I recommend using the Arx Libertatis mod to improve spell launching. I wonder if I will ever play as a powerful mage: I've seen longplays of mages killing full plate enemies with only spells. Problem is that I enjoy using plate and shields too much to contemplate an alternative.

Dishonored 2 crack in a slab and clockwork mansion was fucking god tier.
PREY loading screen inbetween areas on talos was fucking annoying, as to was late game the game basically becomes fully linear. In fact most of the game is linear because areas are all locked out for you and you open them in succession, and when it does get to the point you have all the airlocks open there is not long before the game stops you from entering areas as well as there was no need to go to areas more than once.

On what fucking planet? it's a whole space station that's modelled both inside and out with AAA graphics, with fucktons of writing and voice acting for all the different scenarios you can take

The main plot is so bad and so concerned with carefully shepherding you through all of the station so you don't miss any content that just breaking it into gamey levels more like SS2 wouldn't have changed anything from it being designed as a legit 3D station.
And the "backstage" areas that are meant to seem like a realistic space station behind the facade are realistically dull and repetitive like an indie would do it (same effect as Alien:Isolation) Kind of unavoidable if you want to simulate a space station but if I'm bored I'm bored.

            Anonymous

The main plot is fine and there are several parts of it where it kinda gets off your back and lets you explore. There's a ton of side quests so at one point I just started doing them and planning my way through the station to hit them with maximum efficiency, and it was fun.
            >And the "backstage" areas that are meant to seem like a realistic space station behind the facade are realistically dull and repetitive
Only GUTS was boring to me, and only because I spent minutes autistically flying around each tube looking for crafting ingredients.

The outside is very fun, full of different little details to find, and even large details, like the big shuttle I didn't even realize at first isn't just a prop but an actual location. You can fly really fast in space, and it makes it nice. It also gives it a sense of scale and helps with immershun.

I bought deathloop on PS5 when I got one this year, I bought it because it was litterally the only concole exclusive ir had that I wanted to play, unfortunately it is "free" with teh sub model now too.
      Anywy the game is boring.
You can only have 2 powers slotted at any time, fucking retarded and you are an idiot if one of those is not blink, so you only ever have a choice of 1 power.
AI is super fucking retarded and non existant though it does kind of suit the game where they are just sycophants who dont care if they die as they will loop gain.
I suppose the weapons are OOK, but usual limited slots.
Story is shit, leads nowhere and finding how to end the loop is basically guided by following a guide.
There are only 4 levels, and while each level can be played at 4 different types of day, you think that would be 12 levels but actually 2 cant be played and many of them are either empty or useless at certain times or you only ever need to go in their at that time once, so there is like only 8 levels form the 4 maps.

It is a shit tier game tbh
Most time you are spent in menus and it is a grind for weapon simulator.

      >Pros
Multiplayer, when it works, is great. The cat and mouse game of invader and hunter is super compelling and easily adds the challenge and planning that the base game AI lacks. The predictability of the static maps goes out the window as soon as another player is there moving around the proverbial dominoes so you can't guess how they will fall anymore. Invading feels more like a fun challenge than an annoying hindrance because you do get a significant home field advantage as the player against the invader and the rewards
Sound design is excellent and you can easily identify direction and distance of a character by the sound of their footfalls, which ties in heavily to the multiplayer.
The style of the game is super interesting and the hot jazzy music, colorful locales contrasted against the arctic environment, and slick retro futuristic 60's tech makes for a neat place to explore.
The gunplay feels good, even dual wielding, and for once there is no real punishment for inflicting all the chaos you can manage, but it still requires some planning or to be a fast and brutal hurricane of violence because both you AND enemies deal a lot of damage making combat quick and lethal with the constant risk of it spiraling out of control if you don't land your shots or run out of ammo as you get outnumbered and have to retreat to change tactics

        >Cons
Lack of options in ways to approach the final loop is a big fucking slap in the face for a series and developer that usually values and facilitates player expression. Even within individual target kills their routines are super basic and sometimes they are even completely stationary in a single location.
Game was way shorter than I expected and the things you can change within the loop by setting stuff up early and coming back later are really minor and heavily scripted. Was really hoping for a more clever use of the time loop than just making sure to hit every place at every time to explore it during certain windows. I can feel the diminished scope of this game when crunch and covid forced them to roll back their ambitions.
Enemy AI is too dumb even after it starts ramping up and the only real challenge comes from invasions, but matchmaking is ass and the hunts are very one-sided because of Colt's reprisals. Still, Julianna duals are fun and quick and brutal and you can tell a lot of the game's sacrifices (low enemy count, small levels structured like arenas, limited and easy to identify weapons, plentiful scattered healing items) were done to facilitate it.
The limit to two slabs is essentially only one because why would you ever give up the sheer utility of shift? And gun variety is a bit lacking too. The gun quality and jamming systems become completely irrelevant within a single loop once you get a good gun and infuse. And infusion is way too cheap and easy. You can almost always infuse every single thing you would want to on every loop.

