just putting money into the orbs and then you have to go get more money from Shakedown every two or three level ups I think it was which is at least 6 minutes per go. Even more if you want Majima because you have to go to Vincent, transfer the money, run to Real Estate, swap characters, go next to the Grand, take the money out, run back to Sunshine, and repeat.
Oh yeah, good point. But in Dead Souls' case isn't the Purgatory in it a different one in a different location because of the shuttering of West Park for Kamuro Hills?
I don't remember. Purgatory should still connect to the sewer in children's park before the dragon engine games retconned it and made it go to the hotel district.
>Purgatory should still connect to the sewer in children's park
Pretty sure the only time this held true was in 4.
What about 5?
I don't remember entering the sewers at all in 5, or entering purgatory through the children's park.
I decided to check both. Dead Souls and 5 both let you into it but Dead Souls takes you immediately to Purgatory while 5 lets you go through the sewers.
If they had them back in the day I'd assume they'd ask for all Heat Actions and then you have the minigame requirements. Dear lord if they asked for the highest points in Kakashi training I think my mind would have exploded from the anger, and then there's the yuujo games that I believe require you to go through a full date to attempt. Thinking about it, watermelon training would also most likely have to be like Ishin's cannonball training requirement so like 3 misses = no completion list for you.
Oh wow, I forgot he summoned anything.
I think the sewer is still there (Or the manhole is at least). I know you go through a different sewer via Kamuro Hills to reach it in Dead Souls since there's that whole "Escort Daigo" bit but if I remember right it's still the same entrance just with the exit locked/blocked.
I personally didn't care for it because it felt like there was more enemy spam yet was somehow easier and that one new zombie type introduced in it just meant spamming bullets at a bunch of one-shot enemies filling your screen.
>one new zombie type
Which one? I thought they were all from dead souls/kamuro of the dead
These guys. They weren't from Dead Souls unless I blanked on some sort of fodder mob.
I think those zombies showed up during the dead souls penultimate boss
Penultimate boss was Ornstein and Smough quadrupeds + that armored guy while the final boss is not-Nemesis. You fight the latter in both Kamuro and Hama of the dead.
No you're right those weren't in the game. God I wished they would just throw in House of the Dead 1 in the arcades.
Found the part where those zombies showed up (16:45)
Ah right when he summons them, I kinda remembered that but he was so easy I rarely see it.
0's a good starting point but its also definitively the best game in the series soooo maybe just play them in release order.
Dont play Kiwami 2 or 6, they are shit
6 is shit but Kiryu calling the final boss a babyface and letting loose was kino
It was weird having an anticlimax boss for Kiryu's """""final""""" game, but I did get a guffaw out of that and the objective description saying something like "he means nothing to me."
K2 is good
So I'm gunning for 100% for LJ, I heard the drone racing is much easier. Is that true? The only arcade game that gave me even a little trouble was virtual fighter 5 and I'm like near the end of the four main school stories. Still around chapter 5.
i didn't notice that much differences from judgements
Yes, far more forgiving and the streets of the city are far wider than kamurocho which was just cruel at times.
NTA but I'm polishing off the first game, and drone racing was definitely not a highlight for me. It starts off slow and boring, then quickly progresses to being so fast that it's rough to maintain your position without constant crashing.
Then there's the baffling pacing of it. There's only 5 tracks. And you do all of them in the first GP. Then you do them in reverse with different boost pad placements in the second GP. Then you go through both circuits again. Then you do the 5 and 5 together in one cup for the last GP. You're completely sick of the tracks by the end of it.
Thank the frick christ that you can pause GPs so I could save between races for the last one. Doing an endurance run of getting first place in every track all in one go for the CP list objective would probably be a nightmare.
And what do you actually get out of it? 1 out of 6 free play passes for Dice and Cube? Eat my balls. Oh, and don't forget to grind money to get every frame with every paint job on each of them if you want 100%. What's that? Make the paint can a one time buy and let you just customize your drone's look whenever you want? What kind of stupid idea is that? It's only like that in every other RGG game with a minigame like this.
Yeah, drone racing in Judgment 1 fricking sucks and is a contender for the worst mini-game.
And they actually make you do all of it for that free pass piece.
Call me paranoid but I think it was deliberate. Remember, those shitty passes were offered as microtransactions and that DLC store button was and still is right on the damn pause menu screen. Sure, Sega eventually took them down from the in-game dlc page and you have to search for it on the psn store page instead but the fact it took them a year to do that despite how clearly scummy it was proves to me rgg caved and made a cancerous minigame just to push that garbage. Glad both parties ceased with LJ, sad that put a style behind the paywall instead considering how good and closely tied it was to one of the school stories.
