Why do people who don't even speak Japanese try to say her name is supposed to be "Riko"?

Why do people who don't even speak Japanese try to say her name is supposed to be "Riko"? It's Liko in both Japanese and English.

how do japan differentiate if it use same symbol

The Japanese language may not have an L sound, but Japs know and L and use it. For example, Lillie is リーリエ (Ririe), but they still pronounce her name as "Lilie", not "Ririe".

And technically the R sound doesn't exist in Japanese either, they just use it because it's the closest thing.

kana to romanji could be as whatever the person in charge wants to be, ie "rapurasu" could be either laplace or laplus and both being valid without more context given

Usually if you see them write the name down in official media somewhere in Roman letters which actually happens pretty often, or if it's very clear the name is already based off a word/name in another language that starts with L. Ex. Lillie like mentioned.

Yeah of course there are some instances where the Japanese creators writing down the name just frick up and write it wrong, but generally seeing how they choose to write it down helps.

IDK if her name was actually shown spelled out as Liko in the Japanese ads (I think it might have been but I haven't been following this too closely), but if it was, then yeah, Liko is the spelling that's intended.

That's not really an argument in a series where half the character's names are puns or plants.

How do you pronounce Liko? Lick-o? Liko my dicko, what a terrible name. What's her last name, Stamp?

Boruto literally translates to "Bolt". His name is supposed to be a reference to Neji's name, which means "screw".

If they had just translated it properly as "Bolt" instead of keeping it as "Boruto", it wouldn't seem as stupid. Even TPCi's dub of the anime translated the name of a Pikachu based on and named Boruto as "Bolt".
