Autism.
because it would sell 2 copies
Idk man. That's exactly what I want. A brand new Resident Evil game that's as good as RE2make.
Lol no. If it's called 'Resident Evil 9' for example it would sell plenty. There's no reason why they couldn't make a main Resident Evil sequel in the style of RE2make, only 7 and 8 are first person.
9 needs to be part of the fps trilogy
Capcom games wouldn't sell 2 copies by virtue of being Capcom just like Stanfield or whatever its called will sell by virtue of being a Bethesda title.
Right until they hammed in Chris Redfield because hey ho we all wanted more of that c**t right?
Honestly they at least need to move on from the original cast. Final Fantasy sells with a brand name but had the smarts to separate each title.
>Honestly they at least need to move on from the original cast. Final Fantasy sells with a brand name but had the smarts to separate each title.
Isn't that what they originally wanted to do with RE? I thought I read somewhere that the original pitch for a sequel was about a CIA agent investigating weird stuff in the Mojave. Then that later got merged with Aya Brea and mitochondria stuff to become Parasite Eve 2 when a bunch of the RE team went to Square.
I didn't know that, interesting. I think had they moved on after the PS1 trilogy the series would have been better for it but I do love 2 and 3.
Final Fantasy is hardly doing well either so who knows for sure.
final fantasy is only doing well by it's life support.
13 was a flop that dumping millions into 2 sequels didn't save the reputation or sales of
14 was their saving grace and making them millions monthly
15 was a flop. took too long to finally release. was verses then somthing else then 15
ff7 remake was a disaster and didn't even break 5 million copies. square has gone silent about it after the low selling dlc. fricked up the story, character design and so much more
this tells us square has no idea what the frick they are doing with their brand. FF will always sell but right now it's not a go to title. thats why they are having spin offs. like with the crazy guy hunting chaos or the dark souls clone they are making with the ff name that was announced.
>ff7 remake was a disaster and didn't even break 5 million copies
U wot? It sold over 5 million which is pretty good for a exclusive
it nearly sold over 5 million which was a disaster from what square was planning and projecting.
> This was a failure
Just like Kingdom Hearts 3. Which is why they kept the review embargo on it so long after first week sales.
also note how they are merely reporting 5 million sold. That's business wordplay. It probably sold below that line imo. Moreover the game was so goddamn tedious. Like it was too long in midgar. for the whole game? Then its not even the same story? bleh.
What were they planning? Its a remake that is sold episodically.
Sales, after all the millions they dumped for social media and digital promotion. Didn't do too hot in Japan either we heard. Something without a doubt went wrong. It didn't make the splash it was suppose to that's for sure.
ff7r battle system is a rehashed KH battle system. It's not anything to bark about or that really initiative.
Maybe even Japan couldn't swallow Tetsuya Nomura's god awful "cool Sephiroth" and time travelling bullshit... FF has no future with him anywhere near it.
You have to realize though that Final Fantasy 7 was once a MASSIVE force that elevated the series to levels it would never reach again. Its kind of crazy how little impact its remake has had...
12 was the last I enjoyed and even then it hardly compared to the PS1 era, I mean FF could once compete with mainline Zelda titles...
You have to realize though that Final Fantasy 7 was once a MASSIVE force that elevated the series to levels it would never reach again. Its kind of crazy how little impact its remake has had...
^ This, all this.
The fact that the game has gone silent so quickly is a giant red flag. Think about this. Square found the holy grail of jrpgs and a doorway into the west. Publishers across the world has copied their formula. Some nearly plagiarizing. Like Sony's Legend of the Dragoon. probably why it didn't get a sequel, re release or remake.
Metal Gear Solid was also a massive hit but its remake didn't make much of a splash either.
twin soild? twin snakes? i think it was called? That was for the gamecube. Just like with the Resident Evil remake most of the gamecube fans arent action game fans like re and metal gear. metal gear is bonkers crazy anyway
this makes no sense. ff7 was like cultural identity and a seminal defining release. Games, movies, and other media copied the setting, story and characters. Not to metion copying the game itself. Think about it like this. We had satire prime time shows like robot chicken and other shows reference and make fun of ff7 and its cast. Because it was just that popular. We seen it get its own sub section of spin off and lore expansion stories that mostly sucked but spread the brand further. not to mention merch and selling it's weird casio keyboard sound track by the boatload also.
>tldr
it was a invitation to make money and square fricked it all up. The modern games that oversell sell for different reasons as they are main stream. FF7 is a rpg, rpgs are never main stream save for a few, mass effect, dragons age, final fantasy, zelda. it really doesn't matter. it still was a failure and a let down to its fanbase.
>Final Fantasy 7 was once a MASSIVE force
No it wasn't. It was a weeb sub culture hit in the 90s. Do you understand how small that is?
