      Wireless is objectively more comfortable.
But the amount of rage I feel when it run out of battery in the middle of a game always make me come back to wired.

A vast majority of professional players across all FPS/TPS games use wireless these days, because it completely eliminates cable drag. Now whether or not you think cable drag is annoying, that's entirely subjective. If you aren't a top 10% player then you have probably never even thought about cable drag.

In terms of overall performance they're basically the same so it comes down to cost and which (minor) downsides you care most about.

How is possible that wireless mouse dont have any input lag compared to wired? Why wired exists still?

        Anonymous

They do, but nowadays it's an extremely minuscule amount. We're talking like 1ms. Even at 144 fps, that's not even a frame of difference. Hell, even at something like 300 fps, that's not even one frame. I don't use them for one solitary reason, and that's the fact I don't like batteries. I'd rather just deal with cable management rather than spend cash for a rechargeable battery or if it comes with one, deal with the fact that battery is done in like 3 years and then you'll have to completely gut the mouse to replace it, most likely breaking something when you do. I'll just take the cord.

2.4ghz wireless is effectively lagless and in some incredibly niche cases it can be better than latency over a wire
we haven't used bluetooth for wireless mice beyond compatibility purposes in a fat minute, same for keyboards and some game controllers for that matter

Wireless is only "good" via brute force.
A wired mouse polling at 1000hz or even 500hz is flawless.
A wireless mouse would need a polling rate of 4000hz if not 8000hz for the sake of redundancy to make up for the excessive amount of signal inconsistency and packet loss, just to measure up to a 500hz wired mouse's performance.

wireless beat wired long ago its just hard to make new polling rates stable on them while on cable its easier so you always get the latest technology like 8khz on wired mouse first

      Anonymous

This. Polling rate is very important for precision in DPI. Most probably won't know this until they get ultra sweaty in a game. For me, I tend to use very low DPI 300-450 and it makes a whole lot of difference having the polling rate to max (1000 ppi or fpi on my old mouse) compared to absolutely no control over the polling rate and having to go super fast and do autistic stop-motion twitch movements to control the mouse.

It's one of the most important things for me next to my keyboard switches because I play a rhythm game called "osu!" and have to do very precise mouse movements and tapping

        Anonymous

Any chance you have an infographic or something explaining the in's and out's of what dpi and polling actually are and how they interact?

          Anonymous

it's simple, DPI is just like on a printer, dots per inch, it's the resolution of the sensor. 1600 is good enough for anyone, 3200 if you really want. 800 is common too and works fine. I personally run 1600. Side note, higher is NOT always better or more accurate, a lot of mice will interpolate and fake higher DPI than 3200.
polling is how often the mouse tells your pc "hey your mouse is at X,Y. 1k is decent, 2k is better because it also lowers your click latency. It costs more CPU and battery though. 4k and 8k are VERY diminishing returns, lowers click latency but hardly measurable let alone a real world benefit.
I use and recommend 1600dpi and 2k polling.

Can't avoid the double click at some point. What you can do is find a mouse which lets you replace the switch. Some brands like endgame gear allow for replaceable switches without having to solder it.

Wired performs better, it's constantly at the polling rate you select for your mouse, whereas wireless goes up to the polling rate you select based on current movement speed of the mouse. Also wired has less input latency and lag. However, wireless lacking a cable makes up for the above weaknesses. Some people say get a mouse cord bungee, and sure that's probably honestly the best.

Wireless mice do last forever, I'm using one for my laptop and the last time I replaced the batteries was after years of use when they actually started leaking. I cannot speak for their quality when it comes to vidya, I'm still using wired for that, but still, charge levels barely matter nowadays.

also most wireless mice are plugin to charge, I just plug mine into a lightweight USB-C cable for an hour or so (where it is 100% usable during that time) to charge it up to full.

I never play multiplayer games so 1 minute downtime to battery swap means literally nothing, not everyone is a sweaty compgay like yourself. >Don't do that, it fricks up the battery.
A lithium ion battery lives longest (loses least capacity over time) somewhere around 40-60% charge. Fully draining it may shorten the lifespan (except for Nickel Metal Hydride batteries or Ni-MH), although modern electronics tend to cut off the power well before that point is reached. Keeping these concerns in mind, you should charge as long and as often as you want (i.e. it shouldn't matter if you make frequent, multiple partial charges around 50% charge versus going from 40% to 60% in one go).

You rite, but it's more than close enough, see pic
            >their build quality has a lot of issues
Not really. Some chinese clones had issues in the past but lately they are comparible to $100+ mice from western companies. The only REAL downside is poor warranty support, but at like 1/3 or 1/4 the price you can literally buy another and still win. $150 have issues pretty often with scroll and double click because all the companies use the same switches and sensors anyways.
            > software can be hit or miss
True, but not the case with VXE/VGN/ATK, they have webdrivers so you dont even need to install drivers, it saves right on the mouse. And the interface is super clean and unbloated.

