Which one should I buy?

Which one should I buy? I play mostly third party games, I don't care much about exclusives, though I like RPGs, so Blizzard and Bethesda exclusivity might change things a bit. What do you guys think?

Which one would you buy? If you like consoles that is.

    >I don't care much about exclusives
    Series X
ps5 has nothing else going for it
backwards compatibility and emulation on Xbox are great

    ps5 is way more popular

    gotta do what's popular

Series X if you don't give a shit about PS5 exclusives. One X boosts are better then PS4 Pro boosts and FPS boost is god tier for making 7th/8th gen games tolerable on it. Also game pass.

if you like jrpgs, you want a ps5. too many jrpgs miss xbox. blizzard games all suck now and starfield wasn't that great. reevaluate if you want a cheap series s after tes6 comes out, assuming it comes out this gen.

      you mean a Switch

ideally you want both because the switch AND ps5 sometimes get jrpgs that miss the other system and sometimes multiplats like that new fate game that do end up on both run poorly on the switch. the ideal is play on pc obviously but that wasn't what the topic was asking, between the ps5 and the xbox, the ps5 has many jrpgs that the xbox doesn't and it's some really weird ones too like the xbox missing the final fantasy pixel collection of all things.

not sure i'd even buy a switch right now either with the switch 2 most likely coming next year. unless we're talking an older easily hackable model or something.

      >too many jrpgs miss xbox.
Xbox has pretty much all of the relevant ones at this point except some of the Final Fantasy titles due to Sony moneyhatting

not really, a lot of smaller games miss it. legend of heroes series, romancing saga games, recent stuff like that fate arpg, etc. it's the absolute worst modern system to own if you like jrpgs.

he means the relevant titles with a budget, not the cheap weeb trash

legend of heroes(aka trails) is one of the biggest deals in the jrpg community, if you actually played them you'd realize this. basically everything nis releases misses xbox which includes stuff like disgaea, their labyrinth games, grimgrimoire once again, etc. you're sounding like a marketer if you only care about aaa games when most aaa games fucking suck ass now. aa and indie is where it's at, any actual gamer will share this sentiment.

I tried the first one on PC and hated it personally, but yes I know they're considered a big deal

anyway I'm sure Microsoft could arrange ports for Xbox if there was enough demand for the series but there probably isn't at this point

                Anonymous

yeah, there just isn't much demand for weeb games at all outside of yakuza. which is why microsoft didn't bother paying for octopath 2 to be ported after the first one bombed on gp. but that's more of a reason for anyone who likes jrpgs to skip the system. pc is really the platform to own if you care about them, it's more of a 2d arpg like the igavanias but astlibra revision is really amazing and there's no way microsoft or sony allow that game on their storefront because it's too horny at a couple of parts. which is a shame for snoys when the switch port comes out this month.

    >I play mostly third party games
Then the answer is Series X because it's more powerful for the same price and has gamepass. It also doesn't look like an apple product

Don't lie to the lad, it's more powerful yet games often run worse because devs put less effort into the Xbox ports because everyone waits for GP releases instead of actually buying games.

Here's a very recent example, which is especially damning because it's from one of Microsoft's own first party studios.
          https://wccftech.com/ghostwire-tokyo-xbox-series-x-worse-than-ps5-resolution-fps-ray-tracing/

There have been others like Callisto Protocol, Wild Hearts, Hogwarts Legacy, and Atomic Heart this year alone and each digital foundry video for those games proves that without shadow of a doubt and those are just from this year and it's not even all of them.

            Anonymous

Yeah there's probably a handful of games that are better on PS5 but the majority will be better in Series X because it's more powerful. Also gamepass.

              Anonymous

It's more than just a handful, most games have Playstation as the lead SKU because it has twice the install base of Xbox and way more paypigs and that's why the multiplats often run better, because it was built for the ground up to run on the Playstation and that's exacerbated by Sony being huge homosexuals with a parity clause where the Xbox versions can't be designed to be better so no multiplat actually make use of the better hardware. We already saw this play out with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, it's the same exact thing now.

Only Xbox lets you connect to a local media server. If you want to play your games while listening to your stuff, Xbox is the way to go

Yeah but PS5 can let you use any controller you want thanks to Remote Play. Can Xbox let you use a different controller?

Well no but you do have a dev mode that costs 20$. Then you can also install emulators. How many emulators can you play on PS5?

          >How many emulators can you play on PS5?
Actually quite a few now, there's even a homebrew store set up but you have to be on older firmware to hack your ps5 and make use of it.

series x is the better console in every way, it does more and supports more a/v shit than the ps5
if you have a vpn, argentina/turkey codes are still viable on xbox stuff so it's way cheaper

dev mode emulation is icing on the cake

The Series X has a better selection of stuff on gamepass and better backwards compatibility, it's overall the better console. Not massively better but the 360 titles just about cinch it.

If I was going to buy one to be my only gaming machine, I would get the Xbox because of gamepass. But as someone who already has a PC, I would get the Playstation. I wont, though.

As someone who actually owns both unlike some pretenders who claim to be in this thread, I'm mostly playing on PS5. I sometimes turn on my Xbox when there's a new game release on GP and then once I'm done with the game or start getting bored I fuck off to PS5 again.

The Series X is fucking amazing as a console and if you're mostly a third party game player, Xbox is the way to go. Also if you're not a retard and have a good PC, gamepass is incredible for both PC and the Xbox. Don't get a Series S, though, it's shit. The only downside to the Series controllers is they are loud as fuck.

As a console, the Series X is amazing, though. There's just no fucking games, but the PS5 has no games either. So yeah, going by console, the Xbox is gonna win.

PC. But if you must buy a console, PS5 is the only logical answer. You don't miss out on anything. Even if you don't care about exclusives- why would you willingly lock yourself out of them?
