I loved season 1, but it was basically at the threshold for my tolerance of woketrash.

The cartoon was much better than the comic because it all took place within like 10 chapters. Where season 2 starts off the comic just started getting good and to be fair only really gets better as it continues.

Not only that, she:

The story you're talking about doesn't need ten tons of graphic violence (no pun intended) and gore to get the point across. Plenty of people have died in comics over the years and they've had to deal with the fallout of that. Obviously a lot of comics have to revive characters, retread shit, do multiverses, reboots, villain of the week, etc, all so they can keep selling issues but my point is that the violence and sex and rape and swearing are for shock value. It is to draw in viewers (or readers). Omniman or Superman eliminating the justice league to become the most powerful person on Earth with virtually no one who can stop him does not require a bunch of blood and guts. However, the blood and guys make for a fantastic talking point that they can use to market the material and make it appear more mature.

The cadmus arc from justice league did it best. No blood or swearing and it explicitly lays out the themes for all viewers to understand. They beat the alternate dimension evil justice league in one episode, then theres a whole season of the military and lex luthor getting paranoid over the idea of an evil justice league

no it absolutely does, i recommend you watch the first season, because watching the scene in isolation does nothing for you

Omniman is trying to convince Invincible to join him and conquer earth, he first tries to appeal to reason, then, like an enraged, out of control father, he starts abusing him physically and psychologically, this is shocking not just because "le evil superman crushed a train" this is shocking because every other scene between these two has been pretty much a father and son bonding scene with Omniman teaching Invincible how to use his super powers and how to be a super hero, to go from that, to insulting him, killing people in front of him, using him as a battering ram and finally beating him into a pulp in the span of a single episode, thats the real shocking part

and whats more, once you understand Omniman's inner conflict, you realize hes not just trying to talk Invincible into turning his back on earth, hes also trying to convince himself earth is nothing, that all the years he spent with his wife and son mean nothing and that the only important thing is the Viltrum empire he was indoctrinated since birth to serve

also, one very important thing, the show is called "Invincible", not "Omniman", this not really "what if superman was evil", its actually "what if superman was a teenager, and his father was secretly evil"

also sorry but i dont think you can have this story without violence, its not going to have the same stakes, not even close, its like having a war movie where nobody dies

listen to what Omniman is saying, not just look at what hes doing

hes trying to convince Invincible these people are beneath him, what better way than slamming him against a train to see how everyone dies except him

hes also arguing that if hes not going to join him, then hes just going to keep killing and killing, and theres nothing Invincible can do to stop him, so of course hes going to be shocking to force Invincible to capitulate, hes using Invincible's altruistic nature against him

and finally Omniman is trying to convince himself earth and humans mean nothing to him, they are insects and he can do whatever he wants to them

that super violent scene with the train? thats the most violent the first season gets, and its the second to last episode, almost nothing else in the first season comes even close

Not entirely, but it does rely a lot on shock value just to get anywhere. The author even admits as such and poked fun at it in the comic.

It's a typical ploy of many fictional stories, and an easy way to get normalfags talking about something, just shove gratuitous sex or gore into something and it will drive interest in your product. I mean look at Mortal Kombat (which by no coincidence Omniman is now guest starring in, a series that previously had slasher horror villains as guests), it's pretty much universally agreed to be a shit fighting game but it is still the best selling fighting game franchise of all time because people don't buy it for a good fighting game, they buy it to watch the fatalities.

This is why it's hard to take fans of Invincible seriously, it's just another blood and gore slopfest at the end of the day, whatever other good qualities it may have are secondary to that primary reason for its existence and popularity.

Invincible really is just ultraviolent capeshit. Watchmen can get away with being the original and the boys comic seems to have some kind of overriding message, but invincible is just r rated superheroes. The walking dead guy writes really compelling characters, so it has that, but good marvel and dc shit has that too.
