Normal is too easy and NM is when you finally have a decent set of skills and the enemies hurt again.
For a brief period in the middle where you think you have some flexibility in the build and there's an endless possibility of options and enemies but before you realize you're just grinding down an inevitable path waiting for some shit to drop so you can kill the same mooks faster than you already are.

Well I assumed you'd maybe have points where you have to use melee or magic.
You should support your summons with Corpse Explosion and Amplify Damage/Decrepify

Every character can beat the game on hell, but the Barb is slowest in every aspect. He's dependent the most on gear, more than any other class. So yeah, he is hard mode, even if it isn't very hard in the first place.
