Why do people call JRPGs grindfests?

Why do people call JRPGs grindfests? Don't they know that grinding in them is the equivalent of setting the difficulty to very easy?

Difficulty is irrelevant in games that let you grind in the first place.

Eh some games make enemies scale to you and that could frick you over somehow due to some sidequest where you have to protect an npc that doesn't scale.

    >Why do people call JRPGs grindfests?
because if you're not a certain level or at a certain stat requirement then you can't beat most rpg bosses. A lot of battles in rpgs are very repetitive, fish for weakness or spam strongest most economical attack every normal encounter ie "the grind"

Anon, I have no idea how to tell you this, but you're a fricking moron. You fight those smaller encounters to level up. You don't skip all of them and whine "WAHHH THE BOSS IS TOO STRONG TO BEAT BECAUSE I SKIPPED ALL THE GRINDING" Black person you skipped all the encounters with small enemies like a fricking moron and then wonder why you didn't get any stronger. NO SHIT YOU'RE A WEAK homosexual.
It'd be like going to the gym and whining you can't lift 100kg when you can barely lift 10kg and saying it's unfair.

anon i don't skip all the encounters I'm just saying other people call rpgs grindfests because it's repetitive and easy. They also call rpgs grindfests because sometimes you have to grind to beat a boss.
I'm not saying i think this, it's just saying why other people say it's a grind

What I like about SMT is that grinding is useless and you unlock easy modo by fusing demons until you get the dude that breaks the current section and can anally rape the current boss

at least when I played on hard + no dlc, it was to the point where I got stuck and caved and found that literal low level challenge runs were grinding a bit. but anyways the problem is that game has level scaling so fricking strong you are literally better off spending time grinding than the time it takes to make a strategy for a boss or area, so if you're not grinding you feel like you're wasting time by not being stronger

i just don't like random encounters that i can just use basic attack on and win. or really random encounters in general. but i can stomach them if they're not too often and the fights aren't boring / repetitive.

If you can't skip all random encounters entirely and still beat the game then it's a grindfest.

    Yeah no frick off.

    >play JRPG
    >skip most battles
    >come to boss
    >don't survive a single attack from him
Grinding is required in almost any game.

    >Don't they know that grinding in them is the equivalent of setting the difficulty to very easy?
No. This is evident in every thread that hates on JRPGs. When you press them on their reasoning it almost always turns out that they're actually mad because bad and refuse to believe it since you can blame execution barriers in a competitive game or a real time game, but admitting that they failed at a JRPG is admitting that their brain failed them.

It's true that there're a lot of poorly designed JRPGs out there, especially from the 7th generation console era where traditional JRPGs were becoming depreciated as a mainstream genre but hadn't returned as a niche yet, but most JRPGs can be cleared severely "underlevelled" by someone who knows what they're doing. Final Fantasy is the most popular franchise and most of those games are so easy that people do level 0 clears or just rush through bosses with a few tricks.

But every single thread on the topic you see people saying that the games were braindead easy then outing themselves as shitters by needing crutches to play these easy games.
