    Republic commando

Republic Commando is much worse than what people remember it being. 2005 was a long time ago and Xbox shooters were mostly shit, so something mediocre stood out. That's what people remember.

Nah I played it on PC a couple years ago with all the widescreen and FOV fixes and I still love it

The only thing bad about Republic Commando is that it's short, rest of the game is solid though.

It has atrocious friendly AI. You know, the thing that people keep praising about it. They can stand for ages next to enemies without even trying to attack and sometimes don't even obey your direct targeted attack commands. And somehow none of that bullshit extends to the enemy AI, which has no problem attacking your squad. Also the enemies are ridiculous bullet sponges. It literally takes ALL of your ammo that you can carry to solo-kill one super droid, and several magazines to kill one that has been weakened by an EMP nade. Also, the melee attack has buffered input, so if you press that button another time before the attack has finished, another one starts once it has. That has never been useful design.

        Anonymous

It's pretty unremarkable, especially considering Brothers in Arms came out the same year and Full Spectrum Warrior a year prior which both had full squad control. All that keeps it going is the Star Wars coat of paint and operator wannabe types who fetishize the grunt personalities.

Battlefront 2 was really starting to realize it's potential when they pulled support for it
Another year of content and updates and imagine what it could have become

      Anonymous

Ea Front 2 never had such potential because it had less content from the better battlefront more than a decade ago. Dice/EA only updated the game because of Disney as a result of TLJ and Solo flopping.

        Anonymous

I loved classic Battlefront but you need to realize just how far EAfront II had come from launch
Another year and we could have had shit like split screen instant action, OT ship phase for supremacy, and more supremacy maps for all the eras

          Anonymous

The problem is that the game had to be a complete package on day because it was essentially an ad for Episode 9. As you know TROS suffered at the box office. The good Battlefront 2 was part of the Clone War multi media project, aka the build up and hype to Episode 3, so it had to be good to sell movie tickets and merch.

            Anonymous

They were tying the live service in with Star Wars releases which was a cool idea, we got TLJ content right before the movie, Solo content, then ROS content
If they had kept going we could have gotten shit for Clone Wars Season 7 (which we kind of did) and Bad Batch and Mando and Kenobi etc etc
But EA pulled the plug to move all the debs over to Flopfield 2042

              Anonymous

Most of those were failures because Disney still suffered losses overall. The live action shows and cartoons are really niche and only slowed the death of star wars. I think if you what said happened back from 2002-2005, star wars would've been long dead.

Inquisitors/Force-sensitive Imperial Jedi hunters existed pre-Filoni, he just gave them a uniform and a stupid lightsaber

pretty much, also non-force users made up the inquisitors. Unlike the Filioni ones, the reals ones were actually a threat, being experienced knights to masters, all could easily otk Cal. I didn't even mention the shadow guards or the emperors hand.

In all fairness. beating the shit out of a teenager who had lost his connection to the Force and haven't had any training since he was 12 is not much of an achievement.

the Emperor's Hands weren't even close to as well-trained as real Jedi, they served the same purpose as Inquisitors, tracking down escaped Padawans and other jobbers while Vader handed the big boys

and Shadow Guards were frickin dumb

The fact that Mara Jade could easily take Luke's lightsaber had she been in return of the Jedi is kinda terrifying. In the right places all three branches could frick your shit up.

Nu-canon confirmed all inquisitors were weak on purpose because Palpatine feared them while in the E.U he didn't give a shit because he already become powerful.

2006 was the last year of good star wars vidya which was empire at war. Pretty much everything before it was great and everything after was trash

The only correct answer. Peak Star Wars media was 1995-2005, the hype for the franchise finally fizzling out once Revenge of the Sith's media push had died down and the public moved on. Empire at War was at the tail end of this golden age in early 2006. Nothing of any real note came out for the rest of 2006 or 2007, unless you count Forces of Corruption. The Force Unleashed released in 2008, and will never not be a mild disappointment by default considering that was what we got instead of another Jedi Knight game.

From 2009 onwards until Disney bought out Star Wars, nothing other than a shit TFU sequel no one asked for and a few PSP Battlefront cash-ins. And we all know what's come out since Disney came into the picture.

probably as far as i remember you could only get it with the dancedancemalak console command so if you didn't cheat you wouldn't know about it

it was doable on the console version, too. you needed a second controller plugged in port 4 and to hold hold L,R & Y on both, then open the door.

we're never getting a star wars story from the imperial's perspective ever again

BF2 doesn't frickin count, the b***h defected after the third mission. Squadrons Imperial side wasn't too bad, but didn't match TIE Fighter's feel of just being a regular grunt and had to do the regular peacekeeping duties the Empire was doing.

Tour 2 is still my favorite since you put down a system civil war by eventually kidnapping leaders on both sides and forcing a treaty on them at basically gunpoint
