Sweeney outright stated during the Apple trial that he doesn't give a shit whether or not devs get a fair cut on the App store and that he would have taken a special deal with Apple to get Fortnite back on the store.
It's blatantly obvious that he doesn't actually care about devs or consumers. He has indie devs sign exclusivity deals that make them unable to sell their games on Steam, but all other stores are fair game.
He simply wants EGS to be the new Steam and that's all there is to it, he's just mad that Valve beat him to the punch.

There's nothing wrong with indies getting a payout from Epic to host their early access jank then the full release comes to Steam anyway.

Yeah that's what me and my buddies did. The hypocrisy Sweeney displays is just mindboggling at times, it's like he lives in his own little autistic bubble.
How he didn't realize that giving away free games every week would actively devalue the other products on the store is absolutely moronic. Hades was out on EGS for a year, then came to Steam and became a smash hit. Nobody actually buys shit on the EGS so smaller devs can just take his money and run, then go to Steam.

You have a thing you enjoy. For decades who you get this thing from and how you play it was up to you. Eventually shit coalesced around one company and that was kinda bullshit, but you still frequently had options and were still free to shop around for better prices.
Now one day this frick comes along with a chinese man's arm shoved up his ass all the way to the bicep. With the free hand, he keeps putting money in the frick's pocket, and with that money, the frick keeps paying people to keep the games you enjoy in his sandbox only. Not only can you not even shop around anymore, but this motherfricker's sandbox is dirty as hell, full of fresh cat piss and shit and other stuff you don't even want to identify. The sandbox you played in before was still a sandbox, but it was nice and clean, really well built, motherfrickers put in all kinds of toys to play with and a slide and shit etc. But the frick says no, you want this vidya, come play in my dirty ass sandbox and get covered in cat piss and shit and little kids' snot and everything, frick you.
Meanwhile the chink is clenching this frick's colon with his fist to shut him up every time he has a vaguely useful thought, and waving him around to flail at all sorts of other sandboxes as well, whipping out his dick and pissing all over the place, though the owners of the other sandboxes keep slapping the shit out of him for it.

Meanwhile Valve started the Steam store and he came screeching back saying he deserves a piece of their money because... because he just does, okay?

He lies constantly and the EGS store is where games go to die. It's a shitty, bare-bones hackjob with less functionality than the Uplay store and the ugly-ass lying homosexual who owns it buys exclusivity deals with developers because he can't make people use it otherwise.

Their CEO is a man child that thinks game devs are oppressed, but when in reality no one is oppressed, he just wants to have more of the PC and mobile gaming pie. Look at the Apple lawsuit lmfao.
That and the exclusive rights purchasing goes against what he claims about making the PC market open and competitive, rather than healthy competition it's locking people out and forcing them to use a platform to play a game.
Though this just means most people wait for it to come to Steam or GOG much cheaper a few years later, and often not even bother at that point.
Their store front,1, although having improved slightly recently, STILL doesn't have core features and ease of use., A monkey could design a better UI.

I don't hate EGS, just nothing about it is better than what I already use. You want a healthy competitive gaming market? Actually build a competitive product instead of waving cash under dev's noses.

    3) trying to cut the consumer out of the equation by bribing developers rather than improve basic functionality for their store

Their only positive is giving away free games, but the problem is that people are immediately distrustful of free shit when the person offering is shady, because they assume the other shoe is going to drop at any moment,

The only thing EGS is good for is letting you know what games to avoid because they took the chinabux. Not a single game that took the EGS exclusivity deal turned out to be good, only mediocre at best. It's a valuable service, it saves me time and money and I don't have to even install that spyware on my PC.

Their mission statement openly states they place publishers over players, and their store development policies follow suit.
Despite their outspoken stance against monopolies, they use monopolistic tactics of their own, and actively oppose attempts at diminishing PC gaming's reliance on Microsoft OSes, going so far as to unport games.

I primarily use steam, but I've got over 100 (probably 150 now) games on epic for free and I have only actually paid for 3 of those.

I'd say I hate the overreach of China into games media, but I honestly prefer them to the USA with all their pro homosexual and Black person stuff. Steam has now had pro homosexual screeds over its front page so I can't even excuse them and just blame publishers like I used to. Epic is still inferior due to not having forums, reviews, workshop; but I don't actually use steam primarily for forums, reviews or mods; so this hardly matters.

Its a bit like Rise vs World. Yeah, world has eco systems and better graphics; but do I play MH to follow insects around and watch how Odogaron interracts with Deviljho? No. It might be cool to see it happen once, but the game is primarily about killing stuff and making gear. And Rise does that marginally better, so I prefer Rise, even though World does have all those other features that Rise doesn't. Those features just don't matter. So even though Steam has workshop, reviews and forums; it doesn't give me free games. And free games are better than heavily discounted games. I still use both though, but I won't let the lack of features make me hate Epic like it seems to with other morons.

Okay Rajeesh if you're still in this thread I can give you a few things to pass onto your supervisor who'll hopefully pass this to epic upper management.

    Epic needs to
    >Immediately end all exclusivity contracts in the works
    >Rebuy the 40% share owned by tencent
    >Completely revamp their store with community support like modding workshops, user reviews/curators, working friends list
    >Add an incentive to use the launcher like selling 70$ games for 60$, 60$ for 50$, rework free game tokens into a subscription service of free games to sweeten the idea with investors
    >Allow downloading of the current unreal engine outside of the EGS launcher without having to build the executable yourself
    >Rebrand you Fortnite v-bucks cards to also be usable for epic games store account(super good for incentivizing overlap from Fortnite players and actual EGS users+third worlders are more likely to use your store)

Hopefully this helps earn you an extra rupee or two from management.

They are dumping China money to kill Steam so they can dominate the PC market, with a pretty obvious intent to force restriction on customers, and increase their cut once they dominate it.

Only selling point of EGS is that they have money, and they are willing to temporary burn it for future gains, gains that will be earned through treating customers like shit in the future. Basically same thing as Netflix and all the other streaming services are doing now, it's the current meta for establishing an online service.

Steam has its own heaps of problems but atleast Valve didn't start the business with an intent to dominate the market, and enslave the customers. EGS is not a "healthy competition", GOG is, but EGS definitely isn't.
