      I fricking hate that shit
no, I don't wanna play on the flipper machine for hours
no, I don't want to play this stupid card game
and fricking no, I don't want to look for treasure chest #237 with generic loot

For example, shit like Yakuza, I don't have time for that, just finished 0 and it was sooooo long. I don't care about some dumbass kid getting hentai or some nerd lugging around a portable microwave, adults got things to do.

For me I do all the side stories but I don’t do 100% for all of them, it ate up too much time and my autistic ass would game for 16 hours straight with 1 meal and toilet break.

Only ever on a second playthrough, and I have to like the game a lot.

Same but most of the time I don't even finish the story. I know if I do it's an unusually good game

  7. 2 years ago

But what makes the credits so important? If you have no desire to play a game after the credits role, then it doesnt even sound like you enjoyed the game to begin with.

I only consider it if I really like the game, even then I only consider it.
Last time I really went out of my way to 100% was years ago for Trails in the Sky FC/SC. I just liked them enough to play through em multiple times, it’s like watching movies or series I love multiple times.

Completely depends on the game and what 100% means. I'm a completionist when it comes to sidequests and character interactions if I find them interesting, but I never feel compelled to beat a No-Deaths Super Ultra Hard Mode Deluxe run with only the starter pistol or some shit.

Getting 100% sucks in most games. The path to 100% only feels good when it feels like you're getting good content along the way and when it'd feel like you're missing out if you didn't. Some of the 3D Marios got this right.

  14. 2 years ago

I don't care about 100% usually but I'll play everything in the game I enjoy. Even 'cheevos are fun to unlock along the way, but I'm not doing stupid grindy shit for those either

    >if Main + Extra has like 40 hours, but Completionist is 200, you know that game has bullshit 100% grind requirements and I won't even attempt to 100%
    there's some exceptions, of course

Games like Yakuza are fun to 100% because it makes you experiment all of its content and rewards you for your patience, it's also fun and it feels nice not to leave loose ends
Games like DMC are very fun to 100% because most of the cheevos are a test of your skill as you played the game and a good testament to it.
It's JRPGs where 100%ing becomes a fricking chore that detracts from the experience because they involve arbitrary grinding, missable items quests etc. Very few JRPGs manage to be engaging enough for me to 100% unless it's a fun platinum like Persona's.

Unless its super good or exploration focused I doubt many people get close to 100%. The abundance of games in every genre ensures there is no pressure to squeeze every drop of gooey flat and sharp dopamine jizz from every game you play.

Games that were fun to 100% like Spyro Trilogy/DKC2/Yoshi's Island/Talos Principle broke me. Now I try to 100% every game hoping that devs put in effort to make 100% fun, but sadly modern games do not even slightly give a shit.

I play games to have fun. If I had fun, I play more of that game. I don’t 100% a game on principal, or to “get my moneys worth”. It’s a hobby, not a job.

Pic is me btw, to give you an idea of the kind of person that has fun with Video Games.

I only 100%'d Naughty Bear like a decade ago, got platinum on every level including those completely ass pacifist levels where you can’t use melee to hit or kill anyone
Ironically the levels where you have to kill everyone were harder than expected because while you CAN just start a massacre and beat the level in 5 minutes, you’re not going to get any points for the scoreboard so you need to draw it out. Inversely the levels where you can ONLY kill by driving victims to insanity and suicide were fairly easy since you can easily cause a domino effect of madness and suicide after a couple minutes of traps and scares

if i don't get some endgame item or something other than just bragging rights then i don't give a shit. i've 100% a few games and afterwards it's just nothing, there was no incentive for me to do it, i just did it and got nothing for the effort, so why waste my time.

I don't think I've ever 100% completed a game, even if it's something I play through multiple times. Checking shit off of a list doesn't really have any intrinsic satisfaction for me, I have no problem moving on from a game even if I'm just one or two easy achievements away from getting them all.

Ha! yeah man. I always play for fun. My whole thing right now is hitting up random devs, getting super chummy with them and then QA testing their shit with a 13 page summery. They never expect it. Seeing their surprise is an absolute joy for me.

I can only think of like 4 games I've 100%ed in the 23 years I've been gaming.
    >Super Mario 64
    >GTA Vice City (99.9% because I couldn't find the last packages but fug u I revisited every single location)
    >Persona Q2
    >Soul Hackers 2
I'm sure there's technically more, but I'd hardly count something Sonic R or Mario Kart 64.

I only try to 100% the story content, that is to say I always try to do all the sidequests that have some form of unique writing, or other unique elements like optional bosses and such. Collecting shit and achievements and challenges I couldn't care less about.

I like getting games to 100% achievements but I'm not going to go too far out of my way into unfun gameplay. Luna Nights is a good example on how achievements should be done. You just need to complete the story, explore the entire map and do boss rush. There's obviously stuff like get all spells and collectibles, but you'll have those by the time you completely fill out the map. There's also gimmicks for achievement prostitutes but those are pretty easy to get once you decide to actively pursue it, like the trash can quest.

I barely even 50% most games, side quests are almost always low budget nothing throwaway time wasters and "story mode" in so many multiplayer focused games feels tacked on.
Gimme the part of the game with budget and effort and ill only suffer the essentials required to play that.
