Because only fighting games need 6 face buttons
No other game needs more than 4 face buttons

Speak for yourself. I have the Vader 3 Pro controller posted in the OP and thanks to wasd, I'm able to get a lot of uses for it.

      This is objectively false.

Name one. Keep in mind triggers and back buttons exist so your suggestion has to be one where you NEED six distinct buttons that MUST be accessed by your thumb.

because they're shit even for fighting games, just buy a hitbox

Because 4 back buttons aren't standard either, give the fingers doing nothing something to do before standardizing giving the thumb even more buttons to press

Nah, the right analog sticks is way too close to the d-pad and it looks cramped.

The Flydigi Vader 3 Pro is probably the best controller ever, minus the fact it doesn't have a headphone jack.

Would have been if HORI didn't have such shit QA. I had one and the left analog stick started drifting after just 10 hours of use.

lol it looks like a mutant controller. Normalgays would be turned off looking at this thing. There is a reason why we do not see controllers looking like this. They aren't very aesthetic looking.

Can the two small buttons between dpad and stick be programmed on the Vader 3 Pro? Can they be programmed to send keyboard inputs as well?

The Home and Function buttons aren't programmable, no. Not actually sure what the Function button does if anything, don't remember seeing it mentioned in the manual and it didn't seem like it had the same undocumented functions as other chink controllers.

The placement of those C and Z buttons look terrible.

You'll never accidentally press them, but they're certainly inconvenient. I still prefer them over using sticks for L3/R3 if able at least.

It just looks like you wouldn't really be able to use them well or intuitively like you would a 6 button Saturn controller for example. Like it doesn't look good for Street Fighter for example.

          Anonymous

Yeah they definitely aren't designed for something like that. The way I see it you'd use the back buttons for whatever you'd want the extra two face buttons for on a Saturn controller, so C/Z are just icing. Icing that you probably wouldn't bother with in a fighting game, but it's still an extra two buttons for whatever you want on a controller that already has four back buttons for extra convenience.

Because they became the bumper buttons thanks to the SNES

Let me guess. You "need more''.

This right here is the only proper use of having two extra buttons. Having them essentially be dedicated utility/menu buttons located off to the side under your thumbs joint, while the rest of the buttons are the standard 4-way diamond. The way Sega tried to do it was moronic, two offset lines with no neutral "center" for the thumb with the third button on each line too far away to be comfortably used.
I'd absolutely love for the controller-s style black&white buttons to make a return. They provide some things bumpers don't.

i never understood why microsoft turned these buttons into bumper buttons instead of just adding bumper buttons and keeping the white and black buttons for other things
it could have added so much more function to the games their console put out, making them more interesting
sony only had the pressure sensitive buttons which are widely considered to have been a complete mistake these days

Only by idiots. Xbox also has pressure sensitive buttons.

Any game that requires more than 4 face buttons isn't worth playing.