It's true chinese clones were hit or miss in the past, but they have come a long way and offer real competition for way less money now.

its called VXE R1 Pro. Pretty popular company (VXE/VGN/ATK all made by same company)
Dont get the R1 Ultimate it has different switches and people reported problems with double clicks. Its $36 on Alibaba, took 1 week to get to me. Comes with 1k polling dongle, I already had the 4k polling dongle from the F1 Moba I got a year ago (more of a logi superlight X clone) If you want the 4k too you can buy the dongle with it, should be like an extra $18 or something. I recommend only using 2k polling tho, 4k is a waste of battery.
If you don't wanna use alibaba for whatever stupid reason theres a website called mechkeys that will ship it from the west but it might cost a little more buying from them.

Objectively? Wireless. Is it worth the extra cost, and other small downsides? Depends. I went wireless, basically the same shape with wireless and a different sensor. I would probably not bother with wireless if you dont have a huge mousepad.

I have a desk sized mousepad and tkl keyboard, so I actually make use of low dpi and mousepad space. In 99% of cases lower dpi more space is just better. The point being that if you dont have a large mouse area that you use, the cable is literally not affecting you either way. I did a bunch of aimtrainer stuff before and after switching, and disregarding the "better" sensor, I easily broke all my scores with wireless. Not worrying about the cable made stuff like long term tracking miles easier.

I plug it in for like 5 minutes once a month, even with

Wired is better for input consistency and speed, but it depends on what receives/processes input.

Wireless would be better for gloves, pointers, guns etc. Cords wear out too. But so do batteries. USB mini/micro/c/4 is too small and flimsy a connection, but USB 2/3 is too slow. A more robust connection is arguably better than speed, especially when the socket of something smaller fails when used plugged in.

TLDR: Corded for mice, they can be lighter because of it and won't have recharging issues. Wireless connection speed isn't the problem it's the bad connection of small inserts and ports.

All mice will have different click latencies due to how far you have to press down and what debounce time was set.

even if you buy into the whole "there's no reason to buy wireless" thing, you should buy a wireless mouse anyways so you can benefit from having a replaceable cable. take its battery out if you're worried about it

i had a top esport wireless mouse, non-logitech
and it worked good for 5 years
but i never got over the fact that i had to charge it, its the most annoying shit ever after you've been used wired all your life
i could make do with wireless bluetooth earbuds since they hold a charge for weeks of use, but wireless mice go out fast
i had battery ones, and i had rechargeable ones...and they all had weird gimmicks like taking 3 seconds extra to turn on and off instead of being on and working instantly the moment you turn your pc on
it was like i payed premium price and it only lowered my quality of life
i now have a 58g wired esport gaymer mouse and its way comfier than any wireless i had

    >All this crying about disconnections, latency, and needing to charge on wireless mice
I've been using a G903 for 4 years and none of these have ever once even popped up as an issue. What the frick mice are you even trying to use that keep running into these problems?

Imaginary mouse because as much Ganker doesn't play video games, wireless haters never used a wireless device in their life.

      >What the frick mice are you even trying to use that keep running into these problems?
99% of people complaining have never even owned a wireless mouse, and they are just regurgitating shit from 10 years ago, because they are salty that they don't have a wireless mouse themselves. It's exactly like the morons who go "YOU DON'T NEED ANYTHING MORE THAN 30 FPS".

I've been using the Pro X Superlight and it's served me quite well over the years. Wireless should be fine as long as it uses one of those USB dongles and not bluetooth, which is so outdated not even Microwiener uses that shit the 360 controllers used a proprietary 2.4GHz wireless protocol, Xbone and Xbox Series controllers and accessories all use a 5GHz of the same, bluetooth is only there as the fallback option.
I don't know why your keyboards need to be wireless too, but that's been a huge trend these days.

    depends what you play
if you're lying on the couch playing a city builder or dating sim then wireless is fine
only really want wired for like.... if you're a sweaty MOBA or FPS player

The vast majority of professional MOBA and FPS players use wireless these days.

      I have the same one
scrol wheel resistance is weird and changes from time to time on his own, already disabled other wheel profiles on razer synapse

also my previous naga pro v2 thumb button stopped working after one year, good thing they have warranty but still... seems always something breaks in less than 2 years with razer, I wish other company mouse fit my small hand like razer

Damn, I had my Naga Trinity since like 2018 and she's been great.
Only replaced her recently bc SOMETIMES, very rarely, and only in apex, my ads/rightclick would unclick, and it's been a long time.

I love the buttons and feel of the mouse, though. Great layout, great concept.

Unless you are using some artsy no cables setup and want to go for minimalist aesthetics, there is literally 0 reason to not go for wired over wireless.

Yeah there is, the cable is fricking annoying. If you can eliminate that annoyance without suffering any other annoyances in the process, the reverse is true. Will never use a wired mouse again.

    >wireless mouse
I can't even count the amount of times I quickly moved my right hand from the mouse to the keyboard and accidentally bumped the mouse which was sent flying, only then to be saved by hanging off the desk by the cable. If it was wireless it would have gone flying across the room, which would result in a dead mouse. Frick wireless mice.

Wired if you always use it at the same spot, wireless if you want to play from somewhere else in the room. It's that simple.
