I imagine the price is because they know what their niche audience is willing to pay. The price also acts as a way to gatekeep retards out of the game. Imagine the game was only $10 and some asshole was on the forums asking for space ships?

This is very true. I would easily pay >$100 for a game that was basically Wing Commander or FreeSpace with FMVs that let you romance an alien cheetahman VN-style but with FMV scenes, who start out as your enemies but end up allying with you to fight a much bigger bad. Just like the Terrans and Vasudans did in FreeSpace 2.
That game will never be made, but again, I would pay a premium for it, and to keep them flush to keep making content for it.
>Stop shilling your garbage literally who game.
yes i'm sure a dev for a highly niche wargame like this one would wanna shill his game on Ganker of all places, a turbo normalfag coomer and esl infested shithole where half the thread discuss the latest and greatest ubisoft triple aaa goyslop product, the other - some coomer western vn for normies with a fetish for "mommy milkers" or however you poltards spell taht
the fucking arrr gaming isn't as infested with normalgays as this board
how the fuck did the strategy genre get reduced to pure abstraction and spreadsheets? like what the fuck happened? how did Paradox shit supersede RTS games?
brother if you can design a video game that brings the aspects of this game to a 3d environment with the same level of detail then you'd be a fucking billionaire because you'd have invented a glorious new technology.
t. graphicsfag
This is how games used to be, complex and sophisticated. But as emphasis shifted to MUH GRAFFICKS, games were dumbed down because the 3D graphics couldn't handle what 2D perfected.
>complex and sophisticated
lol
lmao even
lets see >strategy layer is turn-based as opposed to real-time, only tactical battles are real time, so they arent integrated to where you have to deal with both aspects
in other words, much like total war and its gay clones, the TBS aspect is just mario party with spreadsheets to tweak with simple RTT battles being the meat >SP only, so you're playing against dumb AI, which is trash in ALL STRATEGY GAMES
of course, it isn't 3d. so there's no 3d plane to deal with, it's mechanically inferior to most games that utilize that aspect.
RTS games were a fad that outlasted their welcome, very few companies were able or willing to make something great, so we got a slew of StarCraft clones and other games in that vein, and if it hadn't been for SC the genre would've died much earlier as people were already quite tired of C&C clones. Fact is, there's not much to RTS games as they used to be, you work on your build order and your opponent works on theirs and you clash and whoever guessed right wins, barring scouting and other silly shit which can muck all this up.
With all the arguing in the thread, it's time to talk about the video games guys. Please. One thread on this board where we talk about the gameplay.
I'm playing as Austria Hungary 1900 start, and for the past 12 years I've gone to war with the italians three times so far. I had a sucessful amphibious invasion of Albania (since events for useful neutrals to be annexed by anyone, let alone you are rare, I didn't oppose their invasion years before) and have now a massively grown economy from all the economic reparations. I'd like to attack them again at some point soon, but tensions are high with the French and they're allied to the Russians. I think I could hold my own against one of them easily but if a war breaks out and the Russians join in I may be blockaded. At least my 900 ton DD's are being built right now, my light forces have been the backbone of my strength since the beginning.
>Italy is considering sending an expeditionary force to Albania, ostensibly to keep the peace, but they plan on taking control.
Literally an in game event that I responded to.
if you are intelligent enough to play a game like that why are you still lurking on Ganker?
You don't have to be intelligent, you just set the research budget to max (12%), use staggered production in your naval procurement process to maximize technology advancements while minimizing costs, and always choose the options in random events that raise tension with a country you want to blow up. Nothing special to it. And the combat is easier than a classic RTS like C&C generals, you give speed, heading, and taskings but the spotting of enemy vessels, firing of the cannons, shovelling coal into the boiler, etc, everything else is done by your sailors. And besides, there is on occasion a hilarious thread or even a thread where people talk about video games they like instead of complaining or posting pornography.
how do you get into this type of game
seriously asking, this looks like pure autism, but im not sure if I want to pay 40 bucks for a game I might not enjoy.
people smarter than you.
me 🙂
people who play factorio
>$40
>he didn't pirate

Should he have dumbed the joke down for you?

>Still has a better user rating than your harry potter game, muhammad
Spotted the dev.
>autists who buy a $40 menu simulator rate a game highly
Who would have thought?
>150 retards with sunk (get it?) cost fallacy
or the people who bought it knew exactly what they were getting and are fine with it?

Aurora 4X is one of my most favorite strategy games of all times, so me.
Does it have spreadsheet sex simulations?
Only spreadsheet alien diplo, spreadsheet ship design, and spreadsheet everything else.
Nah this looks like a job
Some people like their job so much, they are willing to pay in order to keep doing it.
Forgot to mention, I'm trans btw 🙂
not sure if it matters
Nah man I'm trying to escape excel here.
I haven't played Aurora in over a decade. Has much changed in it?
Thanks for the suggestion. I like to torture myself with absurdly complex strategy games.
>54$ CDN
wtf are they smoking?
Boat autists
actual autism
>Ganker suddenly pretends they aren't autists
I have at least 120 hours in the second one. Was wondering if they changed/added anything to make this worthwhile.
They added spaceships because some asshole on the forums kept asking for them.
Looks like something my dad would play. He loves the sea, but has never been able to own anything else other than an aluminum boat
>WW1 Russia
>Has no access to oil according to the game
Who the fuck was this game made for? Literal illiterate retards?
for me it's 8 inch
Click where it says "Very Positive" and read the usernames you absolute retard.
Stop shilling your garbage literally who game.
what's wrong with the usernames?
do you think this game's target audience is normal people?
can you stop with the 20 questions shit and just fucking state your point clearly?
game is made for literal autists
literal autists are weird
this may be expressed in username choice
those usernames look normal, as do the user pics, there's even an odd one with an anime pfp of all things
ok
>can you stop with the 20 questions shit and just fucking state your point clearly?
AI post.
>1 review gives it an in-depth look instead of a shitty one sentence meme review

none of this actually happens on screen. all these autistic narratives form in your head.
