      AAI1 was good

AAI2 shat the bed with Case 3

You got that in reverse. Liked both AAI games but AAI-3 was yet another victim of the third case syndrome, not to mention bringing up multiple annoying elements all at once like the badgers, Meekins and Oldbag.
Meanwhile AAI2-3 is the central case the entire plot revolves around, also we get a glimpse of Greg's personality and all the AOV memes with him

it was just fanservice explaining what the DL-9 incident was

It was very relevant to the plot of AAI2 itself other than the DL-6 reference.

I can't for the life of me understand why Kay Faraday exists, let alone why they decided to make her the designated Edgeworth assistant. If an Edgeworth game needed and assistant for him, he already had Gumshoe, Franziska, and Ema, who all fit the role better.

She's simultaneously too useful and too useless all at once.

She's useful because of Little Thief, which is like a deus ex machina device that can do whatever you need it to but she's not that useful because she as a character can't add anything to Edgeworth's deductive skills because Edgeworth is just too astute on his own and needs no help from an assistant character.

Ehhh, maybe it could work, but she was already given a different role by the other games

Having a cute girl cheering you in court is the secret to every good lawyer's success.

Ema was planned to be the assistant for AAI during planning, and scientific investigations were the standard for all cases. I think at some point they thought it would be too troublesome and came up with both a new assistant and gimmick.

The main issue she has is that she barely exists in both games which make me wonder what the purpose of her was, but Let's be honest I doubt much hindsight was put into her beyond "need cute girl with gimmick"
I don't hate her but she's very much just kinda there.

Lots of AA threads recently. Is everyone playing the series because of AJ trilogy?

Most likely I'd figure, I just partake because it's fun to have casual discussion on it. I'd imagine it'll die down in a few months once that trilogy isn't as new anymore.

Reminds me that we still didn't get a single assistant who wants to become a lawyer herself.
Athena doesn't count, she is a lawyer already. Just a shitty one.

We only have one assistant that is actually qualified for the job so what do you expect.

That was the point anon. I'd like to see an assistant who specifically follows the protagonist because she is an aspiring lawyer herself.

The closest we got was Susato, she's by far the best and most knowledgable assistant and even acted as a defense lawyer once. She's also 16, so it fits the assistant quota perfectly.

Close enough but I don't think she wanted to become a DA.
