Because it was a return to "standard" Zelda. Every Zelda before was 2D, and the one other 3D was Wind Waker. It was basically seen as a direct sequel to OoT.
TP's biggest problem is that while the items are fun in the dungeons they come from, most of them are SO specific you can hardly ever use them again after that even if you want to.
There might be a heart piece somewhere for it, but if so I don't recall exactly where.
Why do some of the best designed items in the series have to be stuck accompanying world design that lets them be usable for a few hours and then never again? Fuck.
you use it for a whole dungeon and boss, and it has a huge quest outside the dungeon tied into it. you homosexuals just will never be pleased with anything.
Something that only works within its designated dungeon and is otherwise pointless is no better than a dungeon-exclusive gimmick. The point of items is that they have some application outside the dungeon and can add to puzzle complexity for the rest of the game via their inclusion simply by dint of you having access to more over time.
TP does have a problem with redundancy and excess. From what I recall, the Gale Boomerang largely becomes obsolete after you obtain the bow. There's a few very specific situations where it might be useful, but the bow and twin hookshot are just far too useful in a far greater number of scenarios for you to ever equip the boomerang except in those few instances. And that's not even fucking getting into the goddamn slingshot.
The Hero's Bow and Double Clawshot are honestly just too strong and versatile. It says a lot about TP's balancing in that despite the total absence of the magic meter and thus the lack of elemental arrows, the bow is still obscenely top-tier.
Never played it but this was the best looking Link to me.
In hindsight, it's funny to see how strong the dark/edgy phase across all vidya was in mid 00's. Some earlier, some later. Jak II was a trendsetter. Early 6th gen era was way more chill and 'cool'. I'm thinking of Airblade and such.
Aonuma wanted BotW Link to be someone girls could self-insert into as well. He actually believed TP Link was TOO masculine and that they had made a mistake with him.
Which is a real shame. I think the TP manga really highlights the kind of Link people want from the series. He's a pretty boy, yes, but he's also a masculine hero.
>Aonuma wanted BotW Link to be someone girls could self-insert into as well
Clearly didn't work, my ex bitched to me all the time wanting me to install the Linkle mod for her.
I don't blame her, it's an excellent mod and Linkle is really fucking cute.
It is my earnest opinion that Zelda games should just have a male/female option when you start and you choose between Link and Linkle.
>king bublin, the same dude who injured Link's gf, kidnapped her and kids, almost killed him twice just pats Link on the head and says "yeah lil dude, it was fun, but I am getting out of here" and Link lets him go freely

this motherfucker faced no consequences or retribution for his actions which is even more weird and unsatisfying considering that Link has more personal reasons to have grudge against him compared to Ganondorf Zant adn shit
I mean in OOT Ganon was responsible for death of Deku Tree, in WW Ganondorf kidnapped Link's sister so aside from greater scale reasons to deal with big baddie, Link had some more personal reasons and motivations to fuck up Ganon
In TP deez roles are separated to Bublin and Ganon and it's weird that dude that caused Link more harm personally just walks away. There is fucking sense in that, ah yeah dude kidnaps kids and women to potentioally enslave/sell/eat/rape them but it's okay because in the end he stepped back like a bitch or just don't give a fuck about Link, pick your fucking poison
During playthough I was more invested in Bublin as antagonist rather than Ganon with his blabbering fuckery about sages and shit
Link has bigger issues to deal when that he can't just waste time chasing after an enemy that's running away. It's hard to have justify Link just stopping everything he's doing to chase after the guy. They just managed to get into Hyrule Castle, they're right at Ganondorf's doorstep, and now you want them to stop to chase after Team Rocket.
ah yes don't even start on Hyrule castle with its cringy supposedly emotional moment when all characters show up to help but none of them is memorable or even had enough interaction with the player or played a significant role in plot that would give me reason to give a fuck about them

absolutely wrong, you spend half the game paling around with those other characters and hanging out with them in Telma's bar. One of them is even Link's father figure. It's not possible to be as wrong as you but you managed somehow.
