have a nice day
all but x7
I know 8 is the worst, but that's no reason to forget it.
X7 really has absolutely nothing going for it. Even most of the devs were frustrated with it because they were brought on board AFTER a smaller team created the (bad) framework.
8 is better than 7.
Nah, it's not even a Mega Man game
I'd rather a game that's decent but not Mega Man than a shit game using Mega Man's skeleton.
its still better then 7 mate
i dont care how much you hate 8
7 is irredeemable
These. I'd say very few of them are great games, but they're all short and simple.
Emulate instead of buying the collections, though. And apply fan fixes where you can.
Just do 1-6
The last few can be divisive but it's best to see for yourself
1-3
What about Z/ZX?
All of them.
Z1 is a bit tedious/reuses stages, ZX has a horrendous map system and ZXA gets too gimmick happy, but all six of them are good games.
Vanilla X5 is the worst of the PS1 X games. At least suggest X5 Improvement.
X5 has the best levels of the PS1 games. The gimmicky crap with the armor and ranking system is hardly a dealbreaker.
Only bad thing about it is randomly losing Zero
>X5 has the best levels of the PS1 games.
The game with Grizzly Slash's stage? Really?
Yes, does that stage have an issue?
You could have at least mentioned one of the autoscroll parts
I mean the first half of the stage is a literal straight line where you get stopped every two platforms by Alia and the second half is this, but nah, you're right, amazing stage design.
None. Gba screen too small
Literally git gud. Z2 puts you into like two blind jump situations and gives you walls to slide down so you don't have to leave it to fate.
Literally just 1, 2 and 4 if you want just good games
1-4 are worth it, you can use the save-assist on the collection if you're struggling on a first playthrough
I don't like ZX or ZXA but I should replay them at some point
Not a good game in any capacity but I like playing it as Zero
1,2 and 5
That's all
What's Ganker opinion on X6?
Well holy goddamn
I both love and hate it
shit. x7 only seems worse because of the 3d bullshit and the rescuing people=getting upgrades, so many people shit on x8 when x6 is a far bigger tragedy.
Garbage propped up by people who literally only ever play Zero and abuse his braindead bullshit in every game and then complain they're too easy
Depends on who you ask.
If you ask the kind of person who
>Plays a game once and then doesn't go back to it.
>Needs to play every bit of content.
>Thinks games should focus on objective, "fair" design goals over all else.
>Refuses to mod games
it's really bad.
If you ask the kind of person who
>Replays short games many times over.
>Places engagement and a good challenge vs wasted time ratio over strength of design.
>Is fine with skipping content they don't like.
>Thinks using fan mods for games is reasonable.
it's one of the better X games.
Game's jank and unfinished, but it's way closer to X1 and X2 than X4 and X5 were. Some levels are terrible and others are fun. Think JP SMB2 except way less hardcore because MMX is easier than SMB. It also has a fan edit mod with a preset to fix most of the game's problems as well as an app that lets you customize almost every aspect of the game.
I think it's pretty good, but it's definitely a budget game with some sore spots.
Great game, filters subhumans.
1, 2 and 4 are the best ones
X1-X5, possibly skipping X3
2>1>8>4>5>3>6>7
there is a romhack that fixes a lot of x5's shortcomings (deletes alia for example) in which case it gets ranked above 4 but still not quite as good as x8,which is a very solid game
After replaying all the games i can say for certain that x7 is absolutely dog shit and not worth playing unless you really wanna see how bad it is and laugh at the voice acting,x6 is not as bad as people think, its only frustrating the first time you play but once you figure out the bullshit honestly the game is kind of fun,it has interesting ideas and tough challenges with excellent music but ultimately its still a broken mess of a game
i find x2 better than x1 but honestly both should be tied in quality,x1 has better ost and atmosphere and hadouken,x2 has better everything else
thanks for reading my blog
X8 is the exact same as MM8
barely even a Mega Man game and more like a shitty minigame collection
>x6 is not as bad as people think, its only frustrating the first time you play
No it isn't. The game is filled with shit like blind jumps, having to game over yourself because you had the nerve to equip the shadow armor and cannot go back, mother virus is literally an RNG fest that regularly creates unavoidable attacks, you can run into high max with no ability to damage him again requiring you to game over yourself, it's full to the brim with bullshit instant death situations or rescue situations that you need to know in advance or you cannot react in time, the unlock system is literally broken, the game is blatantly designed for Zero only to the point that all of X's armors are saber based and require you to play as a shitty inferior Zero knockoff anyway, it has some of the laziest stage design I have ever seen (Donuts being an obvious and very glaring example)
I could go on and on this is just off the top of my head. Half this shit in any other game would be considered damning. It's terrible. The fact you can know which parts are terrible and try to avoid them in a repeat playthrough does not excuse it. You can also skip the entirety of X5 and just go straight to the final stage, but that doesn't mean you can ignore it's problems either.
its precisely what i said, frustrating the first time you play because you need to die to blind jumps and get dead ends and fall into traps etc,but once you know what you are in for the game is half decent, just like old NES games, but dont get me wrong, the game is at the bottom of my list precisely because the game is straight up broken, but at least i can have a little sparkle of fun unlike x7,which just plain fucking sucks
What kind of reasoning is that? I can enjoy Sonic 06 more as well once I know how to avoid falling through the loops and where the glitches and instant death garbage is, it's still a shitty game and in good games you don't need to memorize and play around garbage, then pretend it doesn't exist, to pretend it's not bad.
