    Budokai 3 for a traditional 2D fighter
or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 if you want fun, unbalanced brawling.

Definitely not these, you also kinda have to go by different genre

      >Budokai 3 for 2D fighter
      >Tenkaichi 3 for arena fighter
      >Super Dragon Ball Z for whatever frick that is, no idea what that is but I love that shit
      >FighterZ for Mvc styled tag fighter
      >Xenoverse 2 for self insert CaC game

Honorable mention to Raging Blast and Extreme Butoden. If I had to pick one it would probably be BT3 with the Japanese music patch though. Maybe FighterZ depending on how I'm feeling.

I'm 26 so I don't think I fall into either of those categories.

Burst Limit is my personal favorite, it does the 2d formula to it's absolute peak, the drama pieces were super great and offered some variety without falling back into the generic accessories setup that the original budokai games had. At least, in fighters.
If we're talking overall, Gekishin Freeza, the second card game rpg on NES, is my favorite. totsugeki-hen is the rock paper scissors RPG (or, the second half of it I should say) on SNES, is a very close second, cause it looks beautiful.

with you on burstlimit, just wish they had buu

Yeah, burst limit was a sadly tumultuous game. I obviously don't work at bamco so I can't say what went on exactly but based on model wireframe and other data, it was supposed to be MUCH more expansive. There's wireframes and even cutscenes for a great ape vegeta fight, there's stats/data for super saiyan 2 goku, and a lot more.
Really just disappointing how it turned out, but it's still absolutely my favorite db fighter. I just could never get into the 3d arena stuff that tenkaichi/xenoverse offered. Wasn't for me.

        >generic accessories setup that the original budokai games had
I fricking hated this shit, like what if I just wanted to play a normal 2-player bout with my friend without all this RPG bullshit?

I mean there were default setups to use in those cases, but I just meant I preferred the drama pieces AS customization options as they usually had pretty niche/specific setups requiring specific character matchups, or having to purposefully get yourself to lower hp, or stay in lower transformation states, stuff like that. Versus the capsules which were usually stat+x or hp regen+y or some other rather generic buff.
I get what you mean though, absolutely.
If you haven't played it in a while, I'd recommend trying out budokai 2 again. It's not as feature filled as 3, but it has a lot more pick-up-and-play capability.

Fusions is my favorite tbh. That game really needs a sequel with ramped-up difficulty and more characters.

i heard this game is pretty much budokai 4, how is 3 better than this considering everyone sucks 3's wiener off?

the fighting in infinite world is actually worse. i don't remember the specifics since it's been so long since i played either. iw has more characters, transformations, better story mode and whatever else i forgot

for single player, iw is definitely better

also, not many people played iw iirc because it came out late into the ps2's life and people had already moved on to other systems. or people were tired of dbz back then? man i don't remember. but most people aren't even aware that game exists while everyone knows budokai 3

Infinite World has broken unfair AI and a lot of minigames. The single player becomes very unfun because of this.

They also removed some of the mechanics like hyper mode that 3 had and didn't really replace them with anything except aura burn which is temporary invincibility to some attacks. If you're wondering why other fighting games don't have temporary invincibility it's because it fricking sucks. The gameplay overall is just not as good if I'm being honest.

IW also removed some characters, and the ones they replaced them with were not as cool. Removing Kid Goku, Supreme Kai, Uub in favor of Saiyaman Videl and base GT Goku & Vegeta + pan was not worth it. There are some others too, but it's basically Frieza Saga and Android Saga characters in B3 while IW loads up on GT characters.

      >No Hyper Mode, Beam Struggles and Dragon Rushes
      >No tournament mode
      >Story mode is full of mini games and when you do get into a fight they watered down mechanics from the previous one
      >Important characters removed in favor of GT ones

Budoaki 3 is a more complete package

Tenkaichi 3 is objectively the best DBZ simulator.
