      Just recently finished FFX actually
An hour or two most weeknights, usually more on weekends. They take a month or two to complete, but that's how it goes.

I also don't give in to FOMO/FOTM and feel bad when I don't finish games. It's pretty easy to juggle a small handful of RPGs when you're being patient.

      This too.

For me, I usually go nonstop over a weekend with no sleep.

Over the Holidays I beat Stranger of Paradise, FF15, FF7 Remake + Intermission.

This. But they’re also almost exclusively what I play so that probably knocks some off. Also, you don’t have to be a completionist on all of them. Just play them, enjoy the story and shelve it when you’re done. If you love it that much, you can always go back on a new game+ and try to everything on a run through a few years down the line.

For jrpgs? I dont find the time.

For good games? I play them slowly over long periods of time, my last new vegas run took a month for instance and id consider that a brisk pace.

If you're a NEET, you have all the time in the world.
If you're a productive member of society, you always have weekends and a few hours at the end of the day. Sure, it might take weeks or months, but you'll be able to finish even longer RPGs.

that site is trash. you can clear ff7 and all optional content in 25-30hrs
takes less than an hour to breed a gold chocobo and no racing is needed

yeah maybe if you're cheating with a guide

don't need a guide if you know how to play the game. it came out in the 90s for fricks sake
but keep going, you are on the verge of figuring out why those times are useless

          Anonymous

what do the 90s have to do with anything? games that came out 20 years ago were much harder than games today. image the average dark souls playing normalgay zoomer trying to beat Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask without a guide on the Nintendo 64 when it came out, because old games were unironically more difficult than any Reddit Souls game today. You are the biggest moron ITT, congrats.

I played both at release, and I disagree. OoT is not difficult. MM is not either except maybe the Water Temple.

            >what do the 90s have to do with anything?
it means you have had nearly 30 years to figure it out. and, as you mentioned, the shit is not difficult.
which side of this argument are you on, again?

I played OoT a few years ago for the first time and it was really fricking easy lol, your memory must be heavily tinted by your experience as a child. Certainly not in the realm of any of the Souls games.
Only Nintendo game I've played that someone might get stuck in without a guide is Super Metroid.

Manage time well to maximize free time, don't grind, don't be a completionist, don't play shit games.

  9. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

Just play whenever you have the free time. Also, don't play something that you don't want to play (I know this is obvious, but you'd be surprised the amount of people who keep asking "is this a good game?" Or "when does it get good?"

      Anonymous

And also just doing it consistently, don't spend a lot of time asking around "should I play this?" and worrying about it, just play games each night when you have the time. Jump right in.
You'll quickly develop a sense of whether a game is worth your time, this is called developing taste.

      >"just started this, what am I in for?"

It really isn't as daunting as people make it out to be. Let's say you play 3 hours of video games a day - in a week, that's 21 hours. Multiplied by four, that's 84 hours in a month. That's more than enough to complete a game. If you seriously can't find 3 hours in your day to play video games then you might just be overscheduling yourself.

      Anonymous

Hell, let's go really conservative and knock it down to an hour a day, which is probably unrealistic considering weekends. That's a longer game done in about a month, which isn't unreasonable.
I'd also expand upon that by comparing it to your game availability as a kid where you probably weren't getting more than a game a month anyway. You probably spent more time gaming, but I know personally at least, it was probably time spent less focused than your now adult brain will be, so I'll equate the quality of the time spent.

I think a lot of the dread people feel about their free time available for gaming isn't just the responsibilities of life dominating your schedule, but between having income and I assume a more robust understanding of piracy, you're completely inundated with games. Stop feeling like you're checking items off of a to-do list and just enjoy a game.

I can't help but feel like most of these times are inflated or padded. Because even if you take the time to do everything and read all the dialogue I can't imagine it taking this long unless you're the slowest reader alive.

Those times are averages. There are more stats when you actually view a game's page. I'm not here to shill HLTB but if you're only going off of the information OP gave you might get the wrong impression.