One would think their shitty gacha game takes care of raking in the big money, but apparently not enough
Thankfully with the release of both games on PC, everything is just included as part of the initial purchase outside of Kaito Files, which, if you buy it on its own right now during the sale, cost roughly the same as fricking LAD7.
I ended up getting the whole judgment bundle from a key site for 60 bucks, though, which I think is a relatively fair price.
>Yeah, drone racing in Judgment 1 fricking sucks and is a contender for the worst mini-game.
Not when Puyo Puyo existed.
It's enjoyable, at least for me, after learning how to play for a bit. Not nearly as frustrating as racing these slippery ass drones through Millenium Tower
This really seems like a skill related problem, I've done every single drone race in Judge Eyes with ease and enjoyed them like I would pocket circuit. On the other hand you couldn't pay me to play 5 minutes of the dogshit that was Puyo Puyo. Maybe try not sucking at races?
Drone racing is significantly easier. You don't need to part match anymore just equip the best ones you got and you're good to go. The only hard course at all is the Seiryo High one (Both forward and reverse) but once you learn how you do the tight turns into the gym and around the staircase it becomes you like 15 seconds ahead of first place. The time trials are also way more forgiving.
Mostly easy, pathetically easy if you got the season pass/dlc which gives you that amazing drone that makes majority of a cake walk. If you beat the fighting game arcades the only really annoying arcade game left is doing that shitty 50 pick ups in hama of the dead which also was in Judge eyes. Such a shit trophy.
You know for how much the dragon engine gets wrong, it really leads up to some hilarious unintentional moments.
You just stabbed out his internal rudder.
Production order. Stay mad forever 0frauds
Play none of them. Play Judgment first then maybe Lost Judgment. Judgment improves on everything from Yakuza 0 and it's the only Yakuza I played and it's dogshit. I can't imagine 1-6. Maybe 7 is good.
Either
1 2 3 4 5 0 K 6 K2 7 (Release order)
Or
0 K K2 3 4 5 6 7 ("Chronological" modern experience)
You can play Judgment whenever, nothing major in the story is influenced by main franchise.
Lost Judgment after 7, because it spoils some stuff from 7 otherwise
It's worth mentioning but not recommending the newbie/ zoomer route.
0 (maybe K1 and K2) 7 Judgement and Lost Judgement
Speaking of trophies I can only imagine how hard Kenzan would have been if it had it. It has some of the worst of 1, 3 and judge eye tier difficulty. Some of it do to the engine being brand new and the wonky physics fricking things up.
Wow, it's easy to forget that PS3 games didn't have trophies at first. I remember it being a big deal when MGS4 had trophies patched in.
>turtle racing which had barely a guide in the game and had to wing it
>shogi and majong being pure cancer as always with no cheat items
>many many missables
>bowling having terrible physics with the pins making those challenges absolute cancer
>the geisha had radomized conversations hence why there are no guides and you just have to wing it
>if you suck at rhythm games you will absolutely hate the training at the waterfall
>fighting amon legit is one of the harder ones in the series
>oh and so many fricking missables
yeah that game would probably be a 9/10 difficulty on psn for sure
>hence why there are no guides
http://shenmue.fc2web.com/ryuu/ryuu_yumeji.html
http://shenmue.fc2web.com/ryuu/ryuu_azami.html
Turtle racing, kakashi training, melon cutting, fan throwing, and iroha karuta would be the worst parts about actually going for 100%.
Turtle racing is just 5's chicken racing but more annoying and if you want an undying turtle you needed to either eat everything at every restaurant, do all the yuujos, do all the training, or get all Heat Actiona, I can't remember which.
Kakashi training is not even remotely like Ishin's and has absurd time requirements while giving you a sword that does chip damage and it takes multiple hits to just break one. Even if you're max level it changes nothing in the damage.
Melon cutting would just take many many many many retries because you need to learn the pattern and slice times.
Fan throwing is nonsense and it's impossible to get used to how far you pull the stick back to throw straight because they change the heights while the AI has perfect accuracy.
Iroha Karuta is webm related and the AI already knows where cards are before rounds even start many times.
Waterfall training is really easy and only takes a couple tries to get used to the speed so you'd have to be really really bad at rhythm games to ever have an issue. Every other minigame would be fine, horse archery, jiraiya training, and kabuki theater being the easiest.
Funny how you call Kenzan your favorite game when every time you talk about it, you make it sound like complete misery.
