Reach end of a part of the story, instead of a natural progression into the next part of the game, you talk to an npc that spawns a giant memo on your screen telling "You must now get item level XXX to proceed, please farm this content for endless amounts of upgrade materials to slot machine your way into the next part of the story".
Its so fricking lazy. Why can't you do content that gives you new gear that is already at the item level for the next part of the game? Why do you always have to upgrade through a slot machine to meet arbitrary number requirements?
No, i don't remember all the location names but I gave up in the middle of the gatekeep for 800-ish item level. A gear grind to progress to the game where the gear is boring and just ragnarok online upgrades is horrific

For me personally? I quit when it was clear they wanted you to cycle through dailies on like 3+ characters to be able to progress at a reasonable pace. That just sounded like such an annoying way to grind.
I just want to do a bunch of shit on one character but when you lock me out of activities, then I have no desire to continue playing.
a friend of mine still plays and hes got like 12 characters. he spends 8+ hours a day doing dailies and dungeons and shit. all the rest of my friends and i quit after the first few weeks when it became obvious the end game was locked away behind the slot machine upgrade mechanics and the multiple char daily grinds.
