    The UFO special stages easily

UFO's are braindead. Easiest special stages in the series.

Mania's are easier. At least in CD you have to worry about depth perception.

        >At least in CD you have to worry about depth perception.
Only in the Taxman versions. In the original the middle part of the ufo sprite changes color when it's within "destroying" distance.

        >Mania's are easier
        Literally how the frick?

      The special stages of course.
At least those you only have to do 6 times and if you miss doing them in one act you can just do it in the next act.

I've never destroyed all the robot generators in the game.
It's too much of a hassle trying to find all of them in each and every act, on top of the hassle of reliably time travelling in Sonic CD.

Definitely not the easiest whatsoever on the remastered versions.
In the original game yeah they're easy thanks to the slideshow framerate, but the remasters make them really difficult.

I'd rather do Sonic 2, 3 & K, and Mania special stages over remaster CDs.

Neither, I ignore all special stages in all sonic games, they just slow the game down.

Don't you need to do the ufos to get the special ending?

      Anonymous

You get the ending if you destroy all the generators in the Past variants of the stages.

        Anonymous

So what's the point of the ufos?

          Anonymous

You choose to do one or the other. With the generators, you have to find them in every Past variant, so you have to travel to the Past in every stage. With the stones you have to finish the stage with 50 rings which isn't that easy, and the UFO stages have some problems with depth perception, but you do those 7 times and you're done.

      Anonymous

The good ending is received if you "make a good future" in every level, which you can accomplish either by destroying the generator in the past version of a level, or just by having all the Time Stones

        Anonymous

        Huh choices, cool.

I'd probably try changing the pasts, the ufo stages were annoying to control from what I remember.

I think it's actually faster to destroy the transporters than it is to collect the Time Stones, provided you don't get lost.

      Anonymous

Well, it is if you know where they are (and though i wouldn't do it you can just check their placement online), I think the hard part of it all is the traveling to the past itself. There's specific areas in stages that are made for time traveling, I know that, and I think you can cheese the mechanic with the drop dash by spamming it left and right, but you'd still have to find a good place in the stage to do it.

yeah I remember taking fricking forever to go to the past in wacky workbench
I didn't like cd very much overall, trying for all the generators bogs it down a lot

Why couldn't they implement Knuckles in CD?

      Anonymous

Because Origins was super rushed. We already know they were initially planning to let people switch different character sprites for each game, so it makes sense to assume that Knuckles in CD would have been planned as well. Hell, considering how much Amy appears in Origins' promotional shit/animations, they were probably planning on making her playable too.

Gotta make sure the game releases on Sonic's birthday, though, because that's a date that really matter to causal audiences.

had to make new sprites for some of the level gimmicks and the special stage which would've required something sega hates, effort

destroying the badnik teleporter and the metal sonic hologram is completely batshit stuff you'd need multiple restarts for.

I've never really liked Sonic CD much but in Origins I went for the generators or whatever they are, and it actually made the game kinda fun. Gave a vague purpose to the time travel and encouraged exploration. Not even hard, first time trying I only missed 2: PP1 only because I hadn't yet decided I was going to try it, and WW1 because that is easily the worst level in any Sonic game ever.
The special stages are not bad but they still suffer from being 2D pretending it's 3D.

UFOs. Tried going for full 100% in Origins, and while it was a little bit fun trying to find the generators and the projectors, it eventually became very tiring especially considering how much of a mess the levels actually are. I ended up using maps to show me where they were and I'd try to get there by myself. This game really would benefit from something similar to a mini-map I think, or no time limit whatsoever

      >mini-map
Something like that would be neat if Iizuka allows Mania 2 or something