Funny, isn't it? Like I said, it's got a ton of issues but I love that damn game so much and can't wait for the English Patch because I'm gonna try for the minigame 100% and redo all the 100% again. Yes, it has tons of really annoying and really bad things but it's genuinely a good game underneath the issues.
I went for everything but minigames. At the time I played I didn't know how to do mahjong (Just barely got the trophy for it in 2 HD), didn't know how to do the Japanese gambling games outside of cho-han, I spent like three hours on kakashi training and got nowhere, spent like two hours trying melon cutting and got nowhere, didn't touch any of the yuujo minigame requirements, and passed on turtle racing because I couldn't understand how to do it and there were no guides I could find easily to help me. I got the requirements for everything else.
Kenzan is a good and quite the unique game being the first 3D game and thus the transition was very, how should I say, bumpy. Areas server no purpose but for like one story event and its mostly there for atmosphere which is nice. Many areas are used for the first 4 chapters you never go back to for story reasons. Ishin while being based off that period of the Meiji era really tries to make things more, despite the violence, more hopeful and even the two ex friends make it out alive while Musashi dies in battle and feels like a cinematic movie story of the 50s and 60s. Kiryu as Sakamoto is still basically Kiryu to the T, while Musashi is a raunchy Kiryu at times which is refreshing. Its such a strange, janky but loveable game. Sad they may never bring it over in any form.
Musashi (Kiryu) got an moron but innocent sent to the gallows and allowed an evil murderous witch to get away with her crimes. Easily the darkest substory in the series because of how it ends.
The old models at times look uncanny as frick.
good job kiryu, you helped a killer get away with it
In Y4 you can break goons' jaws, and it gives them an extremely uncanny face.
Yeah and even then I felt the violence had been toned down from 3. Things never quite got back to the level they were back then.
>Areas server no purpose but for like one story event and its mostly there for atmosphere which is nice. Many areas are used for the first 4 chapters you never go back to for story reasons.
They reuse them a lot for substories or bounties.
>The canyon is used at least twice.
Gyoutensai's substory and a bounty.
>The wheat field is used for tengu training.
>Shishido's cave area is used for a bounty and I think a substory.
>Florist's street is used for many substories
The kunoichi, Benkei, Amon, and I know there was something at the western end regarding bandits?
>The street that takes you to the fork between waterfall training and I think the temple has a bounty I'm sure of and I think at least two substories.
>The shrine Musashi wakes up at I don't think has any substories but is one of the only places for the throat slice Heat Action since it's the only place with elevation you can fall off of.
>The farms have UFO-sama and one or two other substories.
>The suburbs have loads of substories and bounties.
>Gion has the majority of the content.
>Riverfront has the monk you go to every chapter for boss Heat Actions and at least one bounty on the western end of the beach (Facing the entrance to the suburbs).
The only ones they barely used are that "hub" area after the cave entrance map with the castle, the area west of Florist's street that you only go once for the story, and that area north of the teahouse. I guess you can count the teahouse too since it's just for going to the final area but it connects you to the riverfront, the Hozoin Tournament, and that dojo area north of it.
I guess I should have said "most content" instead of "censored content". The only things the patches can't restore are Answerxanswer (But that wasn't in EN anyway), Michiru's substories, and the hostesses.
What were they thinking with the AI for this, fricking bullshit. I decided to go with the other minigame every time because they cheat.
everything you mentioned is why i only went for the standard completion, ie just get all skills, max levels and beating amon. that game's completion list is pure evil.
Yeah Ishin had like a hard minigame or two but even they are nothing compared to the jank of Kenzan which were fricking brutal and unfair. If people hate 3 or JE because of drone racing/puyu they'd absolutely despise this game's existence.

The insane ragdolling in 6 and K2 really grew on me after a few hours and I'm tired of pretending that it's bad
Call it shit taste if you want but I had a fricking blast even if both of those games are easy as shit
The ragdolling of enemies in itself isn't bad, it's actually alright. The problem is when you get knocked down and start ragdolling like a spaghetti, this is super prevalent in any dragon engine game and it still hasn't even been adressed.
And that's not even getting to all the gutted heat actions/moves that they never brought back from the old engines, or the slow and sluggish feel of the new moveset, and the block bouncing.
I'm doing its boys. Hooking my PS3 back up to replay Yakuza 4 & 5. I own the remasters but the only one worth playing was 3 because it brought back a shitload of cut content. I need OG Tanimura and 5 suck ass no matter what so why not return to 30fps as it was truly envisioned to be.
>I need OG Tanimura
Good thing there's a mod for that, and for restoring every single cut licensed thing.