>king bublin, the same dude who injured Link's gf, kidnapped her and kids, almost killed him twice just pats Link on the head and says "yeah lil dude, it was fun, but I am getting out of here" and Link lets him go freely
What timeline do you come from? Link kicks his ass all the time and he doesn't pat his head and tells Link that he is going to fuck off. He literally gives up fighting Link because he realizes that Link is the stronger one of the two. He literally says "I follow the strongest side" showing that he knows Link is the powerful one. You got to stop reading your gay fanfictions and actually play the game.

Agreed. For all the changes the manga made to the story (most of which I think was for the better and is going to make it very hard for me to go back and play the videogame ever again), the ending of Link going with Midna felt like a no brainer. But I wouldn't be surprised if Miyamoto demanded that part of the ending remained the same.
The TP manga is probably the only videogame adaptation I've preferred over the original but the Wind Waker one does have some funny hijinks in it that make it great in its own way.
I didn't like how fanficcy it felt, I didnt't care about the shoehorned human cast I cared about Link and Zelda. Some of the designs were pretty shitty. I mean what even is that middle row character to the first right.
>hyrule's field is basically the same barren shit as in oot but 4 times bigger >bug segment 4 times per game >wolf gimmick makes horse obsolete >ah yes don't you want to solve this shadow beasts puzzle 12391283th time per playthrough to unlock fast travel portal >music gimmick is used to unlock the same one-shot attacks with different animations >story makes no sense >midna is annoyaing shit coombait and part of Nintendo plot to fuck up sexuality of kids during puberty
Horse is faster, but wolf is easier to use and due to teleports, you don't really need the horse as much. Wolf form is a lot more versatile, and there are various stretches of the game where the horse isn't even accessible.
Why is Hyrule Field such a consistent complaint? That's large for the horse shenanigans which are mostly fun. Warping negates most of the tedium that would have resulted from its size.
I remember you homosexual
I feel you make these threads every two weeks or so
TP is the best Zelda and by great margin better than WW, seethe and dilate.
TP is easily the best one, it shows in all aspects of the gameplay and during the duration of the entire runtime. OoT is great, MM is great, but TP is at least 3x OoT, just look at the total playtime hours, and not one moment during it does it ever drop the ball. It shuttles the player through epic moments and setpieces the entire game. It makes zero sense to put OoT on a pedestal and to dislike TP, when it followed it up and fulfilled on many of its unfulfilled promises and premises.
>It makes zero sense to put OoT on a pedestal and to dislike TP
I told you, I don't dislike it. OoT is just better.
The early part of OoT is very tightly designed and well paced. The early part of TP... isn't. The only OoT items that have like one prescribed use location and are otherwise irrelevant are ones on the equipment screen, unlike TP which has several D-pad items that are useless outside their specific spot. TP's story isn't technically any worse than OoT's, but it's told in a sloppier manner that relies very heavily on callbacks to OoT for its full weight to land.
And MM is even better than OoT.
>The early part of OoT is very tightly designed and well paced.
it's lose and barebones, there's way more care and attention to detail in TP. can't stand the beginning of OoT, it fails on both fronts. you have to do it to get into the dungeon, and it's just busy work with no foundation in reality.
why are there boulders just going in circles
why do you have to buy a shield
no one else has shields, why is there even a shop selling these things. ridiculous. it gets worshiped despite doing absolutely nothing, hell it's even a hindrance to world building.
in TP you get a fishing pole, you ride your horse around, you buy a slingshot, you go exploring in the woods with a sword. things just keep happening and being able to happen.
You get these interesting characters, they interject with personality charged comments. It's a believable fucking village, there's a lot of characters who have personality, there's a lot of variety to them, to the gameplay, it actually allows itself to humbly exist and be somewhere that makes sense.
then you naggers say shit like it's sloppy or it leans to heavily on TP, but you haven't even allowed yourself to be immersed in the setting and to take in all the details. disgusting. you disgust me.

