Most people picked soldier and just put points in assault rifles

Classic case of why devs shouldn't listen to players. So what if the majority picked one thing - keep the other options there for the players who actually give a damn. Costs you nothing to do so.

        >Costs you nothing to do so.
Yes it does. What do you think they just copy pasted the values from one game to the other?
They have to develop the skills anon those things didn't just pop up.
Notice how all four skills in 2 are actually two skills, hard to program, and two generic stat boosters, easy as shit.

It wasn't a bad change, they didn't remove anything from the gameplay, just streamlined the character building.

You know, besides the ROLE-PLAYING elements of a ROLE-PLAYING game.
Frick off. If you don't want to play an RPG, there are literally dozens of other genres that can and will cater to you.

You forgot to mention the more important parts.

Because Bioware's entire MO is taking RPGs and dumbing them down into romance novels for women.

    >top
    >100% fluff
    >charm/intimidate still exist in ME2 but is earned from alignment actions specifically instead of just being restricted by alignment
    >minigame skills are worthless as the reward is just more level scaled loot where the only difference is that your rifle says V instead of IV
    >bottom
    >active skills with branching paths
    >actual unique class abilities
Once you stop being a moron and look beyond the puddle-deep surface level of ME1, you realize both ME2 and 3 are both better RPGs AND shooters than ME1.

ME1 is so basic that most of that shit didn’t even really matter. It was already a massively dumbed down KOTOR.

Once they figured out that people just wanted to sex and shoot things they thought why bother

ME1's RPG system was poorly implemented and neither the spellcasting nor the gunplay were fun, even in late game.

Just because something is overly complex, doesn't mean it's deep or good.

Because Mass Effect 1 wasn't this and if you were actually old enough to be posting here at the time, you would know this.

The whole romance shit blew up with Dragon Age and ME2 is where it started becoming a major focus in Bioware games.