In 25 years FF7 has sold around 13 million copies across every imaginable hardware platform. Many of those were repeat buys for PC versions and handhelds. Every single yearly iteration of COD and FIFA sells more than this. It wasn't even the biggest deal on the playstation, Tekken, Gran Turismo and sportsball was. If you leave your weeb bubble, no one knows who the frick Cloud and Tifa are.
FF7 was a pretty big deal at the time bro. You might just be a bit too young
Nah, I was there. I was the only weeb homosexual that gave a frick about it or even knew what it was. Everyone else played Tony Hawk and Golden Eye.
Why would anything nice ever happen?
Why do that when you can slap the RE logo on it and move an additional 5m copies?
Aside from the perspective and monster type, that's what 7 and 8 were.
Except RE2 has good pacing and level design
only the first half
Nah the sewers still have pretty good level design, especially compared to RE8, and RE7's second half. The lab is kind of flat but it's at least serviceable.
The sewers are the weakest part with the exception of that one area with the chimeras. It was just a load of backtracking that gets more noticeable once you start trying for S+ Rank. The labs weren't great but at least they were short lived and generally linear.
Nah, the lab's the worst. Sewers give me sh2 vibes
Because IP is so famous that it has to sell trillions. It will never be like this anymore, every sequel will feature a more simple map so normies can't get stuck. They know how to do it, but it's too risky.
I really wish I knew why the textures in R3MAKE get crusty after long periods of time playing.
They probably think it wouldn't sell as much as just pumping out remakes.
I'm not sure if they're right or not. But if they want it to sell they could just bring back a previous protagonist.
just wait for revelations 3
I just want more of the gore from RE2R, resident evil 8 shooting feels like call of duty.
>I just want more of the gore from RE2R, resident evil 8 shooting feels like call of duty.
Couldn't have said it better anon
chris is a iconic character and now he's become stable and actually has form. Not roidrage from re5 and not thin cancer patient who's been told all that smoking is going to kill him in 3 years.
Just a well toned, experienced, burdened special BOW elimination captian with a fricked up past and can be a bit of a c**t when he needs to be.
> like coming in Ethan's house with a silencer pistol was pretty c**ty when is fricking kid is upstairs.
> and for the love of frick.
capcom better not make him come out and be a homosexual. he has a off and on thing with Jill. (the actual original jill, not what we got in 3 remake)
If they do move on from the original cast we need good characters and not bullshit zoomers. but there's still alot to explore with the original cast
Chris is the perfect example of writing a character into the ground to spew out endless sequels. Iconic? none of his games (CVX + 5) are beloved and he hardly had the impact Jill had with the original.
What do zoomers have to do with anything?
They can't make another one because old game design philosophy is a lost art.
Old games had very limited hardware, and weren't capable of very detailed and realistic design, so the devs had to make sure the game design was tight as frick. New games rely on graphics and production values for immersion, not game design. Basically: fancier graphics = lazier game design, because the better the graphics the easier it is to distract the player. If you're playing a PS1 game there's not much to "hide" behind, so the game better be good.
The closest Capcom got was RE7, and that was still had a lot of typical "modern elements" that distracted from the classic RE experience. Even REmake2 is guilty of this, the Alligator being a clear example.
This is something I have been realising lately, most video games with soul have it out of compromise. I spent so much on GPUs over the years and I cant even stand AAA games anymore.
I'd rather have another game like Rev2, ie. the best RE game since 4.
Resident Evil 2 was good.
>But in no way shape or form
should it be a gold standard. It needs more time in the oven and had a great deal of issues.
>anon
you need to understand that companies now adays are not intrested in making new IPs like the PSx / PS2-3 era. Throwing shit at the wall and finding hits when it stick. They just want to turn profit as quickly as possible and keep players buying their shit.
The only thing companies has done is become main stream and frick up things
>(like claire's censorship. Leon is in the same outfit but her's is different... and even censored)
and shit out the same generic 3 genders of shooters, 3rd person, overbudget voice talent games.
Another crash needs to happen before we have that era again. Indy gaming is dead, its been brought up by big companies that want them exclusive and gives them guide lines to follow.
What're you even talking about?
>Claire's censorship
How is her outfit censored? She shows more skin
her original outfit looks like a throw away character from AME's walking dead and has been seen a ton in zombie movies forever so big shocker
they changed it dramaticly from the re2 classic outfit. shorts have changed they are no longer short shorts, and just looks and feels off. but they def toned it down that's for sure. doesn't look like her other outfits. from the nintendo games either.
this one anon?
yeah thats the one. Never played it but only watched the opening cutscene.
Would be great since they're remaking 4 anyway, they used this system. It's clearly the same type of gameplay but tweaked to be better. Unfortunately we know they wont and theres even rumors RE4 is going to be VR.