TP having a drawn-out three day tutorial wasn't some sort of epic master plan. It was something Miyamoto demanded out of nowhere when they were already mostly done with how the intro to the game SHOULD work.
I appreciate the depth of TP's world, but I do not appreciate how long it takes to get to the meat and potatoes of Zelda. Nor do I appreciate that the equivalent to the child era is half spent in a world with muted color, no item use, and the same two dissonant/atonal tracks on repeat forever.
33 here fucking loved it when it came out on Wii. Everyone was so pissed he was right handed in it but I liked it lol. Also spilled much seed to true Midna
For me, I like TotK way bettter than BotW. It was a genuine huge improvement. No more holding up for 20 minutes on a featureless overworld! Now you warp, skydive, and build vehicles to get pretty much anywhere in five minutes or less! That alone was worthy of being up an entire tier, in my book. Add on to that the better enemy variety (albeit only barely) and you have a game that I find far less intolerable.
That said, I finished neither TotK nor BotW.
>actual Ganondorf is dead >have the chance to introduce a new "definitive Ganondorf" who might spend the next decade growing and becoming more complex throughout his reappearances >make him a worse version of the original Ganondorf with the same goals and less characterization than he had even in OoT
The classic Zelda games are very appealing as a setting.
Borders on dark fantasy with just enough lighthearted elements to not be too edgy.
The fact that they've moved away from that is a huge disappointment.
>muh grim dark moody atmosphere
It was the first Zelda (and only) to go for the make it realistic slop meme that wae huge at the time. If you don't think this is true look at most people's original reception to Wind Waker. It's only now a days where people realize Wind Waker looks 10x better than TP.
TP doesn't even remotely look realistic lol, all the character designs are super wacky. It has just as much of an aesthetic as WW, just in a different way. It's just not as childish as Wind Waker.
WW at the time was a huge outlier in the series. It's only after MC, PH, ST, SS, BotW, and TotK that WW doesn't stand out as much.
WW does have a decent aesthetic (a lot nicer than all the games I listed honestly), but it's not a good representation of Zelda, to me. TP looked much closer to how people conceived previous Zelda games which is why they were so excited in OP's video.
What I love is that WW HD looks fantastic whereas TP HD just removed the blurry filter from everything which makes some character models look really bad. It also doesn't even look HD in the first place.
Most Nintendo games are shit now to be honest. As soon as I saw the initial Switch game line-up in 2017 I knew it was a console I was skipping. I'm still surprised that WW HD and TP HD haven't been released for it yet though.
>The Original, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess are the only Zeldas worth playing, all for different, but equally good reasons. >Breath of the Far Cry and Zelda Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts are not Zelda games and are ubisoft open world slop tier with early 7th gen performance standards. Wind Waker is also partly to blame for this. >literally no one cares about your personal favorite Zelda
boomers had shit taste and hated wind waker at release and wanted OOT but with more realistic graphics and edgy and thats what they gave them and it was shit besides midna
Best Link design. Link being such an androgynous manlet with wide hips in Botw/Totk genuinely puts me off a little, i mean even young Link from OOT/MM is more masculine for fucks sake.
i understood making link being small when he was a kid in most of the games, but in botw&totk he is not a teenager anymore, he is a young adult, but the still is a midget compared to most of the npc's in the game.
why?
they we're dumb homosexuals that thought wind waker was too cartoony.
I dislike all the mainline zelda's between mm and botw. the spinoffs and portable games were where the real kino was
>5 hr tutorial >bug hunting >wolf sections >Terrible pacing >Ganondorf was behind it all! >Just as easy as Wind Waker >Dull ugly version of OoT >Terrible Anime story >Useless items >Dungeons are glorified set pieces >Overworld is somehow worse than the N64 games.
Imp pussy.
because it was the last good zelda game
>le boomer le zoomer
Because it was a return to "standard" Zelda. Every Zelda before was 2D, and the one other 3D was Wind Waker. It was basically seen as a direct sequel to OoT.
it was alright
I liked the spinny top equipment and the dungeon
SO HERE I AM
DOING EVEEERYTHING I CAN
lel
HOLDING ON TO WHAT I HAVE
TP's biggest problem is that while the items are fun in the dungeons they come from, most of them are SO specific you can hardly ever use them again after that even if you want to.
