It's been said before, but fighting games are designed as if every character is the protaganist. Not just that, but these characters need to stand out against 1-3 dozen other characters of equal importance. This requires strong design all around, meaning fighting game girls just have way more effort put into them.

Because they understand that women can be powerful AND physically attractive to men at the same time. Also, fightan games probably have one of the smallest female fanbases of any genre of vidya.

In theory it should attract more players, however Makoto threads demonstrate that in practice people will just post art and not actually play.

Because only perverts play as a female characters in fighting games, and the devs know their audience since they are the same kind of people.

The most attractive designs should have the easiest playstyles attached to them which is why Baiken "mains" are considered a joke.

    >Why do fighting games have more appealing looking female designs than other game genres?

Because a large part of fighting games is that they have to HAVE characters on screen ALL the time visually, therefore the push is to have the most visually pleasing looking characters possible to keep general audiences and players invested as they go toe to toe with one another. Fighting games due to this have always had exaggerated, sexy, stylish and passionate character designs.

The characters are quite literally the product.