RE4VR is a separate project.
I think RE4make is being done by the RE2make team.
So are they remaking RE4 twice? Once for VR and once with upgraded gameplay/visuals
The VR one is the original game just in first person and no more melee finishers. Oh and it’s censored.
The remake is a ground up thing.
Yeah seems like Capcom and SquareEnix are having a hard time realizing when they've struck gold. RE2 remake is literally the best that RE can be. RE4 needs to use its engine, formula etc. If RE4 remake is a god damn first person shooter people are going to riot. SquareEnix has absolutely nailed ARPG combat with FF7R but they're going with a DMC style character action direction for FFXVI. I love DMC but that's not final fantasy. With FF7R they've managed to blend ATB turn based elements and action very well. Oh and you have a party in FF7R vs. the solo action of FFXVI so its a pretty big departure from what makes FF.
The game was top loaded (resident evil 2 remake). It got boring after. Almost like a corridor shooter.
>If RE4 remake is a god damn first person shooter people are going to riot.
It will be and it should be die of rona boomer gaygit
>I love DMC but that's not final fantasy.
mad cuz bad git gud
>SquareEnix has absolutely nailed ARPG combat with FF7R but they're going with a DMC style character action direction for FFXVI
First of all. Every FF installment has different combat. Sure it used to be all turn based but even then the systems were different. Since XII they haven't looked back. XIII had it's own type(s) of combat. XV had a terrible but unique type of combat. VIIR has a great use of action while still utilizing the old menu system and Materia. You can see how its combat evolved from Crisis Core(and maybe a little bit of Kingdom Hearts) and now with XVI they are again, doing something different. Which makes doubly sense since they got the combat director from the DMC games. Them doing their own thing is a constant. Besides you act like they are just dropping the ARPG combat from FF7R when you and I both know theres at least 2 more Remake games coming that will utilize the same combat. By that point I wonder how many morons will be complaining about Square never doing anything new.
I was honestly very surprised with how good VIIR's combat system ended up being. I was expecting something worse after XV's mess. Most I'd have to say about it is that aerial combat is very poorly implemented. Now if only the game wasn't so tightly balanced and let you play around more with silly materia builds
>Now if only the game wasn't so tightly balanced and let you play around more with silly materia builds
I'm betting you're going to be able to do some really stupid materia combos later that play the game for you.
>RE2 remake is literally the best that RE can be
No, that would be pic related
No one is playing fixed camera tank controls in 2021 eat infinity dicks. We are not limited to 4MB of memory to work with, it is not necessary to drop 8 polygons onto a prerendered background anymore. Let it fricking go.
Filtered casual, you don't deserve the pure distilled essence of survival horror that is vanilla RE1
>it is not necessary to drop 8 polygons onto a prerendered background anymore
I want to behead every electiongay that brought their fricking Qtard grand parents to this site.
They probably were inspired to continue the new storyline 7 started since it sold well enough, now that 8 is done with (unless it will be a trilogy per some rumors here and there) they should be returning to the over-the-shoulder games.
They're getting kind of dumb with the 'WE WANT THE PC AUDIENCE' stich but at least they haven't said 'ok every RE game from here on out will be in the style of 7 and 8'
Resident Evil 2 2019s biggest flaw is it keeps dicksuckin a game from 20 years ago it doesn't look or play like.
Could have had the hot new horror ip.
I'm trying to get through the original FF7 and its boring as frick. Spells don't really add to the combat at all, they're just longer animations that don't really make fights faster with the increased damage.
Summons are long but regular spells aren't but yeah, FFVII's gameplay is pedestrian for a JRPG, the main appeal is the story and music.
I know what you mean anon, I played FF7 Remake earlier this year and loved so I came back to the original.
It's a nice game to play if you just wanna have a beer and chill while enjoying the music and old graphics but the random encounters really kill this game for me. I hate that shit
They wasted new settings and stories with CGI movies and tv series. Just look at Leon, you only have 2/4/6 but now they blew him with CGI movies/series non-stop because much chasing Ada.
Yeah some of RE's non-game material has some pretty interesting premises that I think would be great to see used for a game. Stuff like the pre-RE1 promotional comic or the Umbrella Chronicles comic would be really cool to play through.
There's a radio play from right around the first game's release that has a neat premise, even if the execution is pretty moronic. It's about a Satanic cult somewhere in the Arklay region that drink the blood of an infected snake in a ritual and that leads to an outbreak in a small town near Raccoon City. Jill somehow gets dragged into all this like the day before RE1 takes place.
I like the idea of other, smaller outbreaks going on at the same time though. It'd be a neat way to get some different scenery and characters. Maybe even sort of an Outbreak-style thing with 4 or 5 smaller pre-Mansion scenarios set around the Arklay region.
yeah I fricking want monster hunter with re3's control
