Why did emulation become normalized when it's killing devs and glorified theft?
Just because a game has been out for a decade or two doesn't mean the creators aren't entitled to what they are due.

everytime you make this thread I will download 5 ROM games
Just tried Pokemon Crown, shit was more cash than anything gamefrick can formulate
Woah that looks cool
That looks seriously good
homosexual
cool opinion bro
now blow it out your ass
murder and thievery are cool and if you disagree you are gay
What's the point of buying an old game? The people originally working on it don't work there anymore.
Not just that, but even if they did still work there no one but the person selling the game gets any money.
The creators were paid years ago. Create a fair royalty system. I’m not donating to the shareholders yacht fund for no good reason.
>I pay my student debt. So should you. It's only fair.
this is not the same thing and you know it. arguing from a point of dishonesty will do you no favores.
education is not something that should be optional or have gatekeepers.
imagine telling someone that their dreams shouldn't matter so long as it doesn't meet some arbitrary quota of "value".
emulation is not gatekept by old white men.
frick off.
imagine telling someone that their favorite games shouldn't matter so long as they don’t meet some arbitrary quota of "value” so they’re forced to pay hundreds to even thousands of dollars for an ever increasingly rare physical copy that’s been out of production for 30 years when they could instead download a digital copy for free, hurting literally no one
compare that with you, demanding human labor from others like it’s your right to enslave them
>education is not something that should be optional or have gatekeepers
on the contrary, higher education is for people with aspirations to achieve academically and should be gatekept from all kinds of dumbasses forcing their way through with diversity quotas, attending courses on worthless humanity majors and finally people who are better suited for more technical fields but refuse to admit it because society brainwashed everyone to think Uni is the only option
>imagine telling someone that their dreams shouldn't matter so long as it doesn't meet some arbitrary quota of "value"
it's not arbitrary
over here college and Uni is free (and I do mean, no strings attached free, from courses to textbooks) so long as you score above average on nationals
you can't believe the filth this attracts and how they make their way out in society having learned nothing
there are underachievers across the board and there is no way to stop them from leaching "education" gibs indefinitely since the student status is not made to expire unless they graduate
and as a sidenote, why the frick are all art majors smokers with red hair, piercings and Guevara t-shirts?
do normal people not want to engage with art any more?
Lmao looks like you just learned your useless degree can't net you a job.
it literally is the same thing
in both cases you are paying for information
>but but labor has intrinsic value
nope
not how economies work
you don't deserve money just because you "worked hard"
t. can't get a job because of my feminist dance theory degree
>education is not something that should be optional or have gatekeepers.
Non whites and women should not be allowed to be educated
>education is not something that should be optional or have gatekeepers.
lol
Emulators and emulation is not illegal.
The creation of illegal rom images is.
Gee, I don't know. Why did homosexualry become normalized in vidya when it's killing kids and glorifying pedophilia?
Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna download a whole gig of NES roms to spite you.
Shut the frick up boot licker.
Agreed if it's for current gen. Nobody gives a shit if you emulate gba games.
A lot of video games aren't even available for purchase anymore, of course with more popular franchises you have compilations from time to time, or just the individual installments released in online stores, but for anything slighty more obscure, or with licenses from the time that have expired today... you can't purchase it anywhere nowadays. All you can do besides emulating it is getting it used, but in that case the developers who worked on it aren't getting payed anyway.
Odds are the game will be in the used market that the devs will never get a penny from to begin with, so that line of argumentation is bullshit.
If they want to profit from their old titles, port it to modern systems.
Also it's copyright infringement, not theft, which has much more severe sentencing and fines attached to it if someone is taken to court over it.
frick off spongebob you burgerflipperBlack person I WILL emulate, and I WILL play all those games I missed out on, and you CANNOT stop me
What games are you going to play Emu bros?
You tell me. Ideas? I have 16,000 games to pick from here.
SRW OGs, it's pure ludokino
I'm more a fan of the SRWs with licensed robots.
I'm going to emulate PS2 persona 3 and 4 despite owning them and a ps2 because they look like shit on my TV
Unleashed because it's fun
I have that on RPCS3, but it just goes to the loading screen and nothing beyond that. Any tips?
Change your settings to this if you haven't, it works
To enable debug go to GuiConfigs in your rpcs3 directory and open CurrentSettings.ini, find and change showDebugTab=false line to =true, it prevents the game from randomly crashing
Some werehog stages are laggier compare to console version and Eggmanland struggles to run at 30fps, other than that the performance is slightly better than on ps3 depending on your CPU
Playing Ace Combat X right this second, because the HD texture pack is fricking kickass
Biometal
Mario Lottery
I've been thinking about revisiting Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
I hope fire emblem engage will be emulatable day one
Can't go wrong with the classics
>got this game to work with a solid framerate and clear visuals that aren't cloudy as shit (the mountain levels were pretty bad for that.)
