>how is that social? I used to play it on PS4 and i never saw another person
check /vg/ or sometimes people here post threads and make lobbies
shit, try the reddit if you want to meet normies
mhg is one of the least social game thread on vg
the only people playing together are playing fucking mh2 on emulator and it's like 3 people
no one plays the latest mh or mhw there together
I usually see a World thread every day. But to be fair, World/Rise are divisive so the community is split. Same reason you see people playing Dos instead.
I dunno man, I used to make heaps of friends back when I was into MMOs 10+ years ago, my steam is still filled with them, but I can't seem to meet anyone now
a decade ago I would have been having a ton of fun playing Garry's Mod, talking and joking with strangers, no qualms about using voice chat. now i can barely speak or make eye contact with my irl neighbours. i don't know what happened, i'm so quiet and soft spoken that people assume i'm a fag and ask if i have a boyfriend
How did this even happen?
People have to see the text I type in the chat, but no one ever chooses to respond, or type anything themselves (unless they're raging). It's so depressing, and makes me wonder why these people aren't just playing singleplayer.
>play any game >this happens
how the fuck do you make friends?
>meet a bunch of people, make friends on allied side and even enemy team in LoL >fast forward to today >dead silent >all robots >type a slur in chinese that i learned >get 4 or 5 responses back guaranteed
its all chinese college kids now
There’s always a thread up discussing the spiritual death of MMOs and the points have been made a thousand times before.
I think the attitude shift is just because the games now have a heavy focus on singleplayer; grouping up is a chore that you have to do to get some select things done. Combine this with the gradual filtering-out of normalfags and normalnerds, and you get nothing but silent autists who are only in a group to get their weekly chores done.
I think its because ultimately most games are filled with kids and the current target audience are little soulless homosexuals who grew up online and dont act like they would in real life online anymore, they dont see online people as actual people
Even dumb shit like pokemon battle sims used to be places where you could make friends, now you cant even get a gg or reply to you calling them a lucky homosexual, just battle then leave as if theyre playing NPCs
The politics shit can't be discounted. If you're forced to sign a "behavior contract" it's not going to suddenly make everyone nice all the time, they'll just say nothing like they're living in a communist country, on the chance that someone they're interacting with rats them out.
Original Rust. I remember there was a city I was part of, and there was a sense of community in sharing and protecting from invaders. Nothing to do with modern trash Rust.

because every social interaction is vetted in their discords now. god fucking forbid they interact with someone new in their games.
It's funny because the insular "nopubs" dudes in guild were a tiny cranky minority that everyone teased back in the day.
Go back to before 2014
I swear, after this point it became almost impossible to make friends online.

Yup.
Old policies of "just /ignore them" outside of outright spam made everyone act more natural.
I figured most people are too busy talking in their private discords to give a shit about whats happening in the pub chat.
>How did this even happen?
You can thank FF14 GMs for that. Everything you ever said WILL be used against you.
those people are all literally me and I wish you homosexuals would stop trying to talk to me when I'm trying to relax and play some casual CS.
