A game that's trashed on release can't fully recover. The reputation is destroyed and 99% of people will move onto the next fotm. BFII 2017 barely limps on today because it's the only modern multiplayer Star Wars shooter.

        Anonymous

Nah, Payday 2 was pretty bad at launch and it recovered fine. I think for Battlefront the issue was it took way too long to come to Steam. Free weekends and shit never helped it recover but would give it some boosts.

Payday killed itself spiritually after a few years. Only zombies actually kept playing it.

The game you posted. Battlefront 1 (2015) was the last impressive game when it comes to visuals. It's still the best looking game out there.
And Endor still looks better than any game with ray tracing.

None. I only judge video games on their art style. Anything digital that tries to replicate nature and it's beauty already fails innately.

      Anonymous

Arrogant pseud. Real life has an art style too, dummy. Unless your whole game has zero man made objects in it I guess.

        Anonymous

Yes that art style is called nature. Nothing made by man will ever come close. Simple as. Only arrogant psueds would think otherwise.

          Anonymous

Nature has no intention and can't express anything. It can't be art, it can only be beautiful.
Architecture on the other hand is a form of artistic expression. Any game with a city or town has a style that means something and evokes specific emotions. Graphic fidelity has no relation.

Red Dead 2 on PC. Its probably the only new game they actually creates great scenes with its assets, lightning, weather effects.

Other than that most modern games kinda just look more of the same. Upscaling old games with lack of clutter unironically look better because they focus on the style more.

if devs actually spent time on their games, more would look like this. photogrammetry is rly time consuming and i feel like the content suffered a bit for it.

but again, game looks unreal. if i didnt know any better, if i was shown gameplay and was told it was presented at gdc 2023, i would honestly believe it.

the endor map fricking sucked ass to play on specifically because of how much detail there was everywhere. it was harder to find other players especially rebels because they blended in. i remember just disconnecting online to avoid playing it sometimes. the graphics made it worse.

it was fun as frick using the black stormtrooper armor (death trooper?) at nighttime on endor conquest (conquest was all i played)

i probably have 100 or more days of being out in the mountains/forest under my belt since i played these when i was younger, i wonder if it would be easier for me now and if i would have some intuition where to go i didnt have when i played these before. i just remember it seeming frustrating/boring to play because everything looked the fricked same and it felt like therewere no intelligent places to go, and it was just ambushing eachother so basically out cheaping one another. even when we won i was just glad it was done.

Decades ago because anything that goes for a realistic look ends up being a smear of colors and effects on screen and I cannot tell what the frick I'm looking at. Theres too much "noise" in the picture. Of all the realistic games I believe ARMA 3 looks the sharpest.
