Isn’t it the checkpoint coming from the main route from ncr territory? They most likely built it as a way of legitimizing their claim in the Mojave

No. Morale is the Prydwen. It's seeing Brotherhood soldiers in T-60 marching alongside Liberty Prime.

A crappy soulless sheet metal attempt at replicating pre war statues is not good for morale. Especially when the "people" depicted in it are pathetic and lame.

They built much more impressive shit than this on the east coast. They actually started a new world over there. Out weest all they fricking do is try to emulate pre war shit, only they take all the soul out of it and can't even fricking achieve things like peaceful lives for civilians. They basically just put up one or two concrete buildings, take your money, and call it a day. frick these irrelevant Black folk.

Why is everything so shit looking? Has the technology to polish metal been lost for all eternity?

      Anonymous

Nope, Maxson has clean metal. he mass produces near pristine suits of T-60 and vertibirds. Though idk if that metal was polished or if it's just new. The reason why the nrc have no shiny metal is because they refuse to move on from the past and think they can pull the prewar world back from the past into the future.

Statues and monuments are propaganda tools. They create, strengthen and advertise a certain national identity to all who see them. And the more impressive it looks, the more powerful the effect.

Imagine being some dumbfrick wasteland tribal who can barely tie two pieces of scrap together to create some basic armor and you suddenly see these absolute madlads building giant statues in the middle of the Mojave. You'd certainly think these NCR guys have their shit together if they have the manpower, resources and know-how to pull that off, so you'd be more inclined to join them when push comes to shove.

        It was.

Bullshit! Look at the history in Beth games.

Lyons comes to the capital wasteland and begins the fight to take back humanity's place at the top of the food chain, but also gets himself rejected by the gays out west. This eventually leads to the eradication of the 200 year old super mutant menace. This conflict also produced hardened veterans with enough heart and soul to take back the capital from the enclave despite having pathetic numbers and rusty unmaintained gear. And it turned the Bos into the world's foremost major military power which is so badass that it became the leader of the entire bos including the homosexuals that rejected it. Now anyone in america who dares to misuse science has to fight the entire US military.
This is a very VERY short summary of stuff that happened as a result of ONE historical event in the east coast titles.

What happened as a result of the nrc meeting these nonexistant desert homosexuals? Absolutely NOTHING. The desert le rangers have no history themselves either, they're literally mentioned one time in text and it says that they had the armor on the box art. That's fricking it.

      >pride
They have none. Play the game
      >reward for previous generations actions
They have none. All they have is shitty sheet metal and everyone is still the same, willing to kill you over a can of cram. Deathclaws and other even worse wildlife run more rampant than ever, and nrc can't even be bothered to act like they care even a little bit. You work for nothing except occasionally to suck off the morons and their little "pre war world" project where every once in a while they will just try to emulate a pre war thing by making a soulless "replica" of it that doesn't even fit in the post nuclear world. Seriously all your money goes into feeding the prisoners at that prison(which they didn't even build). How does it even sound reasonable to have prisoners in the first place in this world? The ONLY other thing your "taxes" go to is giving the president his own special vertibird(nrc only has one lol) and them trying to restart hoover dam instead of building ANYTHING new.
      >industry
They have none, play the game

Never underestimate the power of symbols. Today, most people outside of a few enthusiasts can name a fort or munitions depot from 200 years ago, whereas everyone on earth knows what the statue of liberty is.

In a century, if Mr. House and/or the NCR wins and preserves civilization as we know it, children will be finger painting the unification monument in art class.

New Vegas zoomers will genuinely make up reasons for why they built these statues in a location where only four people live with barely any resources and then become furious at the suggestion that caravans travel to major towns in Bethesda games.
