It's not the whips crowd control that matters, it's the secret bonus it gives to visceral attacks when in cane form and the fact you can keep your gun out at all times. It lets you become an unstoppable parry God.
Its also very fun dipping in and out between the range and the cane form. Haven't played this game in years but I think there was a backstep into straight forward quick whip move I loved doing
in all of the other games yes, not in Bloodborne because it's a mash R1 fest so DPS is pretty important. The whole pace change and mechanics like side-stepping are made for faster DPS battles.
>nothing will beat the Saw Cleaver in terms of DPS
arguably the saw spear. But yeah, either way it's hilarious that they either let you start with the strongest weapon, or you pick it up in the first level.
>let's allow the player to immediately break the game
It's amazing how Bloodborne goes from one of the harder Soulsbornes to by far the easiest once you understand how it works.
I suck at souls games to the point of never beating any of them, (Got to the final boss in DS1 but couldn't beat it.) but I've beaten Bloodborne and so for that reason it has to be the easiest IMO.
It is, enemy attacks are very easy to avoid (just hug their ass), the gun parry window is forgiving as fuck, and you can mash your way to victory with rally heals.
Fuck I'd love a Bloodborne remaster (not by Bluepoint please) that also does some tweaks and rebalances to the make the game - particularly the early game - more enjoyable. Give us some Bloodtinge and Arcane weapons early, like make the Rifle Spear work like it used to where each bullet scaled with Bloodtinge at the cost using more bullets maybe? And maybe the Tonitrus having pure Arc scaling in it's buffed form or something, along with an early Fire Gem hidden somewhere. Open up the unused door behind Cleric Beast to provide early access to Cathedral Ward and boom, the game suddenly has a bunch more weapon options right from the start.
Every weapon in this game is so fun that they don't even all need to be good, like it doesn't matter that the Saw Cleaver is unquestionably the best weapon in the game because who the fuck doesn't want to use the Whirligig or the Kirkhammer or the Church Pick etc anyway? Just let us actually GET weapons for different specialties early on rather than forcing us to use our starter weapon until after Amelia where the DLC finally opens up and we can access all the good shit.
I didnt think you could find weapons in Chalice Dungeons that you hadn't found the base form of in the main game? I know you can't get the Beast Claw through this method for example.
This is honestly my biggest issue with Bloodborne. Like 2/3 of weapons, including majority of the more interesting and unique ones can only be obtained so late that you can barely use them without going ng+
It's simply because it has the inbuilt beast blood pellet effect which is too OP to put in the main game but perfectly fine as a somewhat secret item. It does suck that it's essentially a ng+ only weapon though.
Burial Blade and Blade of Mercy being so late in the game is a real killer.
Even if you beat Eileen early, the BoM scaling doesn't make it particularly worthwhile until much later, anyway.
BoM is worth it for how fun it is and I say this as a STRfag. Those dodge attacks are so fucking nice in a game where you are always dodging, and trying to squeeze as many R1s into an opening as you can to take advantage of the stacking speed increase is a real test of your nerve.
The bigxxxgest problem with Bloodborne is build variety/replayability so that xxsounda like a good idea. Also chalice dungeons would be much kore fun with slightly more variation to level layouts. And possibly some optional, difficult shortcuts for more of a DS1 approach to the game world where the player has more options
>Requires hours long, tedious grinding through dozens of crappy, randomly generated dungeons to get >Not a single other weapon in game requires even remotely similar amount of extra work to get >Isn't even particularly strong or lore significant
What were they thinking? Don't get me wrong, with beast rune this thing is fun as fuck, but this special treatment compared to other weapons is somewhat baffling
>The scraping effect when you drag them over the ground >The REEEE special >The leaping claw dive that you can aim in any direction >Natural beast gauge for big dick damage
Love this thing but yeah it's a bit out of the way.
the octopus transformation is just as long and even more challenging since arcane sucks until it gets good. I have a save file with a full werewolf beastman and had one as an octopus but I have no idea what happened and my arcane build file is gone.
It's simply because it has the inbuilt beast blood pellet effect which is too OP to put in the main game but perfectly fine as a somewhat secret item. It does suck that it's essentially a ng+ only weapon though.
