Compared to other games Crash Team Racing's microtransactions are so ignorable that you wouldn't even realize they are in the game unless you sought it out.
Yes, because Sonic is at least the endearing type of cringe where you want to watch it like a trainwreck, Crash's is just embarrassing in a non funny way
It succeeded well enough, but it could've been stronger, and still relevant, if the online was better.
Apparently porting it to PC would've accomplished this, plus 60 fps which is vital for karting games I guess.
They changed blue fire to make it less strategic.
They fricked up some of the hitboxes.
30fps with dips. No 60fps patch for next gen games.
The online is terrible.
Actually a pretty competent recreation of ctr, it's just mangled by a shitty shop system they were probably forced to include. Also while blue fire is extremely satisfying to maintain for single player and time trials, it is terrible for casual multiplayer play so skill differences in a lobby feel almost insurmountable even with items that are supposed to even the playing field. I dont know how you could go about fixing that without purists throwing a fit though.
I think the best way to fix online balance if the game ever gets ported to PC would be to make a new racing mode in online.
>Fun mode
Double the usefulness of all items, re-balance all items to be borderline unfair. This will be the fun gamemode casual players enjoy, being good at keeping blue fire will matter less if people are spamming you with blue orbs, clocks and missiles >Competition mode
Everything is exactly the same as now, except items are turned off. Players can still crash into each other so it's different than fighting against ghosts, but races are measured more in raw skill than in item luck.
Casual players will flock to fun mode because they just want a fun chaotic kart race. Speed autists will flock to Competition mode because generally they all hate items with a passion
I actually have no idea.
Tons of free content updates.
Tons of characters.
Tons of skins.
Tons of courses.
FMVs to introduce the new courses.
Basically everything that was in every previous Crash racing game.
And it's fricking DEAD. Why isn't it like Smash ultimate?
Because the gameplay is trash. Most people don't care about the autistic drifting garbage, having to know every track to perfection and not stop drifting for a single second. People just want a chill kart game to have fun and laugh at.
Online was hardcore for the average player which made people quit, also no host migration so you’d ended up in the lobby waiting more than actually playing
I don't know, I love the original but I just can't bring myself to play more than a few hours of the remake.
People with more experience with the game, what is this missing that the original CTR has? Soul goes without saying.
The online killed it >No dedicated servers and no host migration, results in a lot of lag and constant exits to the main menu >No SBMM, resulting in boring races where you finish first without problem DNFing everyone >Blue fire is extremely fast making you invulnerable to every weapon that is not a blue orb or a clock
Then unironically git gud
I spent most of my time playing on the time trial, William P. dev times are pure unfiltered kino
Also playing with other autistic obsessed people on private lobbies, a no-object mode was necessary for online, the game is so much enjoyable that way
Man, beating all dev times was fun, even when it was such a grind.
I was surprised on how people had different hard tracks when it came to dev times. Pic related is my ranking on how hard/easy the dev times were for me.
You can do it Anon! Don't give up!
I haven't played CTR:NF for a while, maybe I should fire it up and grind some TT for fun.
>Turbo track
I remember beating it and seething hard because William clearly lets you win at the end, he loses all reserves on purpose, just before entering the last turn in lap 3.
Personally the one I took the most time to beat was Dragon Mines, not because the dev was faster than me but I was in a race to get ahead of the trolley on the third lap, I ended beating William time like for 1+ second lol
Yeah. I wish I knew that, but the grind was real and I reset until I got the U-Turns every lap. My thumbs almost became rock-hard.

It was sarcasm you stupid ass. It's hard to git gud at the game when most of your time is spent looking at a loading screen. I can't believe I had to actually explain that to you.

