      Vampires don't have working penises.

Yes they do, they work even better than normal penises in terms of control, they just don't get any kicks from it.

Never heard of that white hair chick, so I'd go with Metroid. He's way more badass than some vampire wannabe.

Sephiroth is from Kingdom Hearts. That's Simon Belmont from Chronotrigger. Jesus Christ you're fricking dumb

I hate the buzzwords but, for brevity: Recommend a metroidvania for a tired gamer.

I'm sick of compulsive optimization, preplanning, looking shit up. That'll be especially bad in a full-blown metroidvania. I'll be done with Hob soon which has been decently satisfying - lightweight moveset, secrets based on just paying attention and finding the access, not an excessive amount of places to remember to backtrack to later on, etc - and I would like something just a little bit deeper.

Honestly just play Super, Zero-Mission or Dread. If you're looking for something not metroid both Ori games are my favorite thing personally.

The standards for horror were a lot different then. A regular ass story involving a vampire was horror.

            Anonymous

To be fair, a vampire is a pretty horrifying thing, it's just that vidya is full of equally horrifying things so it kinda fizzles out. Things that would be genuinely horrifying to encounter in reality are not horrifying to us anymore, because we dissasociate.

I mean, the horror is in what they do. Otherwise they're just an immortal. So a story that doesn't involve them doing anything particularly horrifying....

Bram Stroker's Dracula didn't have him doing much more than what Dracula does in Castlevania. The horror is in that this thing exists and that it could be after you.

I'm thinking of playing La-mulana. How important are the scenario and dialogue, if there is any ?
Also, is it really that hard ?

It's a game about puzzles, make sure you write down every tablet and conversation in the game to reference it later or you'll get lost very fast. Also there's a manual, I recommend you check it out.

If you're the type to mash through text without paying any attention to it, La-Mulana is not going to be kind to you.
A big part of solving the ruins is gathering and recording information written all over the place, not to mention paying attention to detail. The traps of the ruins are there to kill you, after all.

As for difficulty, some things take some getting used to. One thing I would recommend early on is getting a good grasp of what you can do with your jumps. In terms of death and setbacks, if you're staying on top of saving, and building up a good map of an area (whether it's in your head, written physically, or what) you shouldn't have many problems even when you do wiener up royally and bite it. Knowing your way around will be valuable in getting back to where you were to give it another shot.

Super Metroid. Might have been symphony if it weren't for the upsidedown castle part.

I prefer Super Metroid to SotN, but I never got the hate that the upsidedown castle got. That was the coolest shit. Yeah, some parts of it are tedious to play, but the fact that you got to apply your knowledge of how to traverse the castle like was just a nice touch. Though I don't quite remember, was the upside down castle optional or did you have to complete it entirely to beat the final boss?

It was technically entirely optional if you were okay with getting the bad ending by killing Richter, but IIRC the only thing you really did in there was fight a bunch of bosses to get the pieces of Vlad to fight Dracula.