        >Overall 7/10
Still a good game, but not one worth playing through again and with minimal lore or secrets to uncover and not enough challenge to inspire system mastery.
There are absolutely things to complain about, but the core game is a lot of fun and worth a try, especially on game pass or maybe at the current significant discount.

In Prey Mooncrash, you are playing a simulation of a day on a moon base that is collapsing due to human maliciousness, error, and typhons. You play multiple characters in one day and you are trying to finish they day with all characters escaping alive. You learn the story as you explore and level up each character and learn how to escape with each character. It is very good.

            Anonymous

Sort of. It's got an escalation scenario to play through, a class system for the five different characters, some minor story elements to uncover, and a meta currency way to carry some items through between simulations.
The main goal is to escape with all 5 survivors in a single simulation, but that's a lot harder to do than it initially sounds and requires some familiarity with the facility and discovering what all the escape methods are and how they work, as well as building up your characters with neuromod upgrades (that you keep between loops).
The interesting part is that each survivor only gets a narrow segment of the tech tree for upgrades, so each plays differently and you have to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each and how to set things up early in the loop to help other characters later in the loop.
It's honestly much more clever than Deathloop and executes the concept far better.

eh, i don't care much about the extra story and i'm not a fan of die-and-lose-progress stuff.
it seems like i would be playing the same game 5 times with a fifth of the available options each time

it's a moon base it's not that big. Basically there is a big circular central area that is moon like, with some structures in the middle, and along the walls there are doors that lead to different areas of the base. It's fun to level up all the characters and make them really powerful.

            Anonymous

I tried it and I should probably give it another go, but Mooncrash killed the atmosphere with the time pressure element. No more going off in a random direction and exploring at your own pace and investigating cool shit, now it's GO GO GO GO GO.

I finished Prey the other day, loved the game. Shot right up there as one of my favourites. And I didn't even use the ayy lmao powers, which probably would've made the game even more fun. There's something so neat about reading an email one computer, and then reading it from the sender's computer on the other side of the station. Between that, the tracing bracelets and the audio logs, they did a really great job of making it feel like a real place inhabited by people. My only gripe was the overlapping audio, the hacking minigame, and the fact the combat can be a bit overwhelming with all that's going on and the flickering effect they do.

I wish the game had been more freeform rather than "sidequesty" so I could like put together a mystery through terminals then find hidden things with the security systems dynamically instead of it being like "QUEST ADDED: LOOT IN A PLACE"

I've yet to see a Redfall trailer that intrigues me. Video game trailers on a whole are pretty shit, they always do a bad job about conveying what you actually do in the game. Instead it's all quippy dialogue and job cuts between random story beats with no context. If it's really just a co-op looter shooter I'll be dissapointed.

Word to the wise, don’t use modern trailers as any info other than the most general of things. Arkane games especially are guilty of being advertised as something they’re not. Use developer interviews and whatnot as a better guide. Worked well with deathloop. For Redfall, the game they describe is far different than what the trailers show, because they know normies only watch trailers and are only interested in playing Fortnite reskins, so the games are advertised as just that. In reality, from what the devs have said, the game is more like a open world, vampire themed version of Deus Ex (lite) that all still have the arkane qualities their games are known for. The game itself was in development for longer than Deathloop was.

What's the point of making niche games if your niche never hears what the game actually was and the only people that buy it got bait and switched into a genre they'll never enjoy

The niche already knows what time it is with Arkane. The normies need to be tricked into playing good and daring games.

Their consultants are trash and don't know how to make money. Everyone knows zoomies love the Sseth and Warlockery videos. These gay children would eat up a Deus Ex clone if you advertised it without the fellow kids vibe. The fuck is wrong with Arkane?

I guess how shitty their marketing department is. Or maybe they contract out. to some shitty agency, who knows?

I'm not sure Redfall will be a good game, but I've been watching some Prey trailers after playing the game, and, E3 concept trailer aside, they seem to present the game as some kind of space shooter, with a generic slogan "Fight the invasion!". And when you play the game it's very obviously not a generic shooter.

It’s an immersive sim still and the co-op is completely optional. Singleplayer mode is literally singleplayer, in that the other characters don’t join you at all, even as AIs. You can go the entire game without seeing anyone other than who you play as.

Prey ending was legitimately fantastic and people who say it was "just a dream" were unironically filtered.

Someone at executive level is their problem
    >design Dishonored
    >great level design and details as well as things to uncover
    >ruin it all by excessive handholding and a skill system that is more of a difficulty slider
    >design Prey with a studio on the other side of the planet
    >it has the exact same issues
Whoever it is at top level who thinks that players are all retarded and don't want to actually do anything themselves needs to get their shit kicked in.
