Why are there so many games about depression and the post-apocalypse? Is the average gamer so unhappy with their life?

I want a comfy post apocalypse game. Some big plague kills 99.95% of people and everyone that's left is pretty much post-scarcity from all the leftover canned food, empty houses, tools and so on. People are the only limited resource, survivors naturally work together and no stupid settlement wars or fighting over resources happens because there's so few living people and so much free stuff left behind

No but the average troon that digs these games are. Don't get why they love the post apocalyptic when they would be on the first on the chopping block along with most of the homosexuals that go on /misc/

I have no idea what those games in the pic are but I'll make a guess

    >A girl(or boy?) goes on a magical journey. Probably a platformer where those flying strawberries give you a health bonus
    >A fat man playing on a console. Story focuses more on psychological stuff. Multiple choice VN with many endings.
    >A boy goes on a magical journey but this time with a furry gf.

    How close did I get?

Indie devs being artsy fartsie hack frauds is the origin of this. They think some sad trash is automatically deep and complex storytelling

Why do indie devs always try to make platformers? Followed by jrpgs.

    >Why are there so many games about depression and the post-apocalypse?
Short answer is that it appeals to zoomers, they want to feel sad because it relates to them.
Long answer is that's on a surface level anon, most of these games have a message to have hope even in the worst moments, it's just a writing tool to make the story have more weight.

Because the post apocalypse in general is just a kino asf setting and any game that uses it gets an automatic +1 in ranking