>can't believe I had to actually explain that to you
Ironic
>>Blue fire is extremely fast making you invulnerable to every weapon that is not a blue orb or a clock
The worst part is that online uses a different item rotation to offlien multiplayer. There's a shitton of orbs and clocks online. You never see them online. Online also has the super engine which is fricking awful, worse than thunderclouds in MK Wii.
Fricking LOADING TIMES killed this game for me, even when online was alive you still spend 50% of your time actually racing and 50% sitting in menus waiting on other players or waiting on a loading screen
Mario Kart 8 lobbies are so fricking fast, the time between a race ending and starting is one or two minutes at most.
In CTR NF that shit can take like five minutes. The load times are insane, then you have to watch a podium animation, then back to the lobby which usually disbands and you have to search again.
Not to mention fricked up invisible items and other stupid bullshit
It does? Is there a mod I don't know of that shortens them or something? I don't even play the game on Yuzu because of the fricking ridiculous load times. Phil-sama needs to bring it to Xbox and Windows ASAP.
It's a ticking time bomb. Whenever the ingame shop/servers inevitable shut down, most of the game's items will be completely unobtainable.
At that point you may as well just play the original CTR + NK instead.
30fps and loading times that are more than double those of the original PlayStation version. And unlike the N. Sane Trilogy, there's no PC version that fixes those issues.
At least in NSane's case, the late port to Switch forced the devs to rethink their loading routines, which they backported to the original PS4 release which dramatically improved them at no visual cost.
>How on earth is this thread on page 9 already?
CTR is not as famous as you think it is.
At first I thought it was the initial barrier of learning the mechanics to start playing, but ASShomosexualS is moronicly famous and it's as complex if not more (I think, never played more than three times)
I just meant that last reply was 5 minutes ago so wouldn't think it would drop like a rock to page 9.
But yeah. I'm trying to get Tiger Temple webm. I realized quite late that he didn't mean Tiny temple and I feel quite silly.
>pc port >casual lobby - reserves disabled >comp lobby - items disabled >faster load times/better connectivity
this would have saved crash and racing games
why is Ganker so fricking stupid? all they do is suck nintendos dick all day then "pretend" they dont like them (not like they even play games anyway)
main issue with nitro fueled is easy, netcode was funky and no pc port.
i dont think the new game theyre making will be a success, and it isnt, i hope to god they take crash out of toys 4 bobs hands.
actually a pretty good idea, if you couldnt mantain blue fire you were fricked, thats right
>try to play the game for fun with my brother >normal ai is hard to beat, harder than 150cc on mk >there's one ai that wins or go second every race, which means we lose almost every cup to it
After that I uninstalled and never played again, that was my experience, I suspect something similar happened to a good chunk of people
at this point im not even mad about there not being a PC release and gave up on the idea, but i still can't wrap my head around WHY there is no PC release >Crash 1, on all consoles and PC thanks to N trilogy >Crash 2, on all consoles and PC thanks to N trilogy >Crash 3, on all consoles and PC thanks to N trilogy >CTR Nitro Fueled, on all consoles, but not on PC >Crash 4, on all consoles and PC
it makes no sense, why port ALL the games to ALL platform but not port on PC the one PC players would want the most?
>Because the MTX, anon. PC version will be super easy to hack.
i can understand the logic, but there are a TON of games with microtransactions exactly like nitro fueled, and those too can be hacked, yet they're on all platforms anyway, including PC, so it doesn't seem like a likely factor
Nitro Kart is an alternate universe version of CTR where it’s one of those unpolished clones that were made to get a quick buck out of the Mario Kart audience
There are still a lot of bugs I'd love fixed and of course the online is just a disaster
Load times are also a disaster
And it's not on PC
I'm still very glad NF exists. Those are glaring issues but the rest of the game is a god damn 10/10.
Game is amazing and would be even better without a few glaring issues like >terrible multiplayer connections >locked 30 fps
Reminder that you cannot create Crash threads on Ganker unless the OP is negative as this has been proven countless times
microtransactions