This is pretty true. I don't think there is a single use for the dominion rod outside of the temple of time and the statue quest
There might be a heart piece somewhere for it, but if so I don't recall exactly where.
Why do some of the best designed items in the series have to be stuck accompanying world design that lets them be usable for a few hours and then never again? Fuck.
it was already a step up from the fucking command melody, Wind Waker is such a dogass game.
you use it for a whole dungeon and boss, and it has a huge quest outside the dungeon tied into it. you homosexuals just will never be pleased with anything.
nagger all of the other items are used throughout the over world.
I'm sure you applaud that, tranny
Something that only works within its designated dungeon and is otherwise pointless is no better than a dungeon-exclusive gimmick. The point of items is that they have some application outside the dungeon and can add to puzzle complexity for the rest of the game via their inclusion simply by dint of you having access to more over time.
they totally can but it's not necessary.
Standard:
>Wooden Sword -> Ordon Sword -> Master Sword
>Ordon Shield = Wooden Shield -> Hylian Shield
>Hero's Clothes
Always Useful:
>Hero's Bow (Arrows, Bomb Arrows, Hawkeye)
>Double Clawshot
>Bombs
Consistently Useful:
>Zora Tunic
>Ball and Chain
Niche Use:
>Bombling
>Water Bomb
>Gale Boomerang
>Lantern
>Iron Boots
>Horse Call
Highly Specific Use Case:
>Spinner
>Dominion Rod
Completely Obsolete:
>Slingshot
The Hero's Bow and Double Clawshot are honestly just too strong and versatile. It says a lot about TP's balancing in that despite the total absence of the magic meter and thus the lack of elemental arrows, the bow is still obscenely top-tier.
Because dark and gritty.
Many such cases.
Never played it but this was the best looking Link to me.

they imagined a sandbox with immersive sim elements, they did get a few of those and the game went on to inspire Breath of the Wild. gamers won
Hyrule Field was honestly pretty close to that BoTW exploration experience.
for me it's snowboarding
I fucking wish botw had a snowboarding section against a yeti
well there's the sledding through the desert, I had fun. TP was a great game
OOT Link = Chad
TP Link = Chad
Other Links = Not Chad
Simple as that.
I think this is a lot of it. Link has been feminized so much over the years... why?
>Link has been feminized so much over the years
He's been wearing a miniskirt since Day One.
>Link has been feminized
He hasn't. No, coomer artwork doesn't count.
Yeah Japan has been waging a silent war through video gaming since the 80's.
So many redpills in those old RPGs.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Miyamoto demanded that part of the ending remained the same.
is it the one inside the womb?
Telma easily.
Fell in love with Ashei the moment she said "What?"
Seeing the fishing lady reawakened a preteen longing I had forgotten about
I wish I was Link
This manga was drawn by horny Japanese cougars.
Honestly fucking based.
The TP manga is probably the only videogame adaptation I've preferred over the original but the Wind Waker one does have some funny hijinks in it that make it great in its own way.
What a chad. SS prequel Link was cool too.
An SS prequel game would be kino. I want to play as Punished Link.
My cute and canon Knight wife
I didn't like how fanficcy it felt, I didnt't care about the shoehorned human cast I cared about Link and Zelda. Some of the designs were pretty shitty. I mean what even is that middle row character to the first right.
good dungeons
>hyrule's field is basically the same barren shit as in oot but 4 times bigger
>bug segment 4 times per game
>wolf gimmick makes horse obsolete
>ah yes don't you want to solve this shadow beasts puzzle 12391283th time per playthrough to unlock fast travel portal
>music gimmick is used to unlock the same one-shot attacks with different animations
>story makes no sense
>midna is annoyaing shit coombait and part of Nintendo plot to fuck up sexuality of kids during puberty
>wolf gimmick makes horse obsolete
horse is faster, and you get a call to use anywhere
Horse is faster, but wolf is easier to use and due to teleports, you don't really need the horse as much. Wolf form is a lot more versatile, and there are various stretches of the game where the horse isn't even accessible.
