Meanwhile in a actual rpg, you can customize stats, individual armor, individual weapons, skills, all with dozens to hundreds of options in each.
unless the game you're thinking of lets you buy everything from an npc, it's essentially the same thing, because you just roll the gacha with free currency to get all your shit anyway
For me the point is exploration but other than that I have 2/3 of the characters without ever paying anything and I've only been playing for a year.
No game would have this much content if it wasn't live service. Also "muh gacha" is meaningless when the game is designed to be beaten as f2p because most players are casual phonegays.

The game is actually more fun and challenging until you get established. I'm a low spender (5 dollar monthly deal for the first couple months, then nothing since), but I have enough built characters to roll over the hardest content in the game. When I was first starting, the game was actually way more interesting. Whales just ruin that for themselves.
