In theory it should be good but they fucked it up
-Battles drag on WAY too long
-Enemy weaknesses are a trial and error process
-If you have the wrong characters you cannot do any damage and you can't hot swap them out, you have to escape the battle, walk all the way back to town to the pub, then swap your characters out, walk all the way back out to the field, and try again.
This is mitigated a bit later on once you get swappable skills but it's still a massive flaw.

I've only played the remaster, but I've listened to the originals and can't understand they changed some of the tracks. The remastered tracks are significantly more subdued and seemed to dump a lot of the acoustic percussion like in Song of Ancients (Fate). Love the music, hauntingly addictive. I just finished my route E in replicant and so far I just don't think Automata is going to be as impactful. Right out the gate I already know the plot is lying to me about humanity so I dunno.

The characters and story in those games are amazing.
The gameplay for both has zero depth and the graphics speak for themselves. As for the story, I was charmed by the characters and the wittiness, but honestly guys let's not kid ourselves like it's anything more than a AO3 fan fic circa 2013. It's a quirky fun time, maybe even refreshing, but any more plaudits than that is some Brony-tier shit.

FuRyu games have this initial impression of “Oh, wow, this looks a lot like X or Y game from [different company]” only for the game to be nothing like that. Which I think is ultimately better than them being rip offs.

Chun, Jamie, Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Marisa, Deejay, and all the stage music is great. For a few other characters the issue is that only the Round 3 part of their theme is good. It's not as good as I expected and there's a handful of boring tracks but I don't get how people are calling the OST trash as a whole.
From what we heard in the last trailer Gief's theme sounds pretty good too. Cammy will never top her very first theme so it doesn't really matter what they gave her.

Nier 1's graphics are pretty bad. It starts loading unfiltered LOD textures like 10 feet in front of you, not to mention the sameface or animation. Everywhere in Automata other than the factory and amusement park looks the same and the grass is shit.
It's a ps3 fucking game.
So was Skyrim, and despite being an actual open world it at least had the decency to put the LOD 30 feet in front of you and use anisotropic filtering. It also had more than one face model and its trees had more than 16 tris.
I think it's more that people who like music from Nier and Automata are more in a rush to say the music is good. Just look at all the duplicate posts in this thread.

For me it's because once you become so powerful it all feels the same regardless of the character you pick and it's very easy to be OP. I still like going back every couple months to do a few runs though.

For some reason, Tim Follin mostly only ever composed for shit/shovelware games his entire career. But he went above and beyond for every single one.
Most good games were the result of a larger developer that had their own sound team. Like konami music is so good because they have the Konami Kukeiha Club rather than having to outsource composers to come in they had a whole department that developed, composed and worked to understand the limitations of the hardware.
To be fair, some visual aspects were ok, but still a trash game carried by the OST.

It sounds like it could be in movies or high tier OVAs and it's accompanied by some of the jankiest code failure of a crafting series that literally looks as though it's smearing falling apart as you turn your camera. It's a hideous game series with terrible gameplay and insipid stories none of the graphics or gameplay live up to its concept work. Not to mention that it's alchemy system is the most retarded and random feature so you have this barely functioning exploration segment capped by mandatory alchemy nonsense.