>so why not return to 30fps as it was truly envisioned to be
Go be moronic somehwere else.
>and for restoring every single cut licensed thing.
Even the opening with Butterfly City?
>Even the opening with Butterfly City?
Yes, even that opening. Everything can be restored.
>mods
I didn't have a gaming pc until last week, while the remasters are years old at the point. No mods for me. Y5's engine made the game feel like shit on both the PS3 and PS4 so I give no shits about the framerate. You can't stop me now!
>30fps
Oh yeah. Sure it is. We'll be here when you crawl back. Isn't there an OG Tanimura mod for the remaster, anyway?
Play 0 first. I played first game on PS2 back when it first got released. It took a while to get into the world of the yakuza. Not terribly hard but 0 is the better introduction.
Are the remasters good?
3R is the best English version. Otherwise the best version is JP PS3 3.
4 vs. 4R is entirely dependent on if you want 30 FPS but no issues or 60 FPS but issues. Otherwise they're pretty much identical in English. JP PS3 4 is the best version because it has all the content, otherwise PC/hacked PS4 would arguably be the best.
5 vs. 5R is a lot more contentious. They retranslated the game (Despite it being the same translation team) and the few samplings of comparisons we've seen paint 5R to be making up dialogue or getting dialogue completely wrong like picture related which doesn't bode well for the rest of the translation.
All games have issues because of the 60 FPS. Outside of the quickstepping issue the only thing you can fix is some very minor performance issues with SilentPatch on PC. You can restore the censored content with a hacked PS4 or a PC but can't bring back Michiru's substories in 3R or the hostesses across all three games.
If you play the games unpatched on PS4 they apparently had random memes and modern slang thrown in for no real reason but that got patched out.
4 Remastered got a few lines retranslated as well, there's a mod to restore them. There's also the issue of cut costumes like Saejima's Imperial Army one in 5R, and the various trademarks cut such as Don Quixote and bilibili ads which can also be modded back in.
Sadly Don Quixote tune was also patched on out PS4 3 & 4. PS3 versions remain godly.
>PS3 versions remain godly.
The PC versions you fricking idiot.
>buggy farmed out peecee ports for westoid bandwagon hoppan 0 babbys
>godly

no
have a nice day my man, I own all the games on consoles and if you prefer those versions you should do a flip off a bridge and end your miserable life.
uhhh where's k2, sister?
Where are Ishin and Kenzan?
Yeah um, why is Don Quixote missing 7 and LJ. Did something happen?
It got turned in a police station for at least one of the games and henceforth never returned.
that was 7, and he was asking WHY it happened out of universe, they got Yoshinoya in Lost Judgment so I doubt it's a matter of not trying (Don Quixote is also back for Ishin Kiwami afaik)
Yeah, it's back. They also revamped it because you can go into it without a loading screen though it looks a bit more cramped because of that. The Chinese gameplay video of the demo only shows the inside when he's doing the delivery friendship/substory but I know I saw someone else post demo footage that had a guy step inside and it was way smaller.
It's just drone racing in Remastered. Shogi has solution videos, Outrun is easy if you just go left/left/right, and drone QR stuff is guide fodder since I don't recall there being any way to reasonably find them. Quickstarter is just going to take time because you need to grind Dice & Cube a lot.
>That fricking card system
CANCER, also fan dancing is still shit.
Probably just license expired and 7 needed one police station for the plot, while for LJ it was probably due to laziness in trying to implement it again in kamurucho.
THERE ARE DAYS
THERE ARE NIGHTS
Try the first game on PS2. If the camera angles bother you, then skip it and just play Kiwami 1 instead; DO NOT force yourself to play any game if you can't even dig the camera angles.
I'm going for the 100% in JE Remastered, what are the biggest hiccups I'm going to encounter? I already dread those Shogi puzzles, and the drone QR code scouting and OutRun.
Drone racing, easily the hardest mini-game in that title but also one of the hardest mini-game and hardest version of said mini-game in the series.
If you don't like her, you got filtered.
I am against the grain here and recommend K1 then 0 then K2, I feel this gives the freshest feeling, since for some reason playing K1 after 0 felt like a chore with less fun combat, and the fact I would've liked not knowing much about nishiki then finding out why kiryu cared so much about him. Instead of building him up with a shit ton of back story first then him in K1.
I will say there isn't a perfect order to play the games, and my personal order is very against orthodoxy in these threads. K1 is quite short, has subpar combat and the story isn't nearly as grand as 0, so the transition between 0 and K2 with K1 feels awkward and kills a lot of steam and momentum you might have.
>Makoto finally getting reunited with Tachibana