>no PC release
This

>had literally no effect on the gameplay
It's still fricking garbage.
That they stopped supporting it.
Compared to other games Crash Team Racing's microtransactions are so ignorable that you wouldn't even realize they are in the game unless you sought it out.
>That they stopped supporting it.
It's full to the brim with content, what else could they have done?
>what else could they have done?
Twinsanity, more Spyro characters and a Titan racer.
30fps
This, but it was inevitably the atrocious fricking load times that did me in, which they made WORSE with updates.
Lame generic mario kart clone but for furhomosexuals with the most autistic fanbase I've ever seen
Even more than Sonic?
Yes, because Sonic is at least the endearing type of cringe where you want to watch it like a trainwreck, Crash's is just embarrassing in a non funny way
>the most autistic fanbase I've ever seen
so nothing changed
>Lame generic mario kart clone
Isn't it based on Diddy Kong racing?
>but for furhomosexuals with the most autistic fanbase I've ever seen
How so?
>What went so terribly wrong?
toys for bob made the next crash game
Set expectations for the future too high
No PC port.
CTR is my favorite racing game ever and I haven't played the remake because of that
Switch version + Ryujinx + Ryusak shader cache
there's your PC version b***h
That doesn't fix the hour long load times.
It succeeded well enough, but it could've been stronger, and still relevant, if the online was better.
Apparently porting it to PC would've accomplished this, plus 60 fps which is vital for karting games I guess.
This is correct, I love nitro fueled with all my heart but the online had a lot of problems. Mainly the load times and the lack of host migration
They changed blue fire to make it less strategic.
They fricked up some of the hitboxes.
30fps with dips. No 60fps patch for next gen games.

I dont know how you could go about fixing that without purists throwing a fit though.
They changed how blue fire works in NF, so I don't see why "purists" would complain about reverting that change.
Online should have had a casual lobby filter which disabled reserves.
I think the best way to fix online balance if the game ever gets ported to PC would be to make a new racing mode in online.
>Fun mode
Double the usefulness of all items, re-balance all items to be borderline unfair. This will be the fun gamemode casual players enjoy, being good at keeping blue fire will matter less if people are spamming you with blue orbs, clocks and missiles

>No SBMM, resulting in boring races where you finish first without problem DNFing everyone

At least with super engine you can get infinite reserves, but yeah, it appears to many times
No PC port at 60fps. It was almost perfection, but they dropped the ball ignoring PC, so back to Mario Kart for me
For me it was the fricking load times. I didn't even bother trying to keep playing the game because I didn't want to wait four minutes to load a race.
Fricking LOADING TIMES killed this game for me, even when online was alive you still spend 50% of your time actually racing and 50% sitting in menus waiting on other players or waiting on a loading screen

>a fricking modded Switch has better load times than the game running on a PS5 in BC mode
All the devs had to do was fix one fricking thing.
It does? Is there a mod I don't know of that shortens them or something? I don't even play the game on Yuzu because of the fricking ridiculous load times. Phil-sama needs to bring it to Xbox and Windows ASAP.
CFW lets you overclock the boost modes, which the game uses during load screens.
I didn't have anywhere else to post this but wipeout is a much better series than F-zero
It's a ticking time bomb. Whenever the ingame shop/servers inevitable shut down, most of the game's items will be completely unobtainable.

It wasn't created by Naughtydog. The first CTR was made by Naughtydog. The rest are made by activation.
Long loading times and online issues. Fixing just these 2 things would've helped the game's longevity with the general public exponentially.
How on earth is this thread on page 9 already?
This. Dunno why Activision is so tarded. Shouldn't be too hard to code a proper kart racer online functions.
>How on earth is this thread on page 9 already?

ctr doesn't seem like it'll get a pc port either
Because the MTX, anon. PC version will be super easy to hack. Hell, Crash Team Rumble isn't coming to the switch for that very same reason.
It's just simple greed. Now play Nitro Fueled in a Switch emulator at 60fps with all the MTX unlocked like everyone else.
