warhammer 3 is based on an older version of 2. i saw the exact same bugs in the release version of wh3 which wh2 had some years ago. plus the new codes in wh3 made the problem even worse. now the devs have to do the same fricking work they did in the last 5 years again in wh2 + the new bugs in wh3.

actually just wrong. warhammer is literally just "you can only declare war". there is zero diplomacy that matters. it gets stale just declaring war on the same enemies every same fricking campaign.

While I also like good diplomacy mechanics, you cannot say a total war game is better just because of the diplomacy, considering the battles are the main part of the game.
But yeah, good diplomacy in warhammer would be great, but could only work on a map focusing on the empire like in 1, since the immortal empires map has too many faction that would never deal with eachother, so implementing a cool diplomacy system would be worthless in it.

CA is incompetent, left the game for dead just to make a sequel (there's no three kingdoms scenario in a three kingdoms game wtf) and killed all good will they had left. Warhammer 3 and Troy are the logical result of their moronic and greedy ways.

Troy is good though, and has a similar problem to 3k in that it was abandoned quickly but has otherwise very cohesive and fun systems.

Too much SJW shit. And the entire point of the Three Kingdoms setting is to have many unique characters but this game only had a handful. Just wasted the setting.

They tried to copy Total Warhammer by splitting it into 3 separate games. Blame the Warhammer CONSOOOOOOOOMERS.

It was released in a broken state, and abandoned immediately. For me, it's the performance. It runs worse than Atilla. It's a bit weird that the English armies don't speak Arabic too.

I'm playing it right now and the UI is fricking horrible.
Also I think units should not break THAT fast and archers don't really pull their weight (cavalry on the other hand is OP as frick) but overall I'm having fun, decent battles, decent campaign, very good diplomacy.

CA made the mistake of making an actual strategy game where diplomacy and management mattered instead of more weird fantasy units to smash together.

Battles are the easiest thing for modders to fix. None of the other total war games have working diplomacy that lets you play tall on legendary.

Tried to turn it into a DLC farm like Warhammer then abandoned it when players didn't buy them.

It has a decent foundation for the turn based strategy part. The three generals per army mechanic is good and should come back in future games, it would be the perfect opportunity to change the shitty stack upkeep multiplier into a general upkeep multiplier so we can split off segments of the army or have smaller raiding forces without being unreasonably punished economically. Would be cool if the colors of the units could match the generals standard so we can have armies that look like a coalitions of lords and mercenaries instead of an organised state.

Based 3K chads. Frick Warhammer paypiggies. They're still going around trying to defend Darktide atm.

I don't think anybody is defending darktide but they're still playing it anyway, and maybe more to the point still brought it anyway despite being obviously shit before release

The three general per army was the best mechanic they made up thus far and it's what kept me coming back to 3K.
Splitting off your army at will to engage in smaller skirmishes breaks the monotony of constant stack vs stack.

Talking about the 3 generals, how the frick can I give a unit away to one of the other 2 gays?
You can "swap units" but that basically disbands the unit and recruits another for cheaper than usual, which is not what I want.

        Anonymous

You cannot do this due to game balance I imagine.
With the ability to recall generals from one end of the map to another in 2 turns, having the ability to transfer units would be too powerful and also break the whole general "types"

          Anonymous

No, I meant, from 2 generals in the same army.
I want to give all cav to 1 general

            Anonymous

That's what I meant, this is a decision choice, general's have a "type" specialization which controls their unit pool in accordance. Being able to "gift" units would defeat the purpose. But like

It's moronic that they do this but allow any class of general to inherit units from a dead general. The retinue system would've been far better however if you cannot buy elite units, you have to promote them from militia or regular (like mountain blade).

stated, that's the only way to "transfer" units unfortunately.
This follows real world as certain generals would specialize in different roles in the grand army. Asking a cav general to command a troop of foot archer would not be sensible.

              >This follows real world as certain generals would specialize in different roles in the grand army.
Modders did it far better. Instead of buffing specific unit types mods buff charge damage or melee evasion for ALL units and added stuff like fire assault infantry and more heavy shield infantry for commanders. Making some units multi-color also adds more flexibility and diversity.

TROM comes to mind although there are others. Unfortunately the more recent version of TROM is the least fun because the dev removed movement from nearly all formations.

Nothing. It's pretty good for a nu-Total War. Best diplomacy and actual strategy of the entire series. Suffers from the same "spearmanii" problem as every other historical Total War, but it never bothered me like it does others. A solid 7.5/10, maybe an 8 even if I'm being generous.