ludwigs is better and baseder but only if you use it two-handed, switching to one handed gives you 1 (one) super aids for every r1 you throw from the sheer amount of cum youll be taking up the ass from it becoming a gay gravity (gayvity) well
>tfw specced into 99 Arcane just to use this for the broccoli man meme >cannot beat Orphan with only Hunter Tools >cannot beat him with an Elemental/ Arcane gem'd weapon because he resists them >only have base health and Endurance with runes
Suffering.
>tfw specced into 99 Arcane just to use this for the broccoli man meme >cannot beat Orphan with only Hunter Tools >cannot beat him with an Elemental/ Arcane gem'd weapon because he resists them >only have base health and Endurance with runes
Suffering.
I know it's retarded but I struggle with phase 1 of Orphan more than 2 lmao. Phase 2 I can just stop thinking and react, but phase 1 is so slow and deliberate I have too much time to psych myself out.
It's been a good while since I've played Bloodborne, but I'm pretty sure he's vulnerable to a backstab when he's doing his attack where he swings the placenta around him in a circle. He's still the biggest cockmongrel in the game despite that.
this one ruined me trying to make a "monk" by using this with no milk rune. I barely got the gatling gun with upgrades weapons, and you want me to get to basically the end of a dlc for my "base" weapon, or I get to use literal bare fist, so parry only because oh my god the trash damage. and don't have stats for anything else because arcane.
I never finished the build.
plus steak driver and gatling into beast transform is WAAY more fun.
I got stuck on ROM in one of these, its like fighting a hacker. not to mention this is floor 4 of a triple cursed dungeon so even getting there.
by comparison normal ng+2 ROM wasn't that bad, except I still broke the tesla hammer on it just before it died (from full repair)
>19th century-inspired setting with heavy influences from mid-18th century events and fiction >Not a single fucking sabre or broadsword in the game
The Rakuyo is a shitty katana on a weird shell/cup hilt and Simon's bitch blade is a mess that doesn't really look like anything.
>let’s design a kino weapon
simple as
>we need a weapon for people who built their character around an endgame drop
The real question is what the fuck were they thinking here
Peasant
>Early sword like option.
>Reference to source material.
>Cool whip.
A whip/cane is the best option they got for a dex weapon while staying in theme with the victorian style.
The starting cane is ridiculously good if you know how to use it, this is a skill issue on your behalf
>muh crowd control
Axe charged r2 shits all over it
I'm not saying axe isn't better just that canewhip is also powerful, and more importantly fun
the whip mode does serrated so it fucks any early game monster, the axe doesn't even come close
Nah, chain whip + fire paper = easily tamed beasts. Fun as fuck, too.
it’s for kino castlevania builds
Bloodborne clicked for me when I started using that in cane mode. It's fast, safe and the lunge attack does a nice chunk of damage for how easy it is.
With the whip you need to factor sweetspots too. A certain range does more damage
>The real question is what the fuck were they thinking here
They simply made a great weapon
it’s just a giant old timey razor blade for shaving
>we need some kind of early game crutch for the midwits and journos to feel powerful
I thought that was supposed to be the axe.
The axe is for STR builds and STR builds are exclusively used by thick-dicked geniuses so it can't be for midwits or journos
Axe is dogshit since you can't spam r1 for free heals
But the axe has the best self healing in the game.
Don't need to heal if you don't get hit.
Axe R2 moveset is second only to the transformed cane in range, and swings much faster.
nothing will beat the Saw Cleaver in terms of DPS, also buffable.
The only starting weapon in all of souls more OP is twinblades in DS3 with Thief class
Theoretical DPS is far from the most important attribute for a weapon in these games.
in all of the other games yes, not in Bloodborne because it's a mash R1 fest so DPS is pretty important. The whole pace change and mechanics like side-stepping are made for faster DPS battles.
>nothing will beat the Saw Cleaver in terms of DPS
arguably the saw spear. But yeah, either way it's hilarious that they either let you start with the strongest weapon, or you pick it up in the first level.
different anon
I always take the spear because I try to speedrun the start and not die.
>let's allow the player to immediately break the game
It's amazing how Bloodborne goes from one of the harder Soulsbornes to by far the easiest once you understand how it works.

