It had fewer features than a game with a decades worth of dlc, right you more than likely never played ck2 on release, at least ck3 shipped with a playable religion system and didn't need a dlc to add in muslims. Pound for pound CK3 launched with more content than vanilla ck2 did this is unarguable. Ck3's dlc after a year is lacking though in retrospect.

>They legitimately tried appealing to too many people and ended up appealing to no one with a painfully mediocre game
No. They tried to appear to wider audience and focus on roleplay and memes. They killed any grand, and almost all strategy. Warfare is pile of garbage compared to predecessor, it's not worst only because stillborn abomination of Vic3 exist.
And even so, roleplay is barebones, full of memetic brainrot as for wider-reddit-audience. CK3 is shit.
It's neither a satisfying grand strategy map painter and spreadsheet simulator nor an engaging and emergent medieval dynasty storyteller. They legitimately tried appealing to too many people and ended up appealing to no one with a painfully mediocre game. It has none of the charms that its predecessor bore and ended up a lackluster and repetitive experience. The way they've comically mishandled communications, DLC pricing and content deadlines is just the cherry on top.
Everything. It offers no improvement over CK2 except the 3D portraits and it's a heavy downgrade on pretty much every other aspect.
It's also way too focused on the RPG mechanics rather than the strategy aspect and is way too fucking easy. Not that CK2 was all that hard, but at least it wasn't normie accessible. CK3 can be played by a toddler.
Crusader Kings is the roleplay focused paradox it's supposed to be about intrigue and family/court politics if you want grand strategy go play imperator.
Nah, moron, that's not true. CK was a a strategy simulator with roleplay mechanics sprinkled on, not the other way around. If you just remove the strategy aspect and make it irrelevant, then I might as well just go play the Sims or something. Besides, it's not like the RPG mechanics are well developed anyway. In fact, even in that aspect it's severely lacking against CK2. There are barely any events or things to do in CK3. The only thing CK3 has so far is the Royal Court shit that has like 5 events on recycle.
>still no epidemics
forgot about that
inb4 zoomers claiming that ck2's reapers due also took years to release, unaware that ck2 had epidemics since the release version and the dlc just expanded upon them
All the white guys left Paradox.
The Sims syndrome.
Graphics updated slightly in order to justify reselling the DLCs.
It's ok except one thing. Every single run starts with
>search character
>filter by genius trait
>marry
>full blood legacy
>he doesn't do dysgenic runs
It's fun to try to play while collecting all the worst traits
Good challenge too
a sequel that did not really improve on the previous game at all
>Too many cringe events like “u shidd urself smelly court xd”

I don't like realtime strat, much less grand strat. That's the problem. Paradox go make a better Civ than Firaxis.
>inb4 Stellaris shit
I mean we're still waiting on HRE and Papal State gameplay
The fact that is coded by apes? It started crashing everytime
It had fewer features than CK2 on release. I also still prefer CK2 with HIP to 3.
I'm curious how they'll fuck up EU5.

I liked CK2 at release more than I liked CK3. Also who in his right mind plays as a muslim? lol
Me. Iberian peninsula muslim can be OP and easy as fuck because of the clan government type combined with diplomacy
Anything in CK3 is OP and easy as fuck because the AI is retarded.
that is true, but still ck3 has to compete with ck2 as it is now and not one from a decade ago
It'll surpass ck2 once it has an equal number of dlc, check back in a few years.
It does not improve on Ck2. It has no reason to exist.
They took all the wacky meme stories people made about CK2 and made that the entire game
for me it was that you have to trigger all the events yourself instead of having them happen to you
Same old shit, pretty much indentical to CK2 aside from some interesting mods, in a way its a very similiar situation to Warband vs Bannerlord
Oh and its somehow even easier than CK2 even with mods that try to make the game more difficult
Nothing went wrong. It's a solid game but lacks content because Paradox has yet to release the dozens of DLC that will eventually come for it.
Rest of the thread disagrees.
The 86% positive reviews on Steam disagree with the rest of the thread.
You mean the stupid masses?
As opposed to the people that frequent Ganker?
Yes, people here are generally more cultured than your average dudebro normalfag.

Censored and woke. Game has chuds in it and you cant even expell the garden gnomeery anymore.
All of it is fixable except the perk tree. A fundamentally retarded concept. Works great for the vampire mod though.
CK fans are the dumbest Paradox game players, which is impressive because HOI4 is also a Paradox game

>still no epidemics in a fucking MEDIEVAL GAME
It's only been 3 years, guys. any day, now
>still no epidemics
forgot about that
inb4 zoomers claiming that ck2's reapers due also took years to release, unaware that ck2 had epidemics since the release version and the dlc just expanded upon them
CK3's are just wholly inadequate. it's actually less thorough than 2, which is impressive
garbage "content" dlcs instead of proper mechanics
ffs mongols are still barebones
>what went wrong?
The part where peoppe bought a paradox game released after crusader kings 2
