It really didn't, each iteration was vastly better than the previous except for fringe cases like Ghosts and Vanguard.
You can't expect Gankerirgin to have played anything beyond WaW/BO1.
Cold War, Blops 3 and 4 are the peak of the series.

And why is that? The Chaos storyline is alright and Dead of the Night is the best celebrity cameo map they've ever done.

What did Treyarch mean by this?

Hearing Richtofen talk about wieners and dicks for the 100th time is boring.
Hearing Brian Blassed scream all of his lines is more amusing.

The main group did get boring after a bit, the cameos and other groups broke that up.

      >Cold War, Blops 3 and 4 are the peak of the series
not at fricking all. gobblegums made every map cancer and black ops 4 destroyed the perk system. the map design in both are hit and miss with too many gimmicks. infinite warfare zombies is zombies at its peak because it struck the right balance of fun, challenge, and quest design.

not him, but the point of zombies was high rounds. gums ruined the game because it doesn't invalidate your round record. Ppl hacked back in the day but it was obv if they did, unlike gums.

There was a bit of effort to get the overpowered ones, and they were great fun too. Nothing like busting out every single perk immediately after going without that for ages. You knew you were in for a long haul match when one got used.

          >IW had shit characters
they characters are actors and are forced into different roles for each map. it's creative.
          >and a nonsense story that barely had anything to do with zombie hordes
sounds like every game after black ops 2. but the whole point of the IW zombies story is for willard wyler to film the main cast getting mauled by zombies for a glorious death scene but they keep managing to get out of the films they're trapped in and onto different films where willard wyler tries to get zombies to kill them again. its better than the schizo multiverse dogshit that treyarch dragged on for no reason.

it hit the ramp at the end of Moon in BO1, fell off the bike mid air with tranzit before also recovering mid air, landed with black ops 3, and then randomly fricking exploded when activision shot the gas tank with black ops 4. if it werent for gobble gums being so decisive id say it easily peaked at Bo3

When gimmicks and secrets became the sole focus and not the core mechanics.

WaW was meant to be fun one off bonus mode that took off during the early to mid 2000 zombie craze. From Nacht der Untoten to Der Riese you see Treyarch experiment with map layouts and progression, yet despite clunkyness it was solid. BO1 perfected the formula with adding new intuitive map layouts while also adding new mechanics that did not over shadow core gameplay but added variety and late round support. Add a dash of expanded lore to the nazi zombie univerese along with them adding in WaW maps as DLC and BO1 was the peak. Then BO2 happened. Tons of mechanics that interefere with core gameplay and map navigation while trying to captilise on lore/secrets for the youtubers to do lets plays of. Things just got more shit from there

NTA but buildables, fetch quests, "easter eggs" just being long quests that half the time you have to do 1/3rd of just to unlock the fricking pack a punch, wall running, turning into random bullshit that shoots electricity to power things on.

          Anonymous

All of those things were in WaW and Black Ops.
Literally all of them minus wal running, which is such a non-issue you're just shitposting at this point.
