This.
Too much min-maxing in builds came from arenas. World PvP was goofy and it had charm to it.
I would say you guys are wrong. Usually this is the right answer but the main problem is fact everyone believes this mythos Blizzard was great during thy early 00's but I would say when Warcraft 3 and WOW was coming out that was the start of their decline. They were riding the coattails of Warcraft hard and this was the sign of their greed being more focused on it than to try to make more Warcraft and Starcraft series that fans were begging them for years for. Yes Starcraft 2 came out eventually but because "it did not meet sales expectations " they decided to pull the plug and keep vanilla. But this was during the point where
All their talent retired. That's really all there is to it.
Blizzard as you knew them is dead and Activision is just wearing them like a skinsuit to sell a brand.
Everything made post SC2 was made by essentially a different studio. A few of the remaining old veterans worked on HotS, WoW Cataclysm, Mists and WoD, but everything after that was Blizzard in name only.
was retiring out due to age and we have the current crop we have today. Also if anyone doesn't think this is not happening with Rockstar studios and a few others they are kidding themselves and living on absolute copium.
Their early games were lightning in a bottle. Not even Blizzard really understood what made them good so when the time came that rehashing the formula was no longer viable there was nothing left but to coast on brand name recognition.
You know what dota is right?
Frankly I'm glad Blizzard never got their hands on it

That's because they lost DotA ownership to Valve in court, and then tried to enter the market with HotS, but failed miserably.

Underage. Blizzard had years to take advantage of DotA but ignored it until competitors started making clones, Valve was not even close to the first. It simply wasn't until Valve that finally acted.
I’d play poe if not for the shit movement system.
Let me bind movement to a key and use the mouse to move where I want to go instead of holding click. D3 wins on controls. I can’t play a game if it’s controls are hot garbage.

You can just put move as a skill on your skill bar and use it with one of the QWERT binds. That's what I do because the incessant clicking ends up making my wrist tired otherwise.
Only helps if your build can spare the slot though.
This. They tried to use the platform to push woke politics and that pushed people away. They eased off then BAM full wokeism. They permabanned me for asking about the checkboxes. Proof that they’re just a tool of the Antichrist.
this used to be a meme but now its reality. everything is getting ruined slowly. death by a thousand cuts. All I'm wondering now is how they're going to introduced LGBTQ+ into the new Diablo 4.
Yeah but not soon enough. All these people claim they don’t want laws. Let’s actually abolish the police for a few months. Let’s see how it plays out. My guess is there won’t be any “strong women” and “lgbt” left to complain.
The word you're looking for is patsy. They're a scapegoat to anything tangible that can be fixed. A mentally insane, hyperbolic distraction to go "Oh look, look, THIS is when the company went to shit!"
That Anon is right. It wasn't the insane staff or the milking rooms, but something that occurred over a decade prior.
Kotick is a classic malignant narcissist.
He's gone as far as to sockpuppet emails from subordinates addresses to sing his own praises.
The mans a complete fucking clown case whos been grifting his way around dotcom and gaming since highschool.
For whatever reason, gaming corporate is a dumping ground for these sorts of money-grubbing tools.
And, can you give me your opinion?
My opinion on stocks is unless you can tune into a call and say what the execs are gonna say before they say it, don't invest.
Don't leverage yourself out and take risks you can't absorb.
Don't invest in anything you aren't passionate about.
Idk who the shit would be passionate about blizzard in current year except to watch them plummet.
It gets despressed people that quick meaningless praise from twitter types. Once they lose interest and the dopamine hit fads they join the 41%. Its as shoet sided as shooting up heroin to deal with your personal issues.

Somehow, I have more respect for a dopehead than a chud. A guy slamming some heroin makes no illusions about what he is. He’s there to get high, he knows he’s a junkie, he accepts reality. A chud asks that you deny reality completely and accept them as something they aren’t, and even change laws around them.
Man can you imagine being a woman and when you finally start getting some recognition in different fields a bunch of wackos with a wig get in the way? Pffffffhahahha
It's almost like BRAND means absolutely nothing, and its a group of people who make magic happen.
Time killed Blizzard, everyone who made their great games retired or moved to other companies.
A lack of talent would explain a decline in game design or writing. Not purposely and almost vindictively ruining what was fine and working as intended.
If you genuinely don't know, I suggest looking up what they did instead of getting a qrd from Ganker. If you do know and are implying it wasn't ruined, then here's your (you).
For Overwatch specifically it was made my MMO devs who desperately wanted to make an MMO, but were forced to make Team Fortress.
They belittled their own community, refused to actually learn their game, and whenever they were faced with a problem, the game hastily reinvented itself rather than solve an issue.
project titan killed them. it syphoned money and talent away from other games. wow devs got thrown at titan to try to make it work. even after it got killed and turned into overwatch, the looming corpse of titan killed overwatch's pve mode because the devs thought they could make it titan 2 lmao
Blizzard originally started out as a home for a bunch of really talented creatives who made games with a shared vision.
The first great problem was the wild success of world of warcraft.
This necessitated expansion of the company and enticed in people like pardo and kaplan who are pretty much just entitled sociopathic gamers with no creative talent.
This also coincided with the need to corporatize to handle both money and expansion. So now the artist whos drawing nelfs from porn references he keeps at his work station has to go, because that sort of creative process is corpo heterodox.
Despite the fact the guys a genius and said look, we can put gnomes in the game if we just use the dwarf rigging, and does the work for it overnight.
So through the expansion and corporatization, you hollow out the core of the creative team and begin introducing weird non creatives at the company who just get under peoples feet and generally make showing up at the office a fucking shitshow.
This continues to escalate into the modern day where you have a completely replaced ship of Theseus comprised of entitled gamer sociopaths (also woke), taking marching orders from clueless malignant narcissistic fuckheads like kotick.
So really this whole titanic hindenburg fiasco can be laid at the feet of world of warcraft.
Bill Roper was the MVP of Blizzard. Dude made all the games' voicelines and narration, so for me him alongside Chriz Metzen, with his artwork, leaving the studio was the time Blizzard seized to be amazing.
World of Warcraft, that made so much money, and helped incentivize paying monthly for what you already paid for, eternally. No one gave a shit about Everquest; Everquest didn't start that shit, WoW popularized it.
After all that revenue, it caught the attention of Vivendi-Activision, and they scooped it up and turned it into the husk it is now.
It's weird how many WoWapologists/nostalgiafags there are on this board. It was only ever a neat idea from its inception, but even classic bastardized the lore and setting for the sake of immersion. It sure was immersive and immensely ambitious idea that worked out for them short-term, at least.

Good, mybe you can answer me few questions, i am new in this area.
1. In the Earnings Call Q&A, anyone can ask a question? Because I noticed that only analysts are present who ask questions?
2. If I buy a share, what advantages I you have from the company or, to put it another way, are there certain advantages from the company as a share buyer?
3. Is it possible to form a more direct “influencer or business partnership” with such AAA companies, getting involved with and supporting specific projects within the company?
They took Blackrock money. You can read their mission statement on their web page. Everything that is bad that happens in most of the world's corporate scenes can be traced back in some fahsion to them if you follow the money. If you see a company that used to be good but suddenly became shit, check the Blackrock investment reports and how much money that company had received from them. It's like eldritch knowledge, once you see it, you will no longer be able to unsee it whenever you come across it in all the other places of existence.
Sometimes I ponder things like wondering how many hours my friends and I have heard this song throughout our life, and I've come to the conclusion that it must be a tremendously staggering amount. Or any of the SC/Diablo OST.

Pretty much. People are expecting consistent magic over several decades as if this is a rock band and not a high turnover fast food company.
