No. Never. Buy a RAZER, or Asus if too poor.

isn't Razer more of a meme than alienware? alienware is just dell...dell makes computers for business that for years. the build quality in alienware is usually quite good

Not really. Some DELLs are great, especially their business class. Also some of their entry-level gaming machines are basically the business class repurposed, which are also good machines if you adjust your expectations. Everything else is trash, soldered RAM, etc.
RAZERs are expensive, but you get upgradable RAM, the OEM provided sticks are also low density sticks, high-end SSD, MUX switch, at least on their NVIDIA *70 tier machines and a frw other things which I don't remember right now.

oh i should also mention...i want a laptop where i can swap out parts too. so if i can easily open up the back and throw in a SSD etc that'd be great. i hate soldered on crap. don't care how big and clunky it is

sorry that im the one to tell you this, but gaming laptops are awful. since they require a cable, they arent really portable anyways, also their bad battery life make them horrible laptops too. They also run VERY hot and VERY loud, because of the form factor.
Just get a PC, will be MUCH better performance and upgradeability, while costing less.
If you want a PC thats actually portable, i suggest a steam deck.
The only situation where a gaming laptop makes sense would be if you are actively travelling and playing in hotel rooms and whatnot - otherwise these are always a bad deal. Sorry

i don't play the latest AAA games, i play stuff like classic wow, runescape, osu, ff14, tekken 7, dark souls etc. all stuff that can easily be managed with a mid range desktop gpu, so it won't run hot. i just want a high end laptop so that if i feel like playing a AAA title, i could, if i wanted too

the info you're giving me seems like dated old Ganker stuff..it's 2023 now man

i want something that's portable, as in i can move to a different room and setup easily. not portable as in i want to play it on the train or on a bus ride. steam decks are trash

Well then have fun lugging around two power bricks and 3kg of copper heat sinks everywhere you go

actually that's what i want, i just don't want to lug around a tower desktop pc, all its cables, a monitor, mouse, keyboard etc

the kind of portability im seeking, is the kind where i stay at a hotel for 2-3 days, move, maybe stay somewhere for a week or 2 weeks. go to a friends house, setup there in their spare room. maybe my rent in a place suddenly ends, its no big deal for me to move out the next day...everything can fit in the back of my car, don't have to worry about transport damage etc

so obviously i want to setup and be comfy like a desktop setup would be, but also easily be able to move. i can plug my laptop into a monitor while im at home and use it like a tower, unplug it and hit the road, stay at a friends house, travel. you get the idea

also i need it to be easy to open up the back and swap out parts. no soldered RAM or it being impossible to take the back

im not one of the guys that replied to you but i have to agree with them. since you obviously dont own one yet, you like the idea of a gaming laptop. Once you actually got one you will quickly realize that its neither a good gaming pc nor a good laptop. Im really trying to help you here, dont do it. Borrow a gaming laptop from a friend if you like, and use that for 1 month. Then you will see what we all mean.
All that being said, its your decision. If you still want to go ahead with buying one - i can recommend XMG if you are in Europe. They have very easy swappable RAM, SSD, among other stuff, while looking minimalistic and having good cooling + performance. Also come at a relatively good price, stuff like Alienware and Razer is massively overpriced.

Schenker XMG Neo if you can get them in the states.

interesting, i was always under the impression Razer was crap, guess their laptops are the exception

I honestly think a lanbox, monitor, wireless mouse and keyboard plus two power cables is better here

Why would you want to travel with a heug ass gaymer laptop when you could just bring a thin and light for work, and a psp/ds/switch for gayman? It seems much better, while there's no question that PC gayman is the best way to do it, travelling with the latest Razer megablocktonne9000 just seems like a fricking drag

yeah thats a great laptop, but a trash gaming device. Exactly what im saying you utter moron. Good laptops like Thinkpad, Macbook and XPS are good because they are made to be used as a laptop, while still having great performance without being plugged into a huge powerbrick. Those arent gaming devices though
