Also, while it's not exactly the best metric, take a look at the youtube numbers for the Dragonflight reveal trailer. Been over 3 months and it's barely over 2.5 mil.
Compared to Shadowlands which hit 15 mil before it was reuploaded, and compared to BFA which has a staggering 28 million.
The earnings report stated there was growth in the millions. You're thinking of the random Brazilian clickbait site an anon took a screenshot of 3 months ago.

Blizzard might have had a growth in millions, but that's literally 100% because of Diablo Immortal, where over half of the players playing it were new battle net accounts.

They had an increase of ~5 million MAU from last quarter to this quarter.
Blizzard put out a tweet saying that Diablo Immortal reached 10+ million players (which means more than 10, less than 11 million)
Blizzard then followed that up by saying over half of the Diablo Immortal users are new Blizzard users.
And hey, look at that. Half of 10 million is 5 million. And the increase in MAU is roughly 5 million.
The 36k isn't 36k players left. It's 36k concurrent users. Which is still a fairly healthy online presence for other games. But this is WoW we're talking about, that's absolutely abysmal by WoWs normal standards.
