Why are they delaying the introduction of Primaris Chaos Marines in the lore?

Why are they delaying the introduction of “Primaris Chaos Marines” in the lore?

You know they’re going to do it, so why all the hesitation?

Because they're pivoting away from renegades in general. The basic chaos space marine unit is called Legionnaries now.

      >The basic chaos space marine unit is called Legionnaries now.
that's more because it was confusing having the basic Troop unit for Chaos Space Marines also called Chaos Space Marines.

As your pic shows, they can get chaos players to buy the stock kits. Then, when they feel that is saturated, they will release the new kit so that the chaos players can rebuy everything

Probably because nulore is turning "renegades" into neutral marines, and Chaos has fricked up so many minds most of the legions just eat the Primaris.

Neutral in that they are self serving. They don't serve God's or the Imperium, and raid both for survival. We see that in Sons of the Forest, an entire station run by the Fallen aren't picky about who they raid...until the Lion shows up

Fabius Bile is always called a CSM but he literally doesn't believe in the chaos gods and is more of an extremist follower of the imperial truth. It doesn't make sense for groups that hate chaos to be listed as chaos, like csm who don't care about the dark gods and cut off mutated limbs.

Kind of sounds like they're backpeddling on the "primaris' word anyway. The loyalists will just be strangely larger for some reason. New scale is shit anyway

Chaos are already well aware of what the Primaris are and they are not impressed. Might be why they are inclined to just kill them than let any into their ranks

Chaos has enough gimmicks (i.e. mutations and possessed) to justify making and selling new models.
    Marines had nothing.

Isn't Chaos already Primaris scale (TSons are larger than primaris IIRC)?

The new models are a touch shorter than Primaris but noticeably larger than the original Marines that they themselves still are in lore.

Motherfrickers still sell the ancient dogshit csm bike kit, let them update that and maybe some more heroes, update raptors for the bigger scale, etc. then

GWs eventual endgame is three Space Marine superfactions.

    Loyalist Space Marines (Primaris)
    Renegade Space Marines (Firstborn)
    Chaos Space Marines (CSM)

      Anonymous

Lol no it's not. In the new Space Marine models the word Primaris isn't even mentioned. It's like Space Marine Terminator or Space Marine flame gay or whatever. They're doing what they should have done initially and just replace old SM models with better sculpts that are bigger without any mention of them being some sort of "new" "better" Marine. In the lore the word primaris will be slowly phased out and so with Chaos you'll get more primaris Marines become corrupted (like they did in the Angron book) and everyone will shrug their shoulders and just accept it. Eventually the Primaris will just be a footnote in lore and they'll speak of it like it was an armor update or something.

Primaris isn't just an in-setting justification for rebooting a product range, it was part of an overarching marketing effort to refocus the franchise on the conflict between Chaos and the Imperium. The media franchises that GW was trying to copy all draw a thick, sharp line between good guy and bad guy designs. Think Stormtroopers in hard shiny geometric armor vs. Rebels in soft cloth fatigues. 40K had Space Marines vs. Space Marines but with Spikes. It's no accident that the new Chaos Marines have the Darth Vader vox-grille and the Primaris helmets don't. Even the Infiltrator grille is shaped more like gothic architecture than the Vader triangle. All to make those "head to head" promo art pieces pop.

GW wants to divert CSM and SM further. So CSM don't just look and function like spikey loyalists. The point is for them to have completely different units and different vehicles and other stuff. Which is why tacticals had to go, because CSM already have tacticals. CSM tacticals were further refined with Kill Team upgrade that allows them to take a minisorcerer too. So loyalist will have nonverstile Aspect Warriors to make their units completely different. There is no point in giving them Primaris, Chaos can have other new stuff.

      This guy is right too

They will be called Fabulous Spece Marines because Fabius Bile will make them better than that pussy Cawl could.

"Primaris" as a marketing gimmick has run its course as evidenced by the pivot away from abortions like the Primaris™ Vanguard™ Suppressors™ and back to classic units like Sternguard Veterans and Terminators, and the elimination of "Primaris" and "Firstborn" as mechanical concepts precluding each from the other's transports.

Games Workshop will never admit that it was a mistake to introduce Primaris as a newer, better kind of Space Marine and we'll always be burdened by the post hoc justification for their existence in the lore, but in a few short years they'll just be Space Marines, again, and the old sort will just be artifacts of scale creep in the same way that RTB-01 beakies are, today.

      It's not a marketing gimmick.

They introduced 'primaris' because they couldn't copyright 'space marine'. It's a sound business move.

Shit's not complicated. There can be whatever justifications you want to convince yourself its for anything other than just cycling products for constant hype, but that's all it is. There will be enough kids that got into 40k via primaris that in a few years GW will be able to sell them the same doods again.

Because the all the way is clearly not working. If it was, Cawl wouldn't need to add his extra layer.

Perhaps because the primaris idea is now and then, an embarrassment of the Warhammer lore.
Its just a bad loophole GW made up because they where afraid all space marine players would rage-quit the game if they released a new marine in a new scale that didn't fit in with the old manlet-marines.
They even said so out loud when releasing the new Stormcast Eternals for AoS, in a new scale, that they tried (and failed) miserably with the whole primaris idea, and that people in general created the new scale of marines with positive enthusiasm, but not the lore. So in AoS they simply stated that "we think the SCE are to small in comparison to the rest of the miniatures, they are supposed to be these gold cast golems, heroes of old made manifest, now they will represent this on the battlefield as well as in lore".

Besides, why did Cawl get the mission to fix everything wrong with the space marines, and not a lunar genesmith? Are GWs 40k team such lorelets they forgot (or didn't know they existed in the first place) about them? They where literally holding the key to the creation of the space marines in the first place! No, let a mechanicum priest do it instead, makes sense....

Stormcast never changed scale, the new spear troop just has a different pose

Yes they did. Latest edition came with a larger scale miniatures, they even said so during the release. The proportions are different, and as you say, the pose is also contribution to the fact they look slightly bigger.

Anon, GW explicitly stated during release of third edition that the scale had changed, as well as better proportioned miniatures, we also got them a tad bigger. You are entitled to your own opinion, but your feelings doesn't dictate the facts at the table.
