I'm trying very hard with this series, so far I've played all of the 16-bit ones and the only ones I kind of enjoy are Super Castlevania IV and Bloodlines, and even Bloodlines has some kind of annoying difficulty spikes. I'm hoping it gets better with the PS1 games but so far I just don't get the hype, yeah the music is good but I feel the games themselves could be a lot better so far.
I really want to like Symphony of the Night, but I've started it twice over the years and only put a couple hours into a save before getting bored. I like Metroid, so I'm assuming once I stick with it I'll probably get really into it, but I've just bounced off it so far for whatever reason. Too many dang video games to choose from, I guess.