>now I just need to get a decent controller to make it sing because my current keybinds lack the ability for me to use a camera
I'm just glad I get to play this shit again because my copy on disk is beyond fricked and the PS2 doesn't turn on anymore.
just started Firefighter FD 18, it's cool
played metroid dread and had a blast
I'm playing God of War for the first time, and damn this shit is annoying. How even the smallest, most weak enemy can make this big gray Spartan Bastard flinch so fricking much mid combos?? It makes my blood boil
Just wait until you get to the balancing sections or the escape from Tartarus portion. Shit is like pulling teeth with how stringent it is.
The usual.
God, I suck at IA licenses.

90% of the time the creators who are entitled to your money for making those games are not getting your money. Especially not 10 years later. Where's Chadow when you need him?
i don't think the creators get a cent off of these new collections
If it’s normalised to the point where even companies are using it for game compilations or virtual consoles services, than you lost, companies are at the point of agreeing that emulation and emulators can benefit them financially and prolong a game’s longevity substantially
>but muh real hardware, I got to play super bing bing wahoo world on a real Super Nintendo and CRT
Don’t give a frick, all of that shit, your consoles, your games, your CRTs, or whatever will die even if you take the utmost care of your equipment. Hell, certain consoles or arcade boards like the Famicom Disk System are designed to be ticking timebombs. Then what? You are just going to refuse to play those games ever again if emulation or piracy is the only means of playing them?
And if the developers want to give me a way to play the game they developed on the original hardware without having to either pay x1.5 - x2 the price of the game from when it released or getting really lucky at a garage sale, I will support them.
>reddit template image with a bad opinion attached
OP is an NPC bootlicker moron that has no idea how abandonware works or a scalper trying to justify their hoarding, no in between.
I'm very sure people selling older games that aren't in any store anymore on ebay are totally giving money to the original devs.
I’m not sure but I used to collect old games but not anymore I got bored it once I heard they sold flash carts
This falseflag post was made by an emulation supporter to cause controversy. Nobody gives a frick if you pirate. Stop having this massive persecution complex
eat shit and die corpo Black person, i hope your company dies and you starve on the street.
Just downloaded 1000 copies of Mario Kart Super Circuit for you OP, Nintendo is going fricking DOWN

'Entitled' according to whom? You? Them? God? Who is this authority that decides who is entitled to whose money and how much over the replication of a pattern of 1's and 0's on a given hard drive?
Every day that a israelite is denied shekels is a good day. Down with the israeli system
Oh look, someone who doesn't understand the monetary system. Why the frick should I care whether or not some israelite gets paid for the work of video game designers and artists? Frick 'em.
Though support small developers, because the money actually goes to the skilled individuals that make the games.
I played Bomberman Hero on my poorly coded 64 emulator just to spite you
i'll buy old nintendo games if they are sold again by the company that made them.
What is up with these awful reddit "memes" where it's just some mouthbreathers opinion on a white background?
they're called templates for a reason anon
some subreddits don't let you make anything other than image posts, so this is how people manage
>emulation is killing the devs
>not the shitty games they're making
>mfw downloading no intro sets
I WILL pirate every possible game I can
No, I'm not poor, in fact there is no debt in my immediate family circle
I do because I can
It's killing the industry? Ok? Not my problem?
supporting the industry hurts gaming
Don't forget:
We don't have God tier emulation because Nintentoddlers are holding us back.
>Twitter
NINTENDOOOOOO DOOO SOMETHING!!!!!11
>I piss away my money so everyone else should be forced to
I know this is obviously bait, but there are people out there who truly think this way, and it makes me proud of my collection of roms I have.
>proud of a collection of literal freeware
I hope I never have it as bad as you
Seeing you were annoyed by my collection of "freeware," you are far worse.
>I had to do this shit thing so now you have to do this shit thing, nobody after me should have it nicer they have to have it like I did
American mentality
>I would buy the game if the company offered it!
>entire library is digital on Steam or roms
Emulate all the games you'll want to play. Then put the hard drives/SSDs inside a lead lined vault and bury it in preparation for the collapse alongside a piece of hardware that can run them. Viola, you will have the most successful bar/tavern/whatever after the inevitable collapse and people fix up basic electrical grids.
Any PS1 game recommendations?
I never had one growing up (N64 myself) but I enjoyed MGS1, also is Final Fantasy 7 better to play this way?

Those posts were never funny zoomer
Honestly nowadays there is no reason to pirate anyway. Most games due to be "live services" are abandonware. Completely fine to download. You have dumbfricks like Nintendo release a digital game just to put a time limit on it. Basically making the good 3D Mario games legit abandonware.
I don't pay for my game and you shouldn't either. It's only fair.
good morning sir
Good morning
We are advocates for piracy
Why do you think shilling for Epic exists
It's like legal piracy
Do the needful, dismantle capitalism
The Steam Deck is so good for emulation bros. I'm having so much fun.
