Huuuge potential. Surprised nobody thought to combine battle royale/hunt showdown/tarkov shit before. Fantasy setting is icing on the cake. Really hoping they don't casualize these elements in the future to appease the masses.
For me its ranger and wizard.
Its shit. Troon goyslop zoomer trash.
Desperately hoping they don't add more queue options. I can already tell it's going to be a niche game without a gigantic playerbase, so the last thing they need to be doing is splitting the playerbase. They also need to keep the wipes, having your shit wiped keeps things fresh, otherwise there will be too many people with insanely good shit for too long.
It just feels like an awful battle royale. I appreciate what it's trying to do, I really do, but this is not how you do it. The class system really limits your ability to use the things you find, meaning you can find 20 chests and kill three players and still be a default dude. Health is such a scarce resource that even winning a 1v3 isn't a good feeling because you just got hurt really fricking hard and they almost certainly don't have anything that can help you. There's zero reason for killing other players, aside from protecting yourself, because the cost of victory heavily outweighs the reward and it'd be better spent trying to get out.
>stop playing solo
Stop me from joining games solo then, why is it an option?
>Stop me from joining games solo then, why is it an option?
Nothing is wrong with playing solo. Rogue is just for homosexuals is all. If anything solo players who aren't rogue are based.
I've been trying solo Barbarian, but maybe that was exactly my problem. I am kind of amazed they went with "most classes can't block," "every class moves the same slow speed," and "there's ranged classes" in the same game without realizing the inherent problems that arise.
>"most classes can't block," "every class moves the same slow speed," and "there's ranged classes"
This is utterly based game design.
Okay
What's the strat for a solo, then? Waiting for AI to pick a fight and jumping them?
>What's the strat for a solo
Accepting that you are willingly choosing to play at a disadvantage and either play a class that excels solo or take the hit to your fricking pride.
In the other games this game is inspired by, namely Hunt Showdown and Mordhau, you can easily perform 1v3s. I prefer solo in those games because teammates introduce problems I can't solve by murdering shit. I have to care about a teammate and I can't just play how I want. Being solo lets me not give a frick. But in those games time to kill is quick, whereas in this game it's slow, neutering the element of surprise unless you lay a proper ambush with traps. Pride has nothing to do with it, it's how every other game like it works.
You need to grind a character with perks? Or is that tree just applied to every character of the class you have?
All perks are available at level 1 you just need to swap it out, levels only give you more perk slots.
Oh, I thought perks and shit was for characters that survived a run. I had never done that because I never did.
>complaining about game design and core mechanics
>never even clicked all the buttons on the menu
moron.
>Waiting for AI to pick a fight and jumping them?
Yes? If you are solo you should play like a backstabbing rat not a terminator demigod.
Pick Ranger, sneak around until the last couple circles, and then put bear traps in all of the doors. People will be so focused on trying to escape that they'll rush through the map running into all your traps.
Rogue is the only class where you will consistently be able to fare well solo. Barb would naturally be difficult.
Go get a felling axe, drop your starter helmet and pants you need all the movespeed you can get, equip the smash perk to smash down doors/chests, rush down enemies.
The felling axe's consecutive strikes are faster than most swords if you hit your target, the swing animation is already aimed for headshots.
Engage in dungeon rooms & corridors, only engage in the mid circle/open spaces as last resort. The smash perk will let you rotate very fast since you don't have to open doors.
Play like a true barbarian.
It's neat, I hope they clean up the jank and polish the game up instead of doing a few bug fixes and just releasing it a year later. I like playing fighter and fighting people.
what game?
dark & darker
Dark and Darker, an dungeon crawling melee extraction slasher.
To all who cry solo is not viable just fricking suck, solo is the way to go.
if fighters can use bows what is the point of ranger
>if civilians can use guns what is the point of soldiers
Bear traps, more versatile heal, more awareness, more damage with bows, able to use more bows than just recurve bows without needing a perk
>bear traps
Have yet to successfully use them.
>more versatile heal
I have 30 bandages and a cleric on my team.
>more damage with bows
True.
>able to use more bows without needing a perk
True.
I will say that I have found ranger with the spear perk to be incredibly versatile. The spear is a really good melee weapon.
>play something besides ranger for once
>am getting deleted by groups of rangers/fighters with longbows
Bros.....
>wizard is bad
I almost exclusively play squishy wizards in games if given the option, can wizard be viable and is the magic fun?
Wizard is not bad, just very very hard to play. It's very fun and viable if you're really skilled at it and know how to strategize.
>Planned Release Date: Q4 2023
god shut the frick up you homosexualS not another goddamn 'playtest' fad of the month
have a nice day now