Why is Hyrule Field such a consistent complaint? That's large for the horse shenanigans which are mostly fun. Warping negates most of the tedium that would have resulted from its size.
story makes more sense than oot
I remember you homosexual
I feel you make these threads every two weeks or so
TP is the best Zelda and by great margin better than WW, seethe and dilate.
>verification not required
Better than WW no doubt, but the best Zelda? Really? I like OoT and MM more than TP overall.
Boomers don't play games.
why did you make this thread today when you got the answer in the same thread 2 days ago??
It was hyped up as the "correct" successor to OoT at the time since the art style in Wind Waker divided so many people.

33 here fucking loved it when it came out on Wii. Everyone was so pissed he was right handed in it but I liked it lol. Also spilled much seed to true Midna
as much as I hate BotW I can't in good conscience place anything below SS.
I only put TOTK on the same level as SS because they're the only two 3D Zeldas I dropped.
If I added a G tier, SS would be alone on it.
That said, I finished neither TotK nor BotW.
>twilight princess
huh? that's a zoomer zelda
There's only two zoomer zeldas now and they're the latest two. Zooms hate all other Zelda.
im a zoomer tho and it was my first
Not all, just fags who want things to look cool and empty.
It has been 17 years since the real Ganondorf has appeared in a new Zelda game.
He died in Twilight Princess and got buried at the bottom of the ocean in Wind Waker. He's not coming back ever again.
>actual Ganondorf is dead
>have the chance to introduce a new "definitive Ganondorf" who might spend the next decade growing and becoming more complex throughout his reappearances
>make him a worse version of the original Ganondorf with the same goals and less characterization than he had even in OoT
WW is only childish compared to previous Zeldas. Compared to most Nintendo games, it's grimdark.
Most Nintendo games are shit now to be honest. As soon as I saw the initial Switch game line-up in 2017 I knew it was a console I was skipping. I'm still surprised that WW HD and TP HD haven't been released for it yet though.
and? It's still the most sanitized Zelda game.
No, that would be the Link's Awakening remake, which literally looks like Bob the Builder.
stockholm syndrome for the imp
>The Original, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess are the only Zeldas worth playing, all for different, but equally good reasons.
>Breath of the Far Cry and Zelda Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts are not Zelda games and are ubisoft open world slop tier with early 7th gen performance standards. Wind Waker is also partly to blame for this.
>literally no one cares about your personal favorite Zelda
>BOOMER ZOOMER BOOMER ZOOMER BOOMZOOMBOOMBOOM
just passing by to remind your retarded shitposting ass that the same will happen to you
and it will be sooner than you expect
Nintendo blueballed everyone by showing that tech demo of Link and Ganondorf fighting (with what were Melee models) and then giving us Wind Waker.
Ppl were obssessed with "HD" gaming back then and wanted a more realistic Zelda. There was a reason why Wind Waker art style was so polarizing.
Neither the Gamecube nor the Wii were HD consoles.
you knew what I fucking meant you pedantic fuck. That's why I put "HD."
>expecting the average Ganker user to understand context and nuance
boomers had shit taste and hated wind waker at release and wanted OOT but with more realistic graphics and edgy and thats what they gave them and it was shit besides midna
Wind Waker is a boomer game though.
I dislike all the mainline zelda's between mm and botw. the spinoffs and portable games were where the real kino was
Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game.
>5 hr tutorial
>bug hunting
>wolf sections
>Terrible pacing
>Ganondorf was behind it all!
>Just as easy as Wind Waker
>Dull ugly version of OoT
>Terrible Anime story
>Useless items
>Dungeons are glorified set pieces
>Overworld is somehow worse than the N64 games.
>Best Zelda game
lol no
