I never played a MOBA. I don't see the appeal. It visually looks like MMOturd PvP.

      That was the appeal.
It was made for people that do not want to play WoW but want pvp with warcraft heroes. But that also do not want to play warcraft 3 or any rts. And that got sick of hamachi and garena and playing DotA. Or that never knew DotA and HoN existed in the first place..

It became a chore to play. They kind of ruined the game with the ladder system. They should have kept it more casual imo with hidden MMR. I peaked at Diamond IV on the ladder and it was a miserable slog getting there. That was like 8 years ago.

Ranked sucks ass and expect you to play 24/7 to get master/GM/Challenger, I was diamond in season 2,3 and 4 and tried to come back in season 8 and discovered that I don't have patience to play 12 hours a day of League rankeds, even with 80% winrate I was climbing too slow, after one month of playing 1-2 matches a day I was still on mid diamond, any other game with 40+ matches with 80% WR you are on probably on the highest elo possible.
I still watch competitive, on MSI I made like 800 dollars profit betting against T1 as usual, lmao.

I stopped with summoners rift a year ago and played only aram, but the game stuttered like hell randomly and even after upgrading all components it still did it, after I reformatted my system after an ssd failure I didn't install it again, and now with vanguard I wont, they bypassed it in a day.
all changes made to this game are to please competitive players and high-elo, I never saw someone botting or scripting, and scripting in league isn't an instant win either so who cares.
events being shit, low effort skins, arurf 8 times a year, the same cycle of champions getting buffed one patch before they get a new skin, your champion being gutted because some korean plays it with a wacky build, lowering individual expression to the point one player not wanting to play is enough to make a fed teammate lose, this game just isn't for me, it's for the competitive scene money drain, so I don't play it anymore.

If you can't hate your team as human being who are failing you, you can only think of them as randomness.

For years I played it out of social obligation. All my friends play, and still play to this day. We don't hang out much in person, but it was always nice to be able to come home, and know that around 7-8pm there would be at least a few people to talk with and play games with online every single night.
But in the last 3-5 years I just was having almost no fun playing the game. I realized the entire reason I played was my friends and not the game. I didn't care about ranked and none of them did either. None of us were particularly good, none of us were pushing to get better. It was just an idle activity. And I hated the activity.
So I quit around winter last year.

Been suffering from a bit of loneliness because sitting in a call as they play is actually worse than playing it myself. But I definitely will not go back to it. Especially after seeing the shit they're pulling since I quit. Vanguard and that $500 skin is complete bullshit.

          >old homies you've known for years
that's a bit strange to me because the "playing games you hate with people for social validation" thing seems like a quintessential teenager thing to do. you should do whatever you want, and i'm sure a few others would follow along. if you hate playing league many others probably do as well

            Anonymous

Not for social validation, it was for social interaction. Obligation might have been too strong a word. It started out not being bad, I didn't hate it when we first started. But as time passed we did less and less in person, so in order to even talk to them I had to be at least somewhat active on LoL. It was never an ultimatum, but, it would be like if all your friends hung out a specific bar, and you just didn't really like that bar. If you don't go to that bar, you won't see your friends as much.

i hope you find new friends that appreciate you and genuinely enjoy your company, anon.

I appreciate it. But I'm still friends with them. I'm not cutting off contact with people I've known for over a decade because I don't want to play a shit video game with them. Hell I'm going to one of their wedding's soon. Its just kind of sad to not really talk with them as much.

Lol didn't exist 15 years ago though

Normals have 20+ minutes queue time, and playing rankeds is not only frustating but also worthless with all the brainless kids you are going to be paired with

Got bored. Champion designs and art got way more generic and dull, character reworks homogenized playstyles too much. Also this goes without saying, but League players are some of the most insufferable in the industry.
Also Riot is a shit company.

I uninstalled because of Vanguard but I was mostly tapped out for years because the game just became a massive clusterfrick and I would really only play to hang out with friends.
The devs felt like they had no fricking clue what they were doing or didn't care more than half the time, too many characters were becoming aids to play against, and a lot of the older characters I liked were being completely replaced under the guise of being "reworked".
