the concept of advertising space is a mistake

mobile gameing has been around for awhile. the latest innovations we have are pokemon go and arg stuff.
the best you can get is things that only have cosmetic features.

Depends how high your threshold for good games is placed. For instance, if you're a graphicsgay, forget it. Few devs are willing to bust their asses only to collect no money for their trouble. Obviously.
Anyway, my favorite is Simon Tatham's Puzzles, it's impossible to get bored of it if you ask me. Other games worth a look are: HyperRogue, Bunibon, Warfare Inc., Mindustry, Ice Cream Disaster, Tobrix Drachenlauf, Lexica, Space Trader, Unciv, Battleheart, Chess Attack Mobile, Trapball and a whole bunch of games made by Yiotro.
Not all games with ads and IAPs are made equal though. For example, this one game I like has ads that are optional and micropurchases that are both optional and provide hours of extra content on top of the main story which is free. Another game I like has paid revives, which again are optional if you just git gud and the game even tells you not to get them unless you specifically feel like tipping the dev.

From the top of my head: Buriedbornes, Magic survival, Infinitode 2. Disclaimer: they have banner ads, and magic survival has 5 second ads between runs, but it's not bad, and the games are actually good.

not just a decent game, a good game.
it's a mini game basically, you just have to drop presents into all the chimenys and there's a highscore screen that shows the top 10 high scores. it is my goal in life to make it onto that top 10 scoreboard.

Nah, frick you guys, you play it anyway. I put in banner ads and they just keep playing. I put in interstitials and they just keep playing. I paywall 3/4 of the game, put your rewards on a timer and make you watch an ad to skip, and you people are so pathetic you'll just keep playing it. You want an actually fun game? Download an emulator and play old snes games for frick same.
vampire survivors is free. it has ads but NOT obligatory to see them, you can decide to not watch it. also not pay to win.
I was about to recommend that game, all the unlockables come from your own efforts, also, it can be played in offline mode, very addictive and rewarding

You aren't getting that in 2022, just download some broken cracked apk and cry that it doesn't work.
Go look for some cracked apks of games released some time before 2013 (the earlier the better), disable cellular data, turn off wifi temporarily, and there's your experience.
