Good luck even making a dent with that, moron. Gotta make that shit AT LEAST asynchronous and scalable.

For big companies maybe. But for obnoxious indie devs whos game is only a few MB? Could at least take a few hundred a day, which is big to them.

        >*due to changes in our licensing agreement, you may now only install our games once a month
        This is the logical outcome

Spoof a new IP between each install.

Wouldn't be legal. That's the corner they're backed into. They can say you can only install once a year or whatever but you never agreed to that when you bought it and the ToS of Unity isn't flexible enough to enforce such a thing.

But you can bully smaller devs with this very easily. If I find some low budget isometric pixel platformer about depression and trans issues, you bet your ass I'll spend years reinstalling it just to bankrupt the dev.

You can't uninstall and reinstall the same thing asynchronously unless you have multiple accounts

Just create your own engine indie fags

Realistically they'll just all switch to a FOSS engine like Godot.

They should have done this years ago, GODOT kicks the shit out of Unity.

        This. About time.
We need the game engine equivalent of Blender, and Godot isn't there yet.

blender + Godot is pretty damn close

That's what everyone used to do. In fact people didn't make "engines", they made games and when they wanted to make a new game they started from scratch every time. This will just filter the casuals.

This will also indefinitely prolong the development circle,

I hate this board anymore. I'm sick of trying to have a conversation with actual children. I was laughing at this earlier but now I'm just angry at all the diaper shitting kids on here that don't even know what "installing" means

Honestly this, it's a funny joke at first but now I'm thinking people aren't treating this as a joke.
What this is is another poorly timed decision that will get rolled back in the coming days, likely with a 'compromise' that's also awful but not as bad like all of these awful 'compromises' are made. There's no way to enforce this and there's no way that Unity will seriously try to pull this on all of their devs.
Besides, if last thread is any indication:

      [...]

there could be board room riots before the end of the week if they roll out just this part alone. People underestimate how small Unity is compared to how big the game companies who make games with unity are.
