maybe if he wasn't named tricker and used libra on himself, and instead was just named something to the effect of I HATE LIGHTNING someone might have fallen for his trick
now pic related has an annoying mechanic, I'm surprised he didn't become a recurring gimmick enemy like marlboro, tonberry or ahriman
Where are the other party members?
well it's the gba version, so probably the lunar whale
I’ve played the GBA version recently, that’s not how it works. You always have five people in your party in the endgame, you swap them out one by one in Mysidia.
He casts reflect on himself and all party members to start the fight.
Evil Mask is the first time I remember it being used, but there's been a few other enemies in the series that does the same thing. Not retro, but I remember just recently Bravely Default did it in one of the refights against the white mage.
That said, I really liked that Evil Mask showed up as a random encounter with the boss music and was still pretty difficult, plus his design as a robotic face that casts high powered magic is pretty cool, like he's a static defense turret or something.
That makes me think of the portrait of Dorian Grey. Kinda fits in context of Cecil and the trial to become a paladin.
that font is pure cancer. i could never play these updated versions of classic rpgs
I think it looks better
Mind refreshing me on what he does anon? Sure I could look him up, but why do that when I can bump OP's great thread idea?
This fricker never gave me the glass mask when I was farming for all the best gear. It was one of the last pieces I needed.
These are both mogged by red dragons as far as final dungeon enemies go.
I remember red dragons being a nightmare in the ds version but not the original
They’re definitely harder in the DS version (just like almost everything else), but they can still be a hassle in the original, especially when they come in threes.
>especially when they come in threes.
I always thought that was a bug
IIRC, they stack them like that because they couldn’t fit them all on screen. But it is actually three you’re fighting.
>in the final dungeon
>dragon appears
>hah psyche it's actually just three dragons stacked on top of each other see the shadow is a different color duh
super cool sprite
*exists*
did the devs realize that what they were trying to do with this fight didn't actually work
I doubt it, a lot of stuff from IV feels rushed.
Yeah that was the rough one
Is this from Mystic Quest?
It’s in the last dungeon in Final Fantasy IV, it got renamed to Li’l Murderer in most if not all of the rereleases.
>Li’l Murderer
For god's sake. Why does anybody ever play those stupid remakes
Extra content. I enjoyed the bonus dungeons in the GBA versions of FF4, 5 and 6. Still prefer the originals in every other way though
Who cares what the silly Japanese people called it? Maybe that word doesn't sound stupid to them, or maybe they just have bad taste. Either way it shouldn't be translated into something that sounds stupid. Not that "Tricker" is good but it's better than this.
I would assume pretty much everyone would care about the original script of the piece of media they are enjoying.
Why would you even start playing an RPG if you're aggressively disinterested in the text?
Li'l Murderer is a better name since youre more likely to fall for his trick when hes not literally called "trickster".
lmao
Huh. I could have sworn I've seen them before. But they're def not from FF:MQ.
>rereleases
what's the point of this post
that poster wasn't telling you to play the releases
are you just virtue signalling
Idiot.
The PSP version is very good.
The gameboy advance version has a better translation but some worse sound, errors and slowdown compared to the original
The original US FF2 on snes is a stripped down version of the Japanese version with a bad translation.
In this case you have to go for a “rerelease” or alternative version if you don’t speak Japanese.
Anyway what the frick is your problem. Fricking turd.
Osmose fodder for Rydia
>a book about OP
He loves tricking.
GrIMP is clearly a Great Imp, not a Grey Imp. Motherfricker ain't even grey. Same with all the other Gr- enemies..
It's actually "guard"
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Goblin_Guard_(Final_Fantasy)
It’s supposed to be gimp
Girl Imp
FFV had the most annoying enemies. Gil Turtle, Jackanape, the stupid squirrel butthole. Frick those guys
For me it’s not realizing Wyvern counters summons with meganuke. I just assumed he attacked very quickly with it.
