Why can't people just let go of the past and admit this game sucks?

Why can't people just let go of the past and admit this game sucks? It's not fun, it's not challenging and it's not even revolutionary.

Seriously, what gives? 100 years in the future there will still be white knights for this game. Is it just something we have to deal with forever, fellating a mid game just because of a collective nostalgia that will never go away.

I don't just not see the hype, I feel lied to.

It's a walking simulator with extra steps, no pun intended.

Malon, Anju, Fado, Saria, Ruto, Zelda, and the bombchu bowling attendant are anime babes.

That said, 2D sprite-based games from the same gen like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYqfEgaUN7Q
        had way better looking anime.

The 2000s didn't have anime worth a fuck compared to the 90s.

It's still a very revolutionary and a fun game.

How is OoT revolutionary? Nothing it does is new, neither for its own series or 3D gaming. Locking onto targets, open world hubs, context sensitive buttons... All these things existed before 1998.

        >Nothing it does is new,

The Ocarina spells were new. The ability to get on and off of your horse as an integrated part of the gameplay, and not as a sequestered minigame, was new. Playing your character as both an adult and a child was new. The fishing minigame, which made special use of the rumble pack, was new. There are probably other things I haven't thought of, but you get the idea.

You're really trying to tell me that no game before OoT let you ride a horse before? Christ, bunch of drones...

I think there might have been horse-riding in the Ultima games, but no 3D game had done it before. If you think that's bullshit, then prove it, and tell me about an earlier game than Ocarina that had comparable horse-riding.

              Daggerfall.

In Daggerfall a horse is just a speed-boost while you have a horse-head sprite bobbing around at the bottom of your screen. You are delusional if you think this is anything like the riding in Ocarina where you can race, leap fences, carefully manoeuvre your with the analogue stick, summon it with a song, and enjoy having your horse as a somewhat fleshed-out companion character in the game. Ocarina was leaps ahead of that sorry little display in Daggerfall.

You lost the argument. Next you'll tell me the bike in Pokémon is revolutionary since it turns on a dime.

I asked you to give me an example of a 3D game that was comparable with it's horse-riding. You said Daggerfall, which uses sprites for its entities in the same way as Doom, and does none of the stuff that Epona can do in Ocarina, where everything is rendered in true 3D. It's not comparable, you dodged the question, and you're not to be taken seriously from now on.

    >Why can't people just let go of the past

I don't know OP, why don't you just let go of the past? Why have you made a thread about a game you don't want to talk about and would prefer to forget? Why are you keeping the memory of Ocarina of Time Alive? Is it possibly because you're seeking attention? I don't know, but the answer is yes.

Tendies are mentally ill, especially the ones that grew up with the Nogames64. They need to believe the lies the magazines told them about it revolutionizing 3D games because otherwise that Christmas their parents were screaming in the background won't be special.

      >Nogames64.

Quality over quantity. It changed the world with just 5 games. Stellar games, powerful games, games that were the envy of the world. There's almost nothing on the PS1 that can hold up today, but the N64? This thread is proof enough of its potency. We're still talking about Ocarina after all this time.

I’m sick of the Zelda fanaticism in general. It’s a prime example of something that’s only enjoyable if you grew up with it.

You're completely wrong about everything zoom zoom it brought many new features and mechanics that are now standard in today's adventure games, the z targeting system, the day/night cycle in real time, context sensitive button function, etc. it literally laid down the framework that all games to come after follow, you had to be there in that time/moment to understand