I could maybe see the argument if the stages or bosses were good or something, but they're not. Stage design in X6 is usually just lots of instant death hazards haphazardly scattered all over the place or just copy pasting nightmare enemies everywhere which are impossible to avoid if you leave them for more than 2 or 3 seconds and there's more than one. Good NES platformers are not nearly as badly thought or or as cheap as X6 is.
>Sonic 06 is a bad game.
Yes.
>Sonic 06 is a bad game because you fall through the floor sometimes.
No.
>But instant death!
MM9 has more instant death traps than X6 and it's one of the most beloved games in the series. You need to stop focusing your arguments on [EXISTENCE OF DESIGN ELEMENT = BAD] and instead focus on how these elements interact and why they're a problem. There's good arguments for X6 being a bad game, but yours are terrible.
if trial and error is such a bad thing, then why people like games like dark souls? or cuphead? or any roguelike ever, you are basically required to die first to know whats coming, x6 has very solid stages and ideas, which is what makes it sorta fun, yes, the donut stage is lazy and boring, nightmares every fucking where is annoying and boring, nightmare effects are terrible and unfun, and those are downsides i cant deny but my point is that the game has redeeming factors that most people seem to ignore, see for yourself and play the game again, i promise you will enjoy more than you remember
I'm not gonna argue all of this because yeah, X6 has big issues, but some of this is just stupid.
Things like
>You can accidentally see High Max too soon
>Shadow Armor doesn't work in Gate Stage
are only problems your first time through. And you talk about "having to Game Over" when it's literally faster to hit the reset button on your Playstation. The game has save files. Why would you just stare blankly at the screen instead of reloading?
>it has some of the laziest stage design I have ever seen (Donuts being an obvious and very glaring example)
Blaze Heatnix and Ground Scaravich are terrible, but X4 and X5 have absolutely terrible level design. I don't get why X6 gets so much more flak for this. I would play Yammark, Turtloid, MSP and Wolfang over pretty much any X5 stage.
1, 2 and 4. Ignore 3 apologists.
1-3 are great
4 is good but imo a bit too easy
5 feels rushed and cheap despite the story being the end of the world
6 has some annoying stage design but overall alright
7 is overall kinda shitty but i dont think it was as bad as people said
8 is alright, better than 4,5,6 as a game but looks cheap
I would say X3 isn't balanced well and X7 is worse than you're saying it is, but overall this is reasonable.
Everything before X6. After that just look up plot summaries and skip to Zero.
X1
X3 with the zero mod
X4
X5 with the fan fixes
X6 with fan fixes
i'm inclined to agree with this anon, however i havent played 6-8
Worth noting that the 3.xx version and the 4.xx and onward versions of Zero Project are radically different.
>No X2
Booooo.
The Hunter Base is awful, but the first 8 stages are great.
i hate all the fights with violin and his seemingly random mace wall bounces
i hate serges 2, that is genuinely one of the least enjoyable fights in the series
i hate the way the x hunters are implemented, where if you fuck up enough they just stop showing up and on some levels, its very easy to miss where they are
i hate good chunk of bosses in general in x2. wheel gator, morph moth, magna centipede, crystal snail, wire sponge, they all have these massive periods where you cant attack them (whether its off-screen/invincible). x3 might have dumber ai, but there were a lot less tedious moments in those fights compared to 2's.
Filtered, X2 is the best X game.
I don't like the X Hunters, yeah, but the Maverick stages are all fantastic.
Just ignore the hunters and turn the game off when you hit their base.
x1 through 6 vary from good to awesome in no particular order because opinions, man
x7 lol, enjoy the flame boss
z series are overall pretty good and significantly harder than x series
zx and zxa are damn good too and well worth the time. the battle against omega in zx is the fucking tits
1 to 4, 8 is ok i guess, 5 if you're really desperate for more
6 7 and 8 are all pretty bad
X2 > X1 > X8 > X6 > X4 > X5 > X3 > X7
Fair enough, but I think the fan jacks really improve 3 and 5.
please refrain from talking about fan patches
it might make HIM show up
Who
there is an autismo that claims that fan patches cause x6 to be the best game in the series
and gets unreasonably upset when people say they dont count fan patches in their tier lists
I wouldn't say it's the best game by a long shot, but trying to argue fan balance/bug fixes should be ignored when you care enough to post a tier list on Ganker seems pretty stupid to me.
this would be based but you fumbled. X6 is bottom tier
Yeah, anon made the mistake of actually playing X3 and X7, coming to understand they're even worse than X6.
1 and 4. Nothing else matters.
I like 5 the most. Fuck your mother
I too am blinded by both nostalgia and shit taste
I too am a gay. Have a nice day.
X5 used to be my favorite until I olayed legacy collection. X8 is my shit now