>Why did emulation become normalized
lmao what? Get out of the fricking bubble that is Ganker and reddit. The average person doesn't even know how to torrent, let alone operate an emulator without succumbing to the "it's against the law" routine.
Uneducated nintentroony spotted
I want all modern game devs to die.
Yes it does. Intellectual property is a scam and creators have zero natural right to own copyright once an initial fair compensation is earned.
People have a right to consume the media of the past and it should not be controlled by corporations.
No amount of shilling can truly run that out of the peoples' minds, hence why emulation is eternally normalized even in this anti-piracy age.
Creators are not entitled to rayalties at all.
Only publisher gets the revenue.
And If i buy used copy, it is same as emulation.
What if I can't buy the game anymore? Emulation is a necessity
>Why did emulation become normalized when it's killing devs and glorified theft?
Because devs started to be real frickin homosexuals.
>you can't emulate games you legally own but would prefer to play with kb+m because... you just can't, okay?
Why can't companies re release games at a better price, of at all?
>I pay for my games
Sounds like a "you" problem.
Emulation is illegal, huh.
Better hope you never bought a copy of an old game on a newer platform then, you disgusting bootlegger.
>bootlegger
It's bootlicker, dumb ESL.
>I'm a moron and you're smart, you should go to jail because it isn't fair
The only arguments I've seen against emulation that I feel are actually valid are people that argue for accuracy.
Emulation only became a "Morale question" When Nintendo took an issue with it, and then suddenly ""people"" started pretending that it's a big deal.
I hate the recent trend of Twitter Black folk using every SpongeBob screenshot or reaction image and inserting some lame ass text acting like it's some gotchya trump card
I hope the games market crashes
You're a crab in a bucket.
Emulation is not illegal and devs don't even want it to be because they use it themselves to resell old games and other things
In fact I have no doubt the revenue they get from doing so, while probably not that high overall, is still far far more than they would ever gain by outlawing emulation
And of course devs that don't do this have no reason to care in the first place
If devs really wanted to they could easily pursue legal action against emulator devs but they will never do it because it's simply not in their best interest in any way
Emulation is a net positive for both the industry and the consumer it's that simple
>Redditbob
obsessed
But Emulation isn't illegal?
Emulation isn't illegal, piracy is.
Find me a single example of someone being arrested for emulation, not piracy.
If law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so
Unless you can prove the devs get royalties, they dont get shit for you buying the game so shut the frick up you moronic corporate shill.
9.9999999999999999999999*/10 times the developers of those games are long gone or have already been paid handsomely when the game released.
If you can argue what is morally wrong with the following uses of emulation, I'll stop
>Historical preservation
>Playing a game that you would literally have no other way of playing
>Undercutting the moronic collector's market
With old games none of the people that worked on them even gets paid for them, it's all people that still hold the rights.
Also it's mostly Nintendie corporate dicksuckers that make these arguments, make of that what you will.
>With old games none of the people that worked on them even gets paid for them, it's all people that still hold the rights.
I'm kinda interested in seeing what the responses would be to someone willing to go back and play their old stuff. Games and IP that have been lying dormant for 25+ years it must illicit some kind of response out of the people who made them considering how small those teams were.
>i want fricking video games for free
Leave those poor video games alone you sick frick
How can i steal something that is literally 1s and 0s on the screen and nothing physical lol
I have played and bought every video game so when the inevitable remake/remaster/rerelease comes out it’s already rightfully mine.
>Why did emulation become normalized when it's killing devs and glorified theft?
Because its pushed by discord troons who want people to bug test their shitty programs for free
>Just because a game has been out for a decade or two doesn't mean the creators aren't entitled to what they are due.
They already got what they were due when they sold the game to the person that ripped the rom. If its my game then that means I can copy it as much as I like.
>Emulate Pokemon Blue
>Gamefreak spontaneously combusts and everyone dies like KyoAni but deserved
Don't threaten me with a good time.
Begging the question
>emulation killing devs
90% of all devs I know pirate, hack their consoles and emulate
source: 15+ years in the gaming industry and counting
What devs have actually been hurt by piracy/emulation? Can you give an example? Reminder: the dev/company had to shut down BECAUSE of piracy.
It provably has never killed a single dev. I really want the corporate bootlicks off of this board.
>Just because a game has been out for a decade or two doesn't mean the creators aren't entitled to what they are due.
When you pull shit like p3p on steam for $20, when it's just an hd port, it deserves to be emulated.
>I suck dick, so should you
That's gonna be a yikes from me senpai
>if i put my opinion on a sign or have a character point to it that means it's completely immune from criticism
I don't get this meme
Are the Donkey Kong Country games worth playing these days?
>when it's killing devs and glorified theft?
Lol. Lmao even.
Almost all if not all games older than 10 years are bought secondhand and thus no money from the transaction goes to the creators
Then don't pay for your games so it becomes fair.
