For me it was the abysmall rates on good drops and upgrading coupled with constantly never being able to relax with all the BR adena plssss gank-morons that stopped me playing
>grindy as FUCK >p2w >dated gameplay >devs deleted open world pvp because of this bitch >they also fucked the endgame with cookie cutter classes
you need to have an humiliation fetish to play this absolute shit
All I know is >everything costs 6 gorillion adena >grindy as fuck >exp boosts for logging out penalize you for playing >soul stones or whatever that drain your account >basically works like a shitty F2P thanks to the impossibility to refill mana quickly
Way too grindy. Never liked the systems of losing items completely while trying to upgrade them. So basicly any Money Making Eastern MMO item system.
And just the lvl grind is insane. I come from oldschool UO, maybe this why I never liked the only one must have in slot system and that insane mob grind. We're talking tens of thousands of mobs. Like come on.
Also, way too many buttons, as in useless skills, but already modern retarded MMO "you can't bind this to that" system.
Again, going back to games like UO, you could bind pretty much any key. And the bind system in general was just so much more advanced. For instance you could bind something like "Last Target" on a spacebar or any mouse button. But you could also bind next target, previous target, nearest target, etc.
TL;DR: It wasn't worse than WoW, for instance, but WoW is casual shite.

Then pay money goy

It was pure soul for awhile. After everyone had paid their Chinese power leveling squads to level 90+ that’s when the game died. Killed by the same people that made it. There will never be a game with more PVP soul but it was powered by pure Adena duping. You either cheated or you couldn’t compete
False. If you enjoyed gaming you would have played Lineage 2 instead of your dumbed down themepark Blizzard slop MMO tailor-made for the mentally challenged folk.
I used to play this on private servers a lot. Game was really fun when you could reduce the lifetime level grind down to a few days. Raiding with the clan, sieges, clan wars, all some of my fondest memories of my high school years.
I mean, it's still one of the most popular mmos around and makes more money than GW2, but it's barely the same game anymore. As to why it "died", it's mainly because of NCSoft's corporate structure. They don't have the same teams work on the game continuously. There's zero consistency in that company. They shuffle people around from one project to another with no regard how it will affect their game, sometimes the entire team is replaced like in the case of lineage 2 and blade & soul, then new team comes in and starts making dumb changes that they think will help the game grow.
The original lead designer and a lot of the original devs left or were replaced after C1 and C2, and then the lead from C3 to Interlude was put in charge of developing Lineage 3, but he stole the code and left NCsoft to make Tera, and something like 50 devs left with him. That was when Lineage 2 underwent its first soft reboot "Chaotic Throne".
>why did L2 die
People realized it's a waste of life.
Grind forever for mats to craft.
Crafting is only 60% success rate.
Gear gets completely destroyed when enchanting.
Need to craft a dozen more pieces until you get lucky with enchanting.
No channels = too few grinding spots for everyone = you're stuck farming worse spots because you don't have a powerful clan (this slowly became a non-issue because playerbase dropped very quickly in late 2000's).
The game only catered to the toxic nolife PvP'ers and griefers.
Better games like Tera came out.
Around the time the game was hitting the grave, they made it F2P and P2W as fuck.
The game still survives until today because of a handful of autistic millionaires who keep spending tens of thousands of dollars every month to stay competetive (I'm not joking).

WoW opened the floodgates to casual morongays who couldn't handle the grind, or the idea of socializing.
i enjoy gaming. socialize my dick

>playing Lineage 2 in 2023
it doesn't get more mentally challenged than that
Almost as mentally challenged as pretending you enjoy gaming when, in fact, you have never gamed.
level 1 gaslighting just puts me to sleep
Blizzard made little timmy's first online video game, and then everyone screeched at every game that wasn't a copy of it.

>NCSoft game
L2 and Aion were better than any other MMO
no

GW2 is a dead chud game, so that's a very low bar.

Rope yourself, chud.
I am a 6ft3 proud 32yo biological man. I love Onimai.