>Easy mode: the weapon
Loved that mfer, although my favorite weapon is probably the Beast Cutter or that electric mace who's name escapes me.
Tonitrus
>mergo's wet nurse
>hold L2
>walk behind him while his health melts
i don't like it because there's nothing fun about its regular form
>R1L1R1L1R1L1R1L1R1L1
Boring
wait it‘s been a while since i played bb i think it‘s R1L1L1
for me, it's the beast cutter
>Staggers/pancakes filthy beasts of any size from 30 feet away
Nothing personnel you unsightly freaks.
ROAR ZABIMARU
>Extend weapon
>Hold R2
>Drop humanoids on there asses
>Stragger monsters
Nothing personal kid

I would personally prefer if chalice dungeons were removed until the game is beaten
Just don't do them? What effect does this have other than removing content
You can get pretty much every weapon early from custom chalice dungeons. It's not ideal but its how I did my early chikage run.
Shit, meant for
Burial Blade and Blade of Mercy being so late in the game is a real killer.

There's an early fire gem in Yharnam, past the Beast Possessed Soul below the Old Workshop.
The bigxxxgest problem with Bloodborne is build variety/replayability so that xxsounda like a good idea. Also chalice dungeons would be much kore fun with slightly more variation to level layouts. And possibly some optional, difficult shortcuts for more of a DS1 approach to the game world where the player has more options
git gud with skips and learn how to speedrun chalice
A Saw and a Cleaver.
Blood themes everywhere so a saw would make sense since it would shred the enemies, causing alot of bleeding.
Fuse it with a cleaver since they are primarily used for cutting up meat and bones, making you a hunter and a butcher of beasts.
I know it's supposedly really good, but it always felt boring and really unsatisfying to use for me
name a bad weapon in bloodborne
i'll wait
Fist of Gratia.
Yeah I'm really not sure what they were thinking with this one. If it could parry by punching stuff it would be fucking goated.
*casts fist*

wow, that cleaver looks injured, thank god they bandaged it up.
>stuck behind the hardest boss in the game.
>It's only use is to pair with Milkweed and bee funny Cauliflower man with a funny dash animation
>tfw specced into 99 Arcane just to use this for the broccoli man meme

Suffering.
still convinced Orphan cancels his attack animations just to fuck you into the mud
I know it's retarded but I struggle with phase 1 of Orphan more than 2 lmao. Phase 2 I can just stop thinking and react, but phase 1 is so slow and deliberate I have too much time to psych myself out.
I'm sure there's something like that, yeah. An early form of Elden Ring's adaptive combos, or something.
It's been a good while since I've played Bloodborne, but I'm pretty sure he's vulnerable to a backstab when he's doing his attack where he swings the placenta around him in a circle. He's still the biggest cockmongrel in the game despite that.
>Going past 50 Arcane without investing in vit or end
Do you have brain problems?
you really just asked that about a meme build anon? do YOU have brain problems?
>Make a meme build
>Oh no it doesn't work
Why did you even waste everyone's time then?
investing on vit its for casuals
>investing in vit
not until 99 Arcane you scrub.
this one ruined me trying to make a "monk" by using this with no milk rune. plus steak driver and gatling into beast transform is WAAY more fun.
for me, it's starting as noble scion and staying with 7 vit then getting chikage and a health regen gem for infinite chikage
for me, it's save-edited chalice dungeons
triple-cursed dungeons are wild
hp in the double digits, even a pebble can one-tap you
I got stuck on ROM in one of these, its like fighting a hacker. not to mention this is floor 4 of a triple cursed dungeon so even getting there.
by comparison normal ng+2 ROM wasn't that bad, except I still broke the tesla hammer on it just before it died (from full repair)
transforming weapons are cool as fuck? that spring loaded serrated saw blades are ideal for dealing with werewolves?
Lets make all the weapons good
>19th century-inspired setting with heavy influences from mid-18th century events and fiction
>Not a single fucking sabre or broadsword in the game
The Rakuyo is a shitty katana on a weird shell/cup hilt and Simon's bitch blade is a mess that doesn't really look like anything.
For me, it's a giant boulder that attaches to this stone sword making it a hammer. Simple yet so effective.
For me its THE WHEEL. And for all anon complaining that their weapon is too late into the game, you can grab most of them after BSB.
I’m gonna go with the halloween replay because of this thread. I came off my first BB not liking it but I’ll give it another chance
