Id. They're not making another Doom game, Quake is a dead franchise unless it wants to become an extraction shooter (although, extracting off of Stroggos, hmmm), and Wolfenstein has equally run its course now that The Man in the High Castle is no longer airing.

I see crying about extraction shooters all the time but I've got literally no idea what it is. What are some examples?

Tarkov and Marathon (reboot), that's about it so far.

There's been attempts (Hazard Zone in 2042) that flop massively (2042, again), but nothing huge like PUBG was for Royales.

Put an X on Toys for Bob too. They are not closed but independent now.

They're still with MS but not with ABK.

Wow, that's a lot of games I have absolutely zero interest in. You boomers are complaining about nothing. Yall probably wouldn't even notice if all those studios went under.

non compete contracts will soon be outlawed, so the former tango members are free to create their own studio if they can find the funds

MachineGames, after they launch Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Machine Games are one of the only competent dev studios Microsoft have left.
Everything they did on their own ranges from good (most Wolfenstein games) to pure kino (Quake expansions).
Both bad games here (Youngblood and Cyberpilot) they were forced to work with Arkane hacks.

    Studios that are safe:
    Mojang
    Playground games
    Treyarch
    Infinity Ward
    King
    Bethesda
    Blizzard

Everyone else's on the chopping block.

Mojang feels like a studio that's going to be "restructured" into non-existence while a newer more active studio makes Minecraft 2 or whatever.

I don't think even Microsoft is moronic enough to do that.

343 and T10 are probably safe too, as they would of been shut long ago otherwise.
Bet MS can't admit the developers to their two biggest IPs cant make games anymore.

        Anonymous

Didn't they already say Halo is no longer one of their flagship IPs and that any internal studio is free to take a stab at it? I'm pretty sure 343i's days are numbered. Same with Turn 10, they have a significant overlap with Playground and the latter are much better at bringing in the money, shutting them down and letting PG handle the Forza IP alone would be a solid cost cutting move.

          Anonymous

I doubt they close Turn 10. Playground does arcade. 10 does Sims. If MS kills Turn 10, they'd basically be killing their Gran Turismo attempt, because Horizon isn't that.

            Anonymous

I'd say Forza Horizon is simcade enough on the most realistic settings, all they need is to make some circuit tracks and they're good to go. Besides it's cheaper to tell PG to tighten up the handling and add a couple other sim bells and whistles than it is to keep around T10 so they can take six years to shit out something like the latest Forza, that might as well have been made by PG anyway. Besides, the days of Microsoft trying to go one on one with Sony are long gone (in case MS putting their games on Sony consoles wasn't a giveaway), they couldn't care less about having an answer to GT.

The good Arkane studio is still alive and well though (for now).
Honestly it's hard to tell. I wouldn't have expected them to cut off Tango after what they put out either so apart from the likes of Blizzard, Bethesda and Zenimax it could be anyone. Wouldn't surprise me if some teams just fall apart simply because of the lack of job security.

Ninja Theory is 100% getting the axe when Hellblade 2 inevitably flops. I also think Obsidian is on the chopping block or at least will be downsized significantly. 343 has to be under the microscope as well given how poorly Halo Infinite performed.

They need to tell everyone at 343 to get the frick out, and give Halo a full reboot. Admittedly, I don't know what developer would be a good fit at this point, but it was definitely never 343.

Oh no, not Arkane and Alpha Dog studios, they made... something.
And why, oh why, did it happen to something I can barely read, what does that say? Roundhouse? Probably made some super duper cool games, like Tango Game...works? Golly I'll sure miss their iconic titles.
Just 10/10 studios and games all around.
