Where should the next Fallout be set? Also, did you enjoy the setting of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts?

New York or Mississippi. FO4 was a good game, except by the lack of RPG content.

I don't care I just want them to go back to the original special system, get rid of the minecraft bull shit, and drop the voiced protag trash

      100%

It really took away from the immersion of the Fallout experience.

And the building system was not fun. It was difficult and just made me miserable gathering materials etc.

One of those things that seems like a great idea but actually sucks when implemented.

I remember liking the settlement system when the game first came out, but I'm doing a playthrough now and I've barely touched it. I've made a base for myself in the Commonwealth and the DLC Far Harbour area, and one town, and thats it. It already feels exhausting and I don't really want to touch the building system much more.

I wish they made more pre built settlements and less of this 'make your own town' stuff, it just makes the world feel barren. The only two cities I can remember in the base game are Diamond City and Goodneighbour. Goodneighbour is already quite small too.

In credit to FO4, the actual combat is a lot better than 3 and NV imho, so I have been enjoying just exploring and fighting shit, but I wish there was less emphasis on the settlement system overall

They should have offered you a series of customisation options within a pre built settlement, i.e change the interior, the style of chairs etc etc.

I think People would have appreciated a compromise like that. Something that is a lot less demanding but also allows you to make it somewhat unique.

I thought Boston was a decent map with some nice verticality though the surrounding wasteland was kind of lame.

There was nothing interesting about Boston no
Surface level accents and a few landmarks but it's still feudal fallout 3

The last thread I saw on this topic had some really interesting ideas. There were a lot of good Hawaii angles which surprised me, and another anon posed a scenario where the enclave is overseas a la American imperialism and you start in an enclave base and can pretty much decide what you do from there. Was a good thread tbh

You cannot beat roaming the Mojave.

Especially with mods that make survival more difficult. Ammo is difficult to come by. You don't get much in terms of loot.

Really makes you feel like a wasteland scavenger.

As an environment the Commonwealth was WAY better than fucking Neveda. I also hope we set the new game in the South like in Louisiana (New Orleans) or somewhere in the North West or in the far North-East states.

This. I mean giant mosquitos, gator claws, using motorboats, giant blood sucking leeches and new new orleans would be glorious.Add in enclave coming back from some secret lab under their old sea fort as well as special mirelurks to the region, throw in more swamp folk from pointlookout instead of supermutants.

I'm a complete sucker for any location that has beautiful Autumns, so yeah. I enjoyed the Boston Wasteland and wouldn't mind another place like it.

There should have been a faction of Redcoats, loyalists who thought that the way to return the Commonwealth to its former glory was through having their "King" rule over the land, that America lost its way because it was no longer a monarchy etc. They could have gone head to head with the Minutemen. Would have fit in with Boston's history.

That's who I thought Hancock was going to be when they first released the concept art designs.
